Hello, I reviewed it and it appears all the vandalism has been taken care of so far. (There's some recent good faith edits that could use cleaning up though.) What I can do is track down the vandals and put vandalism warnings on all their pages. I love to do that! I appreciate you asking for my help. MrBlondNYC 08:42, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help?

[edit]

You seem to be pretty good at finding reliable sources. Our stub on the Cardinal Kung Foundation was deleted under A7 back in December. They are generally considered a reliable source for what is happening in the underground Roman Catholic Church in China, so almost everything I find google searching either a news agency or blog quoting them about what happened to somebody. ("The Vatican press office said it had no information on the death, but noted that the Cardinal Kung Foundation has been a reliable source of information about the underground church in China in the past." [1] I think we ought to have an article, but can't readily find sources to make an AFD proof article. GRBerry 19:18, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disruption of WP

[edit]
Excuse me, the rules as far as I know them are:
  • After 5 days the discussion may be closed.
  • WP is not a bureaucracy.
  • The issue didn't have a snowball's chance in the first place.
  • The result was posted with respect to the obviously prevailing view.
Hey listen, I am not playing games here at WP.
That insurmountably prevailing view on the issue had established itself several days before I closed the discussion APPROPRIATELY. I also know that the "administrative" types involved were taking actions AGAINST the prevailing view, in closing the second discussion. I was seriously concerned that it would close with a different conclusion.
The move that occurred during the discussion is exactly where the material has ended up after the discussion, APPROPRIATELY. Furthermore, the case for deletion is always stronger for a less-improved version, than an improved version of anything. So therefore, the foolish revert only served the agenda of trying to impose the eponymous cat policy, NOT IMPROVING THE WP. My move consisted in an improvement, and it (and all of my actions) came with appropriate notice.
Proposing to delete categories on which people are working is DISRUPTIVE. Halting the improvement of articles, in order to undergo an obviously futile administrative process, is DISRUPTIVE. As further evidence of my good citizenship here, I have proposed to amend the policy which was originally foolishly applied. We are here for the content, not the bureaucracy.
I have read the policy you cite in warning me WP:DPR#NAC. It appears that I have acted substantially IN ACCORDANCE WITH IT. Furthermore, the policy that requests for non-admins to not close CfD discussions appears to do so because of technical limitations that DO NOT APPLY in this case.
You have cited WP:OWN, a policy of which I am thoroughly aware. You cite no actual REASON for citing it. Please explain this accusation or rescind it please. Your giving me this inappropriate warning implies to me that perhaps YOU have some ownership issues. You can't handle an non-administrative close with plenty of notice, and a slam dunk conclusion?
Your notice to me consists entirely in bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake. My actions were obviously in good faith, nonharmful, and NON DISRUPTIVE of any meaningful contributions to WP.
I realize that your communication to me is meant in a good spirit, and that this TYPE of warning is necessary on occasion. However, in this case it is NOT appropriate. Please remove your accusation. I will continue to edit Wikipedia in a respectful manner. Be well, Greg Bard 23:44, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I looked over the article and made some grammatical corrections. I went through a couple of the edits and some of the POV material had actually been taken out. So it looks good to me. Thanks for the heads up! Dismas|(talk) 05:30, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jreferee, I noticed you posted a message on Mel Etitis' talk page regarding some edits to Good Girl Gone Bad. Since Mel Etitis hasn't edited since July 1, I've decided to respond for him. What's actually the problem with the article? It seems fine to me; disruptive edits have been reverted. Acalamari 18:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mel Etitis had significant contributions to that article and, given the recent heavy activity to that article, I thought it would be beneficial for Mel to give the article a read through should he happen to see my post on his talk page. -- Jreferee (Talk) 19:25, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine then; thanks. Acalamari 20:38, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: AfD concerns

[edit]

