Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:43, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Greetings, I would like to thank you for having taken the time to revise my draft. I apologize if the content of the draft was in any way, shape, or form misleading to the community. I am currently a fellow at the International Center of Photography in New York and a Photographer studying visual arts at Bard College and I am trying to share my newest findings with the global artistic community. My photographic and anthropological findings are very important to the contemporary climate of political, racial, and economic crises that we are now inheriting. These visual findings are all cataloged in a newly published book which was mentioned in my previous draft. Although this might seem to be a form of advertising my own work, I am merely trying to notarize something that has already been published and previously advertised on your own platform, Wikipedia. This being said, I understand why this might have seemed misleading, but that is an incorrect assessment of the circumstances. On another hand, I would also like to state, that I will fully disclose my COI on my personal user page using the standard procedures. Simultaneously, I will not edit any articles about my work directly, but instead, submit at the talk pages. I thank you truly for doing this good of a job at keeping the community safe from misinformation and spam, and hope that this sheds some light on this subject. --Juan Glassford Photography (talk) 02:29, 18 May 2020 (UTC) Juan Glassford Photography (talk) 02:29, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You are blocked because of your username. With that name, no one will unblock you. If you put in a request to change that username, someone might. The draft isn't even that problematic; it's plenty promotional but I've seen worse. However, it will never be accepted in mainspace until a. its promotional language is toned down and b. there are secondary sources that verify the information and its importance. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi Juan Glassford Photography,

Thank you very much for the detailed clarification, and for the unblock request. However, you are not required to appeal this block at all. Because it is purely about your promotional username, you are allowed to create a new account at Special:CreateAccount. When logged in with the new account, please create your user page (click the following link AFTER logging into the new account: Special:MyPage) with a short text like "I am the subject of the article Draft:Juan Glassford and have previously edited as 'Juan Glassford Photography'." If you believe that you meet Wikipedia's notability criteria (short summary: WP:42), you are allowed to continue editing Draft:Juan Glassford, and re-submit it for review if you have fixed the problems. By doing so, you do already correctly propose edits. Only if the draft is actually accepted, and the draft becomes a real article, we expect you to suggest any further edits on the talk page of the article. Until then, editing the draft is perfectly fine.

Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 04:25, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
