User talk:Joshua Lee Cohen
A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Joshua Lee Cohen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Drm310 (talk) 20:48, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
User page
[edit]Sorry, but your user page does not conform to Wikipedia's user page guidelines. It is intended for basic information about yourself or your Wikimedia-related activities. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking site, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, CV/resumé or lengthy autobiography. Thanks. --Drm310 (talk) 20:49, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Joshua Lee Cohen (talk) 21:13, 4 December 2014 (UTC) "Note that simply having a page on a company or product in one's userspace does not qualify a userpage for deletion" This is academic publishing in the reference. No business material is referenced.
- It wasn't promotional per se, but it was still an abuse of what user pages are supposed to be used for in Wikipedia. A low number of edits, recent registration and expansive CV pasted into userspace is not something we generally welcome, because it's evidence that you are not here to help build an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is not a web host or blog. Also see WP:AUTO. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:48, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Joshua Lee Cohen
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
