Admin
Thanks for your consideration. It's nice to know someone has noticed my work and think that I could be admin material. To be honest, I have thought about it, but right now I'm just content with being your regular average Wiki editor. Maybe down the road in a couple months I'd consider a nomination but right now I'm trying to be active again on the projects I've joined and helping out wherever I can. Sorry about the misreport of a vandal for blocking... Deleted Page
I am a new to using wikipedia, excuse me for any obvious mistakes... A page I created seems to have been deleted by you for reasons I don't understand. The was "Null&Void". You say the band are of no interest to anyone which is untrue. How do I reinstate the page? Andygozindy 15:04, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a matter of interest, but rather notability. Jmlk17 12:43, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
So how do I convince of notability.....and get the page back up? I tried to get the page back up and it deleted itself. There is more than one mention of this band within wikipedia. I thought I would create a page to explain who they were. Thanks
- First off, what was the name of the band again? Secondly, no worries about being new. Sorry that a deletion conversation is coming right off the bat, but let's see if we can get it figured out... Jmlk17 02:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Ernest H. Cates
Why would you even consider deleting the article "Ernest H. Cates" ?
For lack of notability?! He is one of the most notable judoka in the US. The Kodokan is very stingy with its higher ranks, and nobody is awarded an 8th dan unless they have made outstanding contributions to the sport. As a comparison, Mike Swain is only a 5th dan, and Judo legend Gene LeBell was promoted to 9th dan just 2 years ago. I suspect this article was proposed for deletion by someone with a grudge. If Wikipedia isn't going to include articles about a judoka like Ernie Cates, then Wikipedia is a very poor source for martial arts information.
Eric Moss founder DojoWeb.com
- Easy, it had a tag on it for almost 6 days, saying it needed expansion and such to fit a notability ideal. Yet no one did anything to help the article, nor did it seem to have much of anything to offer...it was deleted for not having sources, nor showing any reason to have it due to the lack. Issue
Searchwriter 04:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC) Appreciate the due diligence, but a profile of the Pacific Northwest's largest law firm brandished with the blanket assertion that it is patently self-promotion or blatant advertising overlooks the historical narrative description of the entry, or consideration of the subject matter on its merits. Indeed, contemporary legal firms, such as Perkins Coie, Davis Wright Tremaine and several other leading firms referencedin Wikipedia, who are of either lesser size, stature or age, have not been subjected to such scrutiny. Why rule out this Northwest landmark institution?
- What exactly is noteworthy about the institution? Unless it can match the issues in notability here, it shouldn't stay in the form it was in. Jmlk17 04:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

David Toscana
Hi. I was searching information on David Toscana in Wikipedia (because I have been reading a book by him), but I have found only information that a page about him was deleted. Folowing the help from guidelines I have checked that you have deleted the page. As there is only tag db-bio in the deletion summary I suppose it was because if the non-notability. I am not sure he is really so non-notable. As a Mexican writer, writing in Spanish, he has been translated at least to Slovak language - because it is the language I have read the book in. Moreover, there is a page on him the ES Wikipedia ([4]). Could you please provide more explanation for this deletion? Or even better, reconsider undeletion, e.g. with supporting the page with translation of Spanish text? --Ruziklan 15:00, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I know that it's still going to be a few hours before you are on, but I wanted to see if I can get your opinion on something. Last night I attempted to speedy delete this but first had my tag deleted twice by both the author and what I suspect is a sockpuppet of the author. Then I had the deletion turned down on the technicality that I didn't put it in the correct catergory for deletion (nevermind that there really isn't an appropriate catergory for deleting movies.)
I don't want to put an uncontested deletion up because this guy is just going to remove it. I don't want to go for a full on AfD debate because it's a mockery of the system. This article is either a hoax or a vanity piece for a movie this guy is making his his garage. Both companies that he mentions do not exist - they neither have references on the internet nor do they have a business license with the State of California (I know, I called :) ) in which they are located. And the supposed star, producer, director, score composer, et al of the movie's page was speedy deleted by me yesterday for the exact same lack of notability.
I'd just be happy if you took a look at this and either pushed things along for me without putting this through the whole process, or tell me that this is the only way so I can just get it over with and move forward.
As always, thanks. Trusilver 23:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

