Undeletion Request of Getter (musician)
Hello.
About one month ago, I nominated "Getter (musician)" for deletion via AFD because it wasn't notable enough then. However, after doing my research I find that the article is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. So, I would like to request its undeletion, if possible. You were the closing admin, who deleted the page. Please guide me on the procedures to get it undeleted. - TheMagnificentist (talk) 15:00, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, @TheMagnificentist:. Given that several people agreed with the deletion and none dissented, starting the article anew with the material that makes it notable may be the best way to go about it. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:26, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
Need Help
HI! How can I prevent people getting into my userpage? The450 (talk) 21:43, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, @The450:. There are several different choices depending on what your problem with them is. If people removing the categories is the issue, then sorry, but nothing will be done about it because these categories do not belong there. If it's vandalism by IP addresses, you can ask for semiprotection. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 21:46, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) How can I stop people from being able to edit the page apart from me? The450 (talk) 22:01, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
- You can't (except in a few unusual circumstances). "Anyone can edit" is one of Wikipedia's most fundamental principles—note that it's the first thing on the Main Page other than "Welcome to Wikipedia" itself, and note that each time you click the "edit" button on your userpage (or any other page), you're shown a warning that
Work submitted to Wikipedia can be edited, used, and redistributed by anyone
. It's considered good manners not to edit other peoples' userpages without asking them, but you can't stop them; certainly not in a case like this, where I was removing something that violated Wikipedia's own policies. If it reaches the point where anonymous vandals are causing a particular issue, you can request that a page be semiprotected, preventing editors who haven't had an account for at least four days from editing it, but to protect any page with a stronger level of protection than that requires very exceptional circumstances. (Even semiprotection is unusual; at any given time Wikipedia has about 10,000 semiprotected pages—roughly half of which are templates rather than "real" pages—out of our 40,780,199 total pages.) ‑ Iridescent 00:27, 19 November 2016 (UTC)
About Page Deletion - Tripoto
Hi Jo-Jo, Greetings, I would like to ask why a page [Tripoto] created by me, deleted by you.? Really I am unable to understand the reason why the page is deleted, Its all about a authenticate startup technology travel company.. Whats wrong with this page ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srvkumar09 (talk • contribs) 05:55, 19 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, @Srvkumar09:. I deleted it because the people in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tripoto had decided it didn't meet WP:NCORP, our inclusion guideline for companies. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:47, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Administrators, bureaucrats, oversighters and checkusers can now use two-factor authentication. This makes their Wikimedia accounts more secure. This can be turned on in Special:Preferences. There are discussions on how to best turn it on for everyone. [1]
- You can now search for file properties. For example you can search for media type, how big a file is or what resolution it has. [2]
- The latest Collaboration team products newsletter has been published. It has more details about their work than Tech News has.
Problems
- A hacker group is hacking Wikimedia accounts. They can probably do this because users have the same passwords on Wikimedia wikis as on other sites. Please have a password you use only on the Wikimedia wikis and nowhere else. This is especially important for administrators, bureaucrats, oversighters and checkusers. These users can also turn on two-factor authentication. [3]
Changes this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
- RevisionSlider will be a default feature on German, Arabic and Hebrew Wikipedia. This will happen on 22 November. It will come to other wikis later. [4][5][6]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 22 November at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- It will be possible to do cross-wiki search. The developers who work on this are looking for communities that want to test this. [7]
- Hovercards will leave the beta stage. The Wikimedia Foundation Reading Web team wants communities to set Hovercards as a default option for readers who are not logged in. Communities that are interested can say so on the Hovercards talk page. [8]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, Jo-Jo Eumerus. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Hello
Hello Jo-Jo Eumerus, It seems this article Trizzy was deleted and protected from creation. Can it be created? so i can add this article as one of my draft, looking forward to your response. Have a wonderful day Jaquay Mcbride (talk) 06:21, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, Jaquay Mcbride. You'd need to show that the article topic is notable as we define on Wikipedia, say by writing up a complying draft at Draft:Trizzy. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 06:54, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, I have finished my draft for Draft:Trizzy can you review and see if its notable enough to be included in wikipedia, Thank You.Jaquay Mcbride (talk) 07:49, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Jaquay Mcbride:: Probably the best way is by sending it through Wikipedia:Articles for creation. I don't know enough about music article sources to judge whether it'd be notable. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:16, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Jo-jo eumerus:: Ok, but on the article page it says: This page is protected from creation, so only administrators can create it. if it is approved how will the page get created? Jaquay Mcbride (talk) 18:56, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- You know, I must ask, @Jaquay Mcbride:, are you perchance the same person as User:Reuben1995? There is some similarity in your edits that makes me wonder. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:48, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Jo-jo eumerus: I'm not familiar with that user Jaquay Mcbride (talk) 20:36, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- OK. The people who review "Articles for creation" requests will ask for unprotection if the drafts are sufficient. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 20:47, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of Page - MakeUseOf
Hi, I participated in the proposal for deletion (for the record I was on the keep side). I saw that you deleted the article. I was wondering what your rationale was? As far as I could tell there was no consensus reached. The discussion largely was a "I think it should be kept" against "It should be deleted" without as far as I could see, any compelling evidence that the page was not notable? Thanks --Drmotley (talk) 13:59, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, @Drmotley:. Consensus does take into account whether the opinions expressed are based in policy and evidence. A lot of Facebook likes and a high Alexa ranking are not evidence of notability as we define it and you cannot use them to claim that a topic is notable; our concept of notability is entirely about whether there is - or is expected to be - material to source an article from, see WP:WHYN. Further, such usage statistics can be easily gamed. The uncontested lack of reliable sources on the other hand is a valid reason for deletion, considering that verifiability is one of our core policies, as well as WP:DEL-REASON points 6, 7 and 8. Kool Magazine
Hello - just been looking for 'notable' publications in the East Of England relating to my dissertation on Youth Culture in the 90's. I'm a student at the UEA and my initial research with the local media and business suggests that this was a landmark publication that paved the way for others who went on to do great things. How do you suggest we get this re instated please?
Jane 146.162.240.243 (talk) 13:02, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Jane, I've replied to your comment at Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Kool Magazine. That sets out what would need to be located before the magazine could have an article. —C.Fred (talk) 13:36, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
Thanks C.Fred - so how is it that paid for magazines can feature i.e. GQ Magazine, and free circulation ones cant? Jane 146.162.240.243 (talk) 13:44, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Because free magazines usually generate so little attention that no reliable sources cover them, while GQ gets substantial coverage and wins awards. —C.Fred (talk) 13:46, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
OK - this one's in the British Library as an example of a notable publication from that region. They also won Business awards and were featured in the Tate Modern when it opened as part of the Millennium Volunteers "Influencers of Youth Culture" photographic exhibition. Would that count? 146.162.240.243 (talk) 13:51, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe, possibly, and doubtful. First, it would depend on how how the British Library catalogued it and what they wrote about it. Second, the business awards would depend on who gave the awards (local or national, for instance) and how much coverage the awards got. Finally, a photo of the magazine cover is not substantial coverage. —C.Fred (talk) 14:19, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
Cool - thank you - really useful for my research. Interestingly, Kool Magazine had a 50,000 monthly circulation by 1998 when the average combined monthly circulation of the top 5 paid for mags (via newsagents) only hit 268 (Sept 1998 - NFRN) in Norwich and Broadlands. May have to change my dissertation subject ;-) Thanks again - Jane 146.162.240.243 (talk) 14:35, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
Question about AFD closures
Good morning/afternoon/evening! I've seen you closing a number of AfDs, so I have come to you with a question. I've recently returned to Wikipedia after a several-year absence. When I was most active around 2004-2009, I closed a lot of AfDs. As expected, there were sometimes disagreements with a closing decision that were taken to Deletion Review. In the last couple of days, though, I've had two separate people ask me to re-open two different AfDs and change the closing result. Is this something that is done now? I don't recall ever being asked to literally re-open a closed discussion like that before. Joyous! | Talk 15:41, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, @Joyous!: Standard practice when contesting an AfD result is to first ask the closing administrator to reconsider. Some people will go to WP:DELREV immediately, which is also permitted but they may be pointed to the admin's user talk page then. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:33, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
- Wow, SO different now. Thank you for letting me know, so I can adjust my attitude a little. Joyous! | Talk 19:56, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