I'm sorry but I just ran a quick test and I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. When {{subst:afd3 | pg=PageName}} is used, it generates the proper code. I'm probably missing something; could you be more specific? --MZMcBride 02:53, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I think I see what you're talking about. Give me a minute. --MZMcBride 02:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the problem by removing an errant vertical bar. Honestly, I have no idea how that code was able to function previously using the old plainlink code, but it was. Hopefully that will be the only issue found from the recent updates to Template:plainlink. Cheers. --MZMcBride 03:06, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Happy Slip Logo.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Happy Slip Logo.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at it and going from the last edit on the 10th here by Gscshoyru to the IP edit here the total changes over the 3 days came out to nothing. Weird. By the way the stat page is a bit deceptive, I added very little to the page and 27/28 of my edits were nothing more than reverting vandalism. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 07:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jreferee,

Before everything I was impressed by the dedication you have in Wikipedia. You really deserve appreciation. The problem with Islam and animals is like that of many other articles in that area. There is certainly an edit war going on there; not that there has not been any discussion on the talk page, to the contrary. It seems that no agreement has been achieved and edit war has surfaced again. I think the best way to proceed is through mediation and/or involvement of new editors. A page protection sometime helps towards mediation but in many cases it simply adds a delay to the system. Edit wars start once the article becomes unprotected. What is most needed I believe is involvement of new good-faith, experienced editors, not only here but in many other Islam related articles.

Best,

Wow, when you said heavy editing by unregistered users, you were definitely right. However, considering all those edits were identified as vandalism and reverted, the article is exactly the way it was before it got vandalized.
I do appreciate that you semi-protected the article. We really needed that. The vandalism had been going on for about a year, I think. Slartibartfast (1992) 21:54, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, wait... you're not the one who semi-protected the page. Well, thanks for warning me of the tons of edits. Slartibartfast (1992) 23:33, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. I do think the article could be improved if new and unregistered users were blocked from editing it. The problem with many of the unregistered edits is that they are in violation of NPOV and RS policies. Where possible, I try to improve sourcing of statements and show alternatives if both have RS. This article has become a target for activists seeking to insert all manner of partisan vitriol. JoeFriday 21:59, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I did some edits on black hole which were reverted by you. The edits were made anonymously, sorry about that, but at least the first of them is essential to correct an embarassing confusion in the current version of the page. The "Fireball" at RHIC is not a black hole in the traditional sense of the word, nobody thinks that it is, and the article makes it seem both that it is a "micro black hole" and second that it is a "questionable" phenomenon. It is neither. It is a well established phenomenon with an analogy to black hole physics. I left a summary of edits on the talk page for Black hole. Hope at least the first edit gets put back--- its really misleading in the current version. Likebox 02:43, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Just wanted to drop in and say thanks for protecting Desinicization campaign. I actually brought that to another administrator's attention the other day (Jmlk17), the constant edit warring between purely anon editors, and the unwillingness to follow policy and guidelines, was making anyone else's contributions impossible. I very nearly requested protection at WP:RFPP, but I thought I would try a post on the talk page and see if that helped first. Since you've picked it up, it now has excellent references, which was the main issue, with only one reference (in Chinese) it was impossible to know what was fact and what was POV. I have to say I'm really happy you got involved, because I don't know a thing about this subject, and it would have been very hard for me to "fix" it, lol. Excellently done! ArielGold 02:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on my talk page, but I'll repeat it here as well. Yes, it is a genuine anthropological interest article, but in the form it was when I found it, I would say that it provided little, if any, valid or interesting information for the average reader. And thanks again for all the work you did on that, it will make it much easier to manage POV edits now, and your work was simply excellent! ArielGold 03:18, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, I'd like to thank you for protecting Anna Wilding, lol. I was also asked to review that situation, and I'd like you to take a look at the conversation on Timotab's talk page regarding it. It is worrisome that the editor in question has made some threatening comments, regarding police action. While I don't put a lot of stock in such threats, they should be reviewed by an administrator, perhaps. The editor strongly appears to have a connection to the subject, so I've dropped a note regarding some of the important policies, guidelines, and other issues, (WP:RS, WP:BLP, WP:COI, WP:NPOV, etc.), in the hopes that at least it may help the editor be aware of some core issues. But I'd still like an administrator to take a look at some of those concerns, and perhaps add anything they feel is appropriate. Thanks again! ArielGold 03:39, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE Searching alternative weekly newspapers

