Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because it's a new user account, created as part of a training for an editathon this afternoon at the Glasgow School of Art, and not a vandal account :) I'm a Wikimedian in Residence at Museums Galleries Scotland and am running the training, I can confirm that user:JocelynGrant and user:CBowles are two separate people. Please assume good faith. Lirazelf (talk) 11:26, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there - think we have crossed wires. I'm lirazelf, my WiR project page is here. I'm training a group of people, including this user. We're doing an editathon this afternoon, event page here. All the best! Lirazelf (talk) 11:46, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Lirazelf: This is unrelated to the previous messages. I'm not sure RHaworth will have seen your message, using {{re}} is a good habit to get into. (I believe this edit will notify them, so they'll see it) --  Kethrus |talk to me  13:12, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, JocelynGrant! Thank you so much for taking part in the Glasgow School of Art Archives editathon!

Now that we've gotten started, I hope that you'll stay logged in and have a go at editing some more articles. If you're not feeling bold enough to write an(other) article straight away, why not try a small edit first, or adding a link? Don't worry about being perfect, Wiki is a constantly evolving entity. Fortunately there's a whole team of editors just like you who can help.

Welcome! Now have some cake...

You can't break Wikipedia, but in case you're still nervous here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Remember, if you are writing on a talk page, please sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. See you soon!

A tag has been placed on Saul Yaffie requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.gsaarchives.net/archon/index.php?p=core/search&subjectid=677. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Couple of deletions

[edit]

Hello hello - a couple of the new articles were speedy deleted before we could improve them I'm afraid - Alexander Proudfoot and Alex J. Musgrove but I think that we should fix the issues and replace, would you be happy to do so? More than happy to advise and help! Worthy articles, just need to ensure that the text isn't so close to the GSA Archives info :) Lirazelf (talk) 16:20, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Lirazelf:Hello, I saw that and I wanted to thank you for looking at the articles (including my own) and assisting with their correction. I will look into updating mine, and I will retry the Alexander Proudfoot and Alex J. Musgrove articles again. The advise and assistance I have seen so far has been really helpful, and I may very well take you up on your offer of advise and help! Thanks again for the training last Friday, it was really excellent. (I have tried to follow the advise from Kethrus so that you will be notified when I reply, can you let me know if you get this? All the best!)JocelynGrant (talk) 17:55, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Help us improve wikimeets by filling in the UK Wikimeet survey!

[edit]

Hello! I'm running a survey to identify the best way to notify Wikimedians about upcoming UK wikimeets (informal, in-person social meetings of Wikimedians), and to see if we can improve UK wikimeets to make them accessible and attractive to more editors and readers. All questions are optional, and it will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please fill it in at:
