Speedy deletion of Using Film to Teach Literature

Deleted -- Wikipedia is not a free webhost for class projects. You might consider downloading the Wikimedia software and doing a wiki on your own site. NawlinWiki 00:18, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

- From what I can see on the WPCC project page you linked to, it is about helping education providers to use Wikipedia as a basis for an assignment. However, this doesn't allow the bypassing of standard policies, and thus it cannot be used for a course information / download page. Blair - Speak to me 01:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
This is not meant to be a course page. It is merely a page that satisfies a requirement for a technology component for our course. I simply did not want any Tom, Dick, or Harry editing my page until I had a chance to get it up and running.
It is not an official class project, but one of many possible ways for demonstrating our ability to provide discourse and aid in discussion about a technology that interests me.
I apologize for any misunderstanding.

[edit](and NawlinWiki has taken a look, and agrees) So, I apologize for the misunderstanding. Here is what to do:
1.the way the coordination is handled is on a subpage of WP:SUP & by use of the article talk page. It is considered quite acceptable to explain there that it is a school project, and the rules. Here's an example: [1] and [2] and even a template {{Educational assignment}} .
2. I'm not an expert on this, and most of the sample projects are for university classes. I would ask on the talk page of WP:WPCC for advice on possibly adapting it to a school.
The best step-by-step guide we have seems to be Wikipedia:School and university projects - instructions for teachers and lecturers; and Wikipedia:School and university projects - instructions for students and see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/Piotrus_educational_boilerplate for a well-thought out way to give instructions.
3. the present page can be deleted as soon as you have it set up properly & the information transferred. Place {{db-userreq}} on the page and someone will do it.
If you do want to run your own Wiki, by the way, there are simpler things that Mediawiki to recommend--take a look at Personal wiki, Wiki software, and Comparison of wiki software. Anyone who can run a web server can install many of these packages, or so I'm told. Again, I'd ask for advice. DGG (talk)`
Thank you all so much for the help! You might get a lot of these. I think there are 18 of us that are putting a compilation together dealing with High School English Language Arts (which has also been tagged for deletion and\or deleted because of the very same disclaimer that started this whole mess
By the end of this component, we intend to have a fully functioning resource for people struggling with different aspects of the Language Arts. Again, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

One additional thing: it is customary to sign any comments you leave on a talk page. It is simple to do - just place four tildes (~~~~) after your comment and it will be automatically signed. This helps people to see who left a comment and when. Also, if you wish to indent a comment (this can be useful for organising replies), just add a colon at the start of the comment (or two colons for two levels of indentation and so forth).
