[edit]Tom Nunan is mentioned in several other wikipedia pages. How do I find those mentions and how do I add links to those pages within wikipedia to my article?
- You can find him by using the Search Box at the top right of the page. Type in his name and select the bottom option 'pages containing Tom Nunan'. The results are like a google search and you can select pages that seem most relevant. Also, you can find out all of the pages that link to Tom Nunan (and they would also mention him, perhaps even more prominently). That link is Special:WhatLinksHere/Tom_Nunan , but you can also access it through the What-Links-Here option in the Toolbox menu on the left side of the screen.
Is it ok for me to ask you these questions directly? I am trying to learn the wiki tools but they are so different than what I am used to. I can do research, I am a journalist by trade, but preparing the article to wikipedia standards is proving tricky. If you could even just provide me with a link to the specific instructions to do these things that would help.
- You can ask me the questions directly, yes. But talk pages are more like email than IRC chat, which is, well, instant messaging. So it's up to your timeframe. I'm really not the only knowledgeable or helpful person. Everyone who survives here has to learn all of this junk and is almost always happy to share it.
- One tip. Sign your posts with four of these ~, like ~~~~ . That will leave your name and and the time/date of your message. You seem like a patient, self-educating guy, so I'm going to highly recommend you skip our on-site help documentation and read The Missing Manual, which is a proper instructional book that's quite nicely written, and professionally published, and free for browsing or download. Or, if you're in a bit more of a rush, you can check out WP:SIMPLE, which is a good place to start.