deleting the page of khlaif gharaibeh
Dear Sir we want to know the reason for deleting the page of khlaif gharaibeh ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nkgharaibeh (talk • contribs) 14:56, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- Greetings, Nkgharaibeh. People in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Khlaif Gharaibeh decided that it doesn't meet our inclusion criteria. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:59, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
how can we update the previous content to be suitable ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.147.204.163 (talk) 15:08, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- You can't. No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. It's an essay, but quite accurate. Other people - reliable sources, that is, not everybody who writes stuff qualifies - need to write about Khlaif Gharaibeh before we can restore it. Changes this week
- When someone tries to log in to a blocked account they will be blocked by a cookie. This means their browser will be blocked even if they change their IP address. This makes it more difficult for returning vandals. [9]
- When you use Content Translation to adapt a template to a new translation it will work differently. You can adapt big templates such as infoboxes. Translators will have control over the template parameters. A first version of this is released this week. It is possible it will not work correctly with all templates. There will be more updates for this soon. [10]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 29 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 30 November. It will be on all wikis from 1 December (calendar).
- Gadgets will have a new option called "hidden". This means you can register gadgets that can't be turned on or off from the preferences page. Hiding gadgets was already possible by using
[rights=hidden]
. You should now use[hidden]
instead.[rights=hidden]
in old gadgets should be changed to[hidden]
. [11][12]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 29 November at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Tool Labs could get two new policies. One would be to be able to adopt tools without an active developer. The other would be a right to fork. There is a request for comment on Meta.