[edit]

As you requested, I've set up Template:Alternative newspaper search. It works the same way as Template:Search, but for four newspapers I selected at random from List of alternative weekly newspapers. Obviously, someone else could add more newspapers, but the template seems to work OK. Is it what you wanted? WaltonOne 08:06, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh boy... alright, you ready for the next chapter in this saga? lol. I believe that immediately after I requested on the talk page, for 71.156.32.55 to create an article, they did so, with the name Adka92 (see contribs for both to compare times), and then, that user, realizing that they could no longer revert your redirect from Desinicization (I requested protection, as it was being reverted and the POV article being re-created), proceeded to create a brand new article, copying and pasting the old Desinicization article into it, De-sinicization, replacing the link on Sinicization to that, instead of to the old article. This is just getting ridiculous, and allowing yet another version of the same article. They are not happy with the renaming and moving, and I don't know enough about the topic to debate the issue. I hope you can figure this out, but it really appears to be unconstructive. ArielGold 09:38, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing saga update for you: De-sinicization was reidrected and protected. Now the editor has created Desinicize, again re-creating the original POV article, under a new name, Qpiuqwe . Alright, perhaps it could be another editor... but my Spidey sense says... probably not. lol. ArielGold 11:03, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concern:

[edit]

I would like to point out firstly, that I hardly call the "change" I made on the CN Tower page, "vandalism" And 2, if you look the facts up, the CN Tower is 181 stories tall. The skypod, which is the last observation deck, is 147 stories tall. But the "Tower" itself is equivalent to 181 building stories, trust me, I live in Toronto. I don't appreciate the threat when clearly you have not checked out the facts, and call my subtle change, Vandalism. I will take this higher if I need to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.57.146.167 (talk) 17:40, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for the wonderful thought, my friend! :) While I'm visiting you, I'll share my own favorite quote about our project with you. Sometimes, I've been pointed out by a few people that caring for our fellow editors is a waste of time, because all that matters is building our encyclopedia. I've always believed that a little spark of warmth is indeed important in that goal. I feel this reflects it quite nicely, in a rather humorous way:

There's a difference between treating Wikipedia like a playground, and treating it like a place where you can whistle while you work.

I cannot think of a better way to say, if we're not here to enjoy our time, then we shouldn't be editing in the first place. It's not to make others and ourselves miserable; but to build our project while sharing the fun of it with those we're blessed to meet here. At least, that's a belief I'll always live by as a wikipedian. Have a beautiful weekend, dear J! :) Love, Phaedriel - 22:37, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I hadn't looked at it in many months. Dunno what all the anon fuss was about, I've done some light cleanup to the text but the only glaring worries I found were sloppy syntax :) Gwen Gale 22:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for semi-protecting the page (I've added a semiprotection notice so people not able to edit would know why it is so). I agree. There appear to be legal threats on User:Real77's talk page, although difficult to tell because of the poor writing. Wilding

[edit]

Hey Jreferee - I'm going to do some work on the Wilding article. I've spoken to Anna Wilding on the phone. Much of the problem is that Tim is right in much of what he is doing, but the Real77 editor, who is a newbie and thus unaccustomed to "our ways" is also representing Wilding (she is in touch with him). It's not that Real is putting on incorrect stuff; he is putting on stuff for which there is little third party evidence. I am going to probably do--she has tentatively agreed--an interview with her, which with my Wikinews accreditation allows me to do original journalism. I think that once we do that as a third party source, many of the issues will be ironed out. Right now, the article is an utter mess, but I don't think there is a rush to do anything with it, if Tim and Real would take a bit of a break from it. I am about to paint my apartment and I also have a friend in from Spain, so it probably won't be until tonight or tomorrow morning. I hope you are doing well. --David Shankbone 20:11, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not having anything more to do with the Anna Wilding article. I feel completely harassed by Wilding and the head of her Official fan page, and to be honest, I am at a point where I don't even care if the article is deleted. In fact, it probably would be better that way to just delete it. --David Shankbone 11:40, 16 September 2007 (UTC) P.S. - I'll see what I can do about a photo for Albert Reed. --David Shankbone 11:41, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request lock on "iPod touch" article

