User talk:John David Prior
June 2023
[edit]Hello, I'm Adakiko. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, John Prior (musician), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 11:34, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 13:13, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- It's not promotional, it's fact. John David Prior (talk) 19:16, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- It is a conflict of interest as defined by Wikipedia rules, and it is self-promotional. If you have questions about how Wikipedia works, please ask at the Teahouse. -- Alexf(talk) 19:35, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
Conflict of interest notice
[edit]Hello, John David Prior. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page John Prior (musician), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 11:34, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
- The information you removed is relevant to my work as an artist and the people who follow my work. It is fact, not opinion, it is stated in APRA royalty statements. I included a link to APRA, and a public Facebook post, but apparently you don't accept them as reliable sources, perhaps you are not registered to view APRA's song database. I could upload my APRA statements, but I would have to redact payments. Otherwise I could organise an interview with a media outlet and talk about my work just to get a link to their article, which is a lot of work just to satisfy you. My other additions to this page over the years have been referenced and verified, many after they were added to my page. Please restore what you removed. There is a lot of content on your article that is uncited. Adakiko (talk) 21:15, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