DYK for Sairecabur
On 29 November 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sairecabur, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Sairecabur has the world's highest submillimetre telescope and is adjacent to a peak that may have been one of the world's highest volcanoes at over 7,000 metres (23,000 ft)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sairecabur. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sairecabur), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Watchfinder
Hi there! I have been away from wikipedia for a while now and having just logged in I noticed that an article I contributed to, Watchfinder, has been deleted by you. I don't wish to challenge the deletion, but I did read the AfD discussion and was surprised by many of the comments. I would very much like to review the text of the deleted article to see whether I agree with these opinions, and whether anything can be done to rewrite it to achieve a new consensus for notability and verifiability. Given that the subject is by far the most successful company in its field (a multi-billion dollar industry), I believe than there is at least some chance that this is possible!
Basically my question is might you be able to send me the deleted text (what I wrote was a long time ago and I can't remember it well, nor do I know if it changed in the years since), just so I can take a look? Thanks so much for your understanding! Thedarkfourth (talk) 20:05, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

- Possibly, although the versions each of them created are fairly different. Something for WP:SPI, perhaps? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:28, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

FAC for Lake Tauca
Hi -- I got a little tied up this evening and haven't had much of a chance to read the article, but if you're interested in taking it to FAC, I can read it and post a review on the talk page. The review would be more or less what I'd post at FAC; I'd also copyedit as I go through. That should give us a read on whether it's close to ready for FAC, and we can go from there. If you're interested, let me know, and I'll try to do the review in the next couple of days. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 02:10, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Mike Christie: Yes, that would be lovely! Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 06:45, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- OK -- if I don't get to it this morning, it'll be tonight or tomorrow. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 10:58, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- Mike, I also have Jennifer Lawrence prepared for FAC. Could you take a look and tell if the prose is good enough? – FrB.TG (talk) 09:18, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, FrB.TG, glad to see you decided to stick with FAC. Yes, I can take a look, but it'll be after I finish helping Jo-Jo with Lake Tauca. That might be two or three weeks, depending on how fast the two of us work, so you may want to ask someone else. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:46, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

La Reforma Caldera title
I'll probably be able to copyedit it today. Would a better title be La Reforma (caldera)? "Caldera" doesn't need to be capitalized (although I'll link it in the first sentence, since I was unsure of its exact meaning), and parenthetical disambiguation is customary here. Very nice article; I'm looking forward to copyediting it. All the best, Miniapolis 15:09, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Miniapolis: Yes, that article's probably better off under the parens title. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:01, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply; I'll move it, and ping you when I finish the copyedit. All the best, Miniapolis 18:00, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
Hello, Jo-Jo Eumerus. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for La Reforma (caldera) at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Good luck with GA and all the best, Miniapolis 14:13, 6 December 2016 (UTC) |