[edit]

Hi,
I'd like to put in a request for semi-protection on the iPod touch article as written by you on my talk page. The article frequently gets updated with incorrect information, mostly by anonomous IP users.
Thanks,

Hi, thanks for your message. The milkshake article seems to attract vandalism because there is a pop song with the lyrics "my mamas milkshakes bring the boys into the yard". New and unregistered users seem to have a compelling urge to go to the milkshake article and replace it with that phrase! Please protect the page from these vandals... Indian rupee

[edit]

The Indian rupee article received heavy editing today by new/unregistered users, which I noticed at WikiRage.com. The article may benefit from a good review. According to Wikipedia Page History Statistics, you are one of the top contributors to that page. If you have the time, would you please read over the article and make any necessary changes. Thanks. -- Jreferee (Talk) 07:30, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have done what I think is necessary. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I don't know much about the Indian rupee specifically. But I do feel strongly about formatting and structure sometimes. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 04:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikirage protections

[edit]

Hi Jreferee. You seem to be indefinitely protecting articles based on wikirage, such as [3]. Could you, instead of basing protection on high levels of edits reported by another website, base it on our normal protection policy and practices. Could you review your recent protections and either unprotect them or set an expiry. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:01, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smalls notable? Hah

[edit]

How could you fail to honor the speedy tag on Smalls? Notability is not asserted by any method recognised in WP:BAND.

  • No independent works
  • No charted hit
  • No certified gold record
  • No international tour
  • No released albums
  • No notable members of other bands
  • No "Most prominent member" status
  • No Grammy/Juno/etc.
  • No contest win
  • No performance on notable work
  • No rotation on radio network
  • No half hour broadcast on TV or radio

Hello,

I don't understand the speedy deletion. I've added references to Cnet and Newsweek(!). How can that not "of no significane". What is your criteria of a signiciant source? Loopt is an example of another article about a similar company that has NOT been deleted.

Hi, that was my first page, i don't understand why you delete that, its about a pakistani fashion designer. if i done something wrong kindly u correct it by ur self, i m typeing the text below for that page. i have also upload the picture mmehdi.jpg. Best Regards & Thank in Adv. Jugnu.

After completing his degree in 2001,Mehdi took up his passion for sculpture and pottery but decided to switch to fashion designing in 2002,by creating a small collection. Its success led to the launch of the label Mehdi in 2004,with a solo Mehdi fashion show ,which is more than most newcomers have done in the beginning of their careers. Today Mehdi is one of the top most brands of Pakistan, producing and delivering the most stunning and glamourous designs for the people in love with fashion.Mehdi has a loyal clientele and admirers of his work, both from home as well as abroad, who trust only him, with their designing. Last year Mehdi’s show titled “Vanity Fair”met tremendous success and fame in Lahore,Karachi and Islamabad. After that he showed that line in New York,Houston,Miami,Chicago and California with all the top models from Pakistan. He received great appreciation and a long queue of clients. The designer proved there that our country has a true sense of fashion and it will be recognized as one of the most tasteful countries of the world soon. His “Viva Glam”the spring summer collection in citric colours won the hearts of many showed at the beginning of the season.Mehdi creates western outfits, evening wear, formal dresses,Sarees and bridal dresses.Mehdi will also be introducing his ready to wear line in the market here and abroad towards the end of 2007. www.mohdmehdi.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jugnu5 (talkcontribs) 07:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Problem at Brett Favre

[edit]

There is a user who was community banned quite a while ago (User:Starwars1955), and he keeps creating sock puppets to edit the Brett Favre article. Many of the admins who I knew around the time this guy was causing trouble are either retired or wikibreaking extensively, so I was hoping you could step in and start blocking his socks when they come up. Most recently is User:800 Home Runs. If you feel uncomfortable blocking a user without quite knowing what's going on, you can take a look here and here. Logic participants roster

[edit]

