Scott Shiflett
[edit]Hi. I'd like to let you know why I reverted your edits to Scott Shiflett. The photo you added is from a further distance and is of a lower resolution than the existing photo, hence it does not show a clearer view of the subject. Neither is it "more representative of how he currently looks", since there is only a 4-year difference between the 2 photos and he looks almost exactly the same in terms of physical appearance (no significant changes to age, weight, hairstyle, etc.). I admit to some personal bias as I took the 2010 Warped Tour photo and contributed it to the article, but I think my points stand nonetheless.
As for the "early life" section, the fact that you are a personal friend of his and know this stuff to be true does not make it appropriate for an encyclopedia. Content on Wikipedia must be verifiable and cited to reliable sources, particularly in a biography of a living person. The content was also not of a neutral point of view, but read like an advertisement ("Raised on a steady diet...", "inspiring many of their friends to take up instruments...", etc.). I suggest you read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, particularly the section "Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion", and the related Manual of style regarding words to watch. If you can cite some reliable sources to support the claims made, that would be great, but a personal, unpublished conversation won't suffice. If you have any questions, please ask; I'm happy to help. --IllaZilla (talk) 01:20, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. I understand your point about Scott's non career related info. I'll leave that info off as I do not have the ability to cite it appropriately. In terms of the pic, Scott would prefer a night time shot. I have a number of pics that he has sent me. The one I recently posted was one of those. Perhaps we can work together and replace the pic with one that he prefers.

- Non career-related information can certainly be appropriate to a biography, it just needs to be properly sourced. Information about Shiflett's upbringing, musical influences, and early forays into playing would be great additions to the article. If these topics have been covered in interviews he's given, for example, those can be cited.
- As for the infobox picture, the subject's preferences are rarely a deciding factor. Primary considerations are A) licensing, B) whether the image is an accurate representation of the subject, and C) image quality. Given the options before us, I think the 2010 Warped Tour photo is the best one: It's close-up, of high resolution, and illustrates the subject in the act of doing what he is most known for. If you've got others that might be better, I'm happy to discuss and consider them, but the primary consideration should be whether they are of better quality or better represent the subject, not the subject's personal preferences for certain kinds of shots. --IllaZilla (talk) 01:08, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
I have uploaded a new picture of Scott. This image is an accurate representation of Scott, high quality, a close up, and was chosen by the Scott as a picture that he wishes to represent him.

[edit]Hello, I'm K6ka. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to Face to Face (punk band)— because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 16:45, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
