Autobiography - a bad idea

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but it appears you have written or added to an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:58, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As for the reasons, it was discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Humphrey (drummer) and it seems that the subject had not received 1. significant coverage 2. in reliable sources 3. that are independent of the subject. Granted, I relied on Google which usually only find online sources, but it has digitized print sources (such as old Billboard magazines and other music publications and books), but there may be sources that you know that discuss the subject in significant coverage that are considered both reliable and are independent of the subject. If you have that sort of content, we'd be happy to look at them and help establish an article. I write "we" not in a royal sense, but there were multiple editors involved in the discussion and so it would be a community decision to recreate or not. To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.