The logic participants roster was moved to Wikipedia:WikiProject Philosophy/Logic/participants. If the page history can be moved along with it, that would be wonderful. This is consistent with the rest of the philosophy task forces. Be well, Greg Bard 20:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You copied the page. You did not move the page. The effect is to give you credit in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Philosophy/Logic/participants]] page history for making posts that you in fact did not originally make. Help:Moving_a_page#Wikipedia-specific_help explains why you should not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content. Please read over Help:Moving a page. There is a tab at the top of the original roster page that says "Move". Click on that and move both the contents and the page history to a new page. If you are unable to move the original roster page, please let me know and I will do it for you. -- Jreferee (Talk) 21:05, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jreferee, just wanted to let you know that the PROD you placed on Chris Rush yesterday has been removed by an IP, who, in my opinion, has actually made the article much, much worse. I came across this in preparing to nominate the article for deletion myself. I'm somewhat familiar with Rush, and he did no found National Lampoon as the article claims. Furthermore, the article makes several claims which may violate WP:BLP, specifically the "His Downfall" section, which makes several unsubstantiated claims of drug and alcohol abuse, as well as some POV in that section, i.e. he found himself not the entertainer he once was. I'll leave this to you as to whether this should be nominated for deletion or not. Cheers, faithless (speak) 15:12, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I meant to do that and was trying to center the string of dates as well, but couldn't. Please center it if you can. Also, if you know of a better appearing date/time post, please post that as well. And if you have other improvements to my user page, please feel free to post them, too. Thanks! -- Jreferee (Talk) 15:47, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I fixed the string of dates. I also took the liberty of changing the background color to a tan/beige color, rather than that screaming loud blue, as the other parts of the page were done in browns/tans. If you hate that, and loved that bright blue, just holler at me, and I'd be happy to change it back. But, if you like it, and if you'd like the page to be more standardized with those colors, I'd be happy to do it similar to the page I made for Jakew, it would be no problem and I love doing stuff like this, so hey. ArielGold 18:47, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article: "50 Song Challenge"

[edit]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of 50 Song Challenge. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Quinkysan 16:27, 20 September 2007 (UTC) Could you not at least have waited for someone to answer my question about what sort of "evidence" you needed to accept the article? It was the last thing on the talk page. I find it kind of ridiculous that moderator opinion counts for more than, well, fact. The Challenge exists and is relevant. I am not the creator, and I have nothing to gain from promoting it. Just because you haven't heard of it and maybe can't see how it could be significant doesn't give you the right to deprive people of the information about it. Quinkysan 16:16, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date header

[edit]

What do you think of this, for a header at the userpage, to replace the line of {{date-}} templates:

Today is Saturday, November 23, 2024, 12:10 (UTC/GMT).
There are 6,914,876 articles on the English Wikipedia.