- I've seen the advice you've given Truesilver, & I think it may not be quite correct. Speedy A7 does not apply to motion pictures, and the reason you gave on the deletion log for the talk page "This article is a vanity page that was created by a user with the same name as the alleged writer and actor" is not a reason for speedy either. Please recheck WP:Deletion Policy
- I think the best thing to do now would be for you to undelete it and send it to Afd if you think it should be deleted, as it probably should. If you think I am interpreting wrong, ask at WT:SPEEDY. DGG 01:09, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Jmlk17, why did you block 212.219.92.98 for 6 months? User:Jungworld.com
This account has been around for two years. The webpage is a personal webpage. There is no promotion on-going and prohibition against usernames resembling webpages & email addresses is newer than this account. Therefore, grandfathering is applicable. I request that you consider unblocking the user. Thanks. -- JLaTondre 23:27, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- From the Username Policy, E-mail addresses or web page addresses are generally considered likely to be promotional. Note that for a long time, email addresses were not prohibited. Usernames created before January 1, 2007 that are email addresses are grandfathered under this policy and are not prohibited. So in my opinion, for now, there is no clause for a website. I may still be mistaken, but, for now, I believe I am not. Jmlk17 23:31, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- From the Username Policy, the criteria is Promotional usernames that attempt to promote a group or company on Wikipedia. This username is not promoting a group or company. There is nothing in the criteria that states webpage are prohibited; only promotional use and this is not promotional. Why should we punish a user that has contributed positively for two years? -- JLaTondre 23:37, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Kustom (band) - part 2
Well is there any way we can post anything about the band Kustom on wikipedia without having it deleted? Just because it is not notable does not mean that we cannot post it? Kustom is a popular band in our community and this makes it well-known, so why can't it be on Wikipedia? Why can't people use wikipedia as a source to gain more information on the band? Does the band have to be world-famous to be on wikipedia?
Why should donations be made to Wikipedia if you can't post something on wikipedia without having it deleted - all the hard work put in the bin because someone decides its not worthy.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Matthewmatthew (talk • contribs) 18:42, June 27, 2007
- Not really buddy. Notability is the essence of Wikipedia. Why would we have a page for every single band out there? There must be tens of thousands of bands out there. I know of local bands around myself that are locally popular, but if they travel just 25-50 miles south to a major town, they wouldn't even get booked. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but if we did that, then the entire website would lose much credibility. As for the donations, Wikipedia is a great resource. I personally do not donate to the project, as monetary issues are high for me right now, but I believe what I do as an admin around here is help enough for now. I hope this helps, and please don't let this discourage you. My first page I ever created was deleted within like 15 minutes. Jmlk17 00:48, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

George Reynolds
I think you deleted George Reynolds and protected it from re-creation to solve a disambig issue, which I have no issue with.
However, can you remove the protection and move George Reynolds (Mormon) there now? It appears to me that this article no longer requires the diambig tag -(Mormon). Thanks for your help. –SESmith 12:55, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, I am confused. George Reynolds (business) still exists, as does George W. M. Reynolds. Why does not George Reynolds still redirect to George Reynolds (disambiguation); or rather, why didn't George Reynolds (disambiguation) get moved to George Reynolds? -SESmith 15:04, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

garage punk
one thing... we have been having a little problem with vandalism. someone keeps chopping out links to garagepunk.com and the Woggles. Why else would someone chop a link to just one band? but why would garagepunk.com be removed? It's a central clearing house for photos, podcasts, discussion, info on gigs, etc. Goner is also a message board. Wwouldn't that make it a fan site as well? The site's sponsored by a store, so they also sell records. Wouldn't linking to them be promoting commercial interests? Frankly, both belong in there, from how I'm seeing it, but the backstory is that there's this feud between the two sites. It's mostly perpetuated by some members of the Goner board. pretty juvenile, but still a headache. and of those who are editing, Rod Strychnine is the guy on the up and up.
