File permission problem with File:Raising a father book cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Raising a father book cover.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

• make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
• Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give User:Jpworth3rd/sandbox a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Raising a Father. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. Help request

Welcome to Wikipedia. You can re-use your sandbox simply by editing it to over-write the redirect left there when your page was moved. It is probably a good idea to replace the sandbox template at the top by typing {{User sandbox}} on the top line.

Another good way to make a page for a draft article is to click on Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title. That will make you a page of the form "User:Jpworth3rd/Articlename", which means that you can have more than one draft on the go at a time.

Okay, if I understood how it got redirected in the first place, I might understand these directions, but how to "over-write the redirect" is exactly what I asked for help with because I have no idea how to do that. Where it says "Raising a Father" at the top of the page, you'll see "(Redirected from User:Jpworth3rd/sandbox)" below it. If you click User:Jpworth3rd/sandbox there, then you can hit Edit and delete the redirect line. Jackmcbarn (talk) 19:28, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

Moving pages during an AFD

I don't think moving a page from article space is allowed during an AFD. Now, if you were closing the AFD, that would be different. As much as I want to get Kashif Saleem in its current (albeit very much improved) form out of the main encyclopedia, established processes should be followed. I am sorry for not complying with policy. I thought I was acting on your recommendation to move the article off the main space so that it could be worked on. The procedures for closing a deletion discussion are in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion#How an AfD discussion is closed. In general, once you express an opinion in an AFD, you are no longer considered "uninvolved" and are therefore not supposed to close it (some of the "speedy close" criteria are exceptions to this rule). Any proposed actions, such as "move to draft," should be deferred until the discussion is closed (again, there are exceptions, such as deletion under WP:SPEEDY criteria, where the deletion may happen first then the AFC closed as "speedy delete"). I hope this helps.

By the way, as a general rule, unless a non-admin is 100% sure of what the relevant rules are and he is 100% sure his actions are in accord with the relevant rules, he should not close an AFD even if a non-admin closure is allowed for that particular AFD. The same goes for other situations where an administrator typically closes the discussion but a non-admin closure is allowed. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Nick VanderLaan shooting a hoop.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Nick VanderLaan shooting a hoop.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Paid edits and alternative accounts

Hi. I gather that you have been employed at times to conduct paid editing on Wikipedia. While there are varying opinions about this, the current policy does not prohibit paid editing work. However, it does require transparency. Under the Terms of Use, editors who are working for a client when editing Wikipedia are required to disclose this connection. You have a few options as to how - you can disclose your relationship to the client in edit summaries, on the talk page of the article, or on your user page - but it needs to be disclosed via one of the options. However, of greater concern is your use of alternative accounts (sockpuppets) to make the paid edits. The normal policy would be to block all of the related accounts, but it would be nice if there was a better solution. Thus, rather than block this one, will you agree to stick just to the one account for your editing, and disclose any future paid editing which you may undertake?
