Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Tawfiq Rawnak
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Tawfiq Rawnak, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 15:54, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
Your reason here: Hi Bbb, I am a little confused on why my account was blocked, especially indefinitely (that sounds like a serious offense for something I didn't do). I read through the different reasons for blocking, but I don't think I qualify for any of those. I read your reason as "not coming here for an encyclopedia" which tells me that you believe this is unsolicited advertising or spam. I want to let you know that this is neither of that, and I have read through the other rules on reason for indefininite ban (i.e. vandalism, harrassment, etc...) and I don't qualify for those either. The most recent actions I did was to post a recent article to be reviewed, then MicrobiologyMarcus responded with some information, and I sent him a message to offer a counterargument. It was then I was blocked by your account. The purpose of making this article is to put information that is publically available online, with the proper citations, not intending to spam or anything in that nature. I hope this can be looked into, as I don't believe an indefinite ban is just, especially without warning. Jonjay22 (talk) 16:34, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You addressed this to Bbb23, but unblock requests are to ask for a third party to review the block. If you wish to negotiate with Bbb23, you don't need to make an unblock request. However, I will review it. You indicated that you are writing on Mr. Rawnak's behalf, you failed to disclose a conflict of interest and/or paid editing status("Paid editing" includes employment in any capacity). You essentially posted his resume, and not a summary of independent reliable sources that show how sources think Mr. Rawnak is a notable person as Wikipedia defines it. That, plus your edits with false edit summaries(you indicated you removed content but you added content, except for two edits) that appeared designed to game the system to get autoconfirmed status to create an article yourself, only leads to the conclusion that you are indeed not here to build an encyclopedia, but to tell the world about Mr. Rawnak. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:53, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Hello, thank you 331dot for the detailed explanation; I was looking for something like this to see what errors I have done. First and formost, apologies for the addressing to other Wikipedia members, I am new to Wikipedia so I am not sure how to approach something like this. I am writing the response in this format, as the ban prevents me from replying to 331dot. Second, Mr. Rawnak is someone that I networked with at a conference, I was not sure if I was supposed to declare that as a conflict of interest. Also, I would like to declare that this isn't paid editing, as I was not employed to create this. To the next statement about posting, resumes, I have posted a mix of Mr. Rawnak's website, LinkedIn, and other reliable sources that have noted on his work. Other citations used were interviews or articles about Mr. Rawnak, some with at least 4 mentions in different news articles. For future reference, is using someone's Website or LinkedIn allowed for Wikipedia? Next part, I apologize for the lack of specific edit summaries for my 10 edits, that is my mistake. I was attempting to avoid redundancy by either adding or removing certain words that create vagueness. I will try to be more contributive in the future. With this, I hope I can be unblocked and able to try again. Jonjay22 (talk) 13:43, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Your appeal demonstrates that you don't yet understand Wikipedia requirements regarding notability, sourcing and conflicts of interest. Please see 331dot's message below for details. I'm also concerned regarding your contention in this appeal that "Mr. Rawnak is someone that I networked with at a conference", but on the now deleted Draft talk:Tawfiq Rawnak you stated "This is Jonjay22, writing on behalf of Tawfiq Rawnak" (empahsis mine), which denotes a stronger connection between the two of you. I don't think that any block appeal will be granted as long as you intend to continue writing about Rawnak.Ponyobons mots 22:34, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
Personal websites and social media are useless for establishing notability. Wikipedia articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic. And yes, "networking" with someone is a conflict of interest. Someone else will review your request, but it is doubtful that you will be unblocked to edit about Mr. Rawnak. 331dot (talk) 21:23, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