Maybe I could even add information about what numbered day into the year it is, how many days left, etc. Could put it into a centered table with a border or something maybe. Thoughts? ArielGold 10:57, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, if you hate it, I'll , but I hope you'll be . Check your userpage. I didn't try to make it too different, mostly just moving the sections into small cells of different color, but keeping the overall layout. I also updated your RfA page, as Dragon's wasn't working anymore, so I put on Tango's which updates the half hour of every hour. Also, I moved the top navigation bar into a subpage so it is easier to add/remove/change icons/links. If you hate the colors (I just based it from your "Quotes" page, and from the footers) and want it all to be a blue, or a teal/blue, or some other color, that's not a problem to fix/change. Anyway, I love doing things like this, and it is great experience for me, but if you don't like it, you can revert it. ~*Sniffle*~ (Hee hee j/k, I just went to town when you said "have at it" lol) ArielGold 12:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, whew, I'm happy that you like it! What do you think of the signatures? They're easy to mix and match if you want to. I like the last one best, myself. (But who asked me? lol) ArielGold 15:15, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking of using the default colors, and here is what comes out. The colors don't seem to be the same between the Jreferee and the "c". Any suggested improvements? -- Jreferee t/c 15:24, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's because the link colors are specified, for example, links you haven't visited are blue, and visited links are a purple. The custom sig markup allows us to over-ride those, thus allowing colors to appear no matter if they're visited or not. If you want the (t) and (c) (or t/c) to be in another color, I can give you the code for that if you want (and apologies if you know how to do that). ArielGold 15:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I think my signature is looking good (for now). If you think of any improvements or new items that would look good on my user page, please feel free just to add them. Thanks! -- Jreferee t/c 15:31, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ohhh an open invitation to go wild with creativity, lol. You may regret that! (Kidding, of course, but still... what are your favorite colors?) ArielGold 15:49, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. While I like the new sig, I'm sure going to have to get used to it, I'm used to identifying you immediately by your signature! lol. ArielGold 15:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hee hee, there, now I recognize you! Did you want to have two copies of the picture of the day at the top here? ArielGold 16:06, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Butting in here: Here are the instructions for Moving over a redirect, and Fixing cut and paste moves, as well as How to fix cut and paste moves. Currently there are two replica articles. These are not desired as they create forks, so I would encourage you to list the pages at the Cut and paste move repair holding pen to allow an administrator to repair the history and remove the duplicate article (unless Jreferee wants to undertake that task). Hope that helps! ArielGold 18:40, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It does!--Mantanmoreland 18:49, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You don't just plop in to an article like this and peremptorily redirect its contents without discussion. This is not some stub on a detective novel. It has been painstakingly edited over a period of many months. I can't recall the capitalization issue ever being brought up in this sometimes hotly debated article. These moves need to be reinstated and the page protected until it has been discussed.--Mantanmoreland 18:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • One complication, Jref, is that there now appears to be two identical Talk pages, even though the articles themselves have been returned. I'm unclear as to what needs to be done.--Mantanmoreland 19:01, 20 September 2007 (UTC) No, it's weirder. The article now has a small t in Their and the talk page of the same article has a capital T.--Mantanmoreland 19:06, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

db-move on Whitefish Mountain Resort

[edit]

Hi Jreferee, I sort of explained what I was trying to do in my edit summary, but now see I didn't explain in the actual db-notice itself, and didn't give the name of the other article so you could check.

The current article at Whitefish Mountain Resort is just a cut and paste move that another editor made from Big Mountain Ski Resort. I just need Whitefish Mountain Resort gone so I can do a page move to the correct name. I don't need a merge of the histories, as there is no history to merge. That's OK, right? --barneca (talk) 18:36, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It also just now occurs to me I didn't mention a crucial piece of information; the move is due to the fact that the resort itself changed names a couple of months ago. --barneca (talk) 18:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(copy of your reply on my talk page) I can't delete the Whitefish Mountain Resort article because it deletes the page edit history with it. The GFDL requires acknowledgement of all contributors, and editors continue to hold copyright on their contributions unless they specifically give up this right. Hence it is required that edit histories be preserved for all major contributions until the normal copyright expires. See Help:Moving_a_page#Wikipedia-specific_help. Please use the move tab if there is consensus. Also, please read through Help:Moving a page. -- Jreferee T/C 18:56, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know, that's what I'm trying to fix. The page I want deleted, Whitefish Mountain Resort, has no history, except for the act of pasting the contents of Big Mountain Ski Resort. If you look at Big Mountain Ski Resort, it's currently 100% identical, and [[Big Mountain Ski Resort is the article who's history needs preserving. Whitefish Mountain Resort is the article violating GFDL, and that's the whole reason I want to move the page, rather than allow the cut and past move to stay. --barneca (talk) 19:05, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! --barneca (talk) 19:15, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of userspace offensive to you

[edit]

I have removed most sandbox space that offended you. How many spaces am I allowed? I would like some scratch ones available because when I need one, I have already copied something and want a place to paste it. I have been the victim of several articles that were "immediately deleted" unfairly, I thought. I had no backup. There is very little warning on those things. If I were home and had little warning, I could copy it to my own hard disk since you are so pressed for space. I am currently on the road with a hospitalized in-law awaiting his demise. Could further deletion await his burial or do you need further space now? Student7 23:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
