Vandalism's correcting

Don't correct the Vandalized articles, but make reverts! Read3r 12:19, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

  • To translate: please don't correct the spelling mistakes in vandalism as you did at Agurzil. If you're going to correct spelling (and good on you) please check the edit history before you do so. At the moment, what you're accidentally doing is institutionalising and legitimising vandalism and it would be better not to do that. Thanks. ЯEDVERS 12:25, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Also, whilst I'm hereabouts, your edit summaries for your spelling corrections are a bit sarcastic. It might be better to drop the sarcasm as it can be seen as WP:BITE to new users and is also off-putting to more established users. Thanks. ЯEDVERS 12:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
@Redvers, I do fully agree with your first translation! Read3r 13:02, 1 October 2006 (UTC) @Jimothytrotter, It is good to have a good knowledge about programming while being 15 years old.Read3r 13:15, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza Barnstar
Well done on welcoming people into the Wikipedia community DARReNTALK 19:54, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

A word in your ear

Reverting good faith edits using automated tools is considered to be very bad form and users doing so can be blocked from editing. Should you see friends of yours doing so in future you might like to advise them not to, as your close relationship with them means their block for misusing such tools might impact upon other editors. Cheers. ЯEDVERS 20:24, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

The wikEdlogo

Hi, I have seen that you are using the Cacycle editor extension. This program is no longer actively maintained in favor of its much more powerful successor wikEd.

wikEd has all the functionality of the old editor plus: • syntax highlighting • nifty image buttons • more fixing buttons • paste formatted text from Word or web pages • convert the formatted text into wikicode • adjust the font size • and much, much more.

Switching to wikEd is easy, check the detailed installation description on its project homepage. Often it is as simple as changing every occurrence of editor.js into wikEd.js on your User:YourUsername/monobook.js page.

Concordia Newsletter

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Hello again

Well, my Wikipedia life would clearly be incomplete without you on my coattails. A cross I must bear.

Do the world a favour, Jim, and get rid of Dean's trolling of me on your user page (the barnstar). The joke isn't funny any more. Actually, it never was.

Cheers ➔ This is REDVEЯS 20:21, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

"[A]ll the code coming up" is a Good Thing, compared to using unsubst'd templates, so please use subst:. Your signature should be set up in your preferences - don't use a manual one. And simplify. There's been something of a campaign in the last few months to ensure that signatures take up much less space (and therefore bytes and bandwidth). ➔ This is REDVEЯS 20:38, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Happy Birthday
