User talk:Jeremylack
Welcome
[edit]Hello, Jeremylack, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MarB4 •ɯɒɹ• 22:25, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

- Your recent article did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts or show that he meets the notability guidelines.
- It was tagged by a previous editor for its use of "peacock" terms; it was a eulogy, not a neutral encyclopaedia article, and full of unreferenced claims. Examples of inappropriate language include worked tirelessly... his expertise... He took a great interest in advancing... and a number of claims, such as his role in rescuing Jews, particularly need proper references.
- It is not objective, and potentially libellous. after expressing unease at the use of the organization’s funds by the organization’s then-acting CEO... querying personal transactions by WJC boss... reminded the UN of its charter whenever it ignored oppression around the world... to excoriate Israel for every slip from the highest standard
- The article lacks any wikilinks to other articles, and appears to have been cut-and-pasted from an unknown and possibly copyright source — I didn't check for this, since the article had other problems, but we can't accdept copyright material.
You can recreate the article at any time, but you need to address the problems of referencing and objectivity if it is to survive. You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about your father. If, after reading the information above, you feel that it may be difficult for you to create a neutral article, you can post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. Hope this helps Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:51, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- Some additional advice:
- What distinguishes Wikipedia from sites like Myspace is that it is an encyclopedia. It only achieves that by observing a long list of things that Wikipedia is not, see particularly WP:NOTWEBHOST #4.
- One reason why editing with a conflict of interest is discouraged is that it is hard for an author who is close to his subject to write from the WP:Neutral point of view that Wikipedia requires. An encyclopedia article should not contain opinions or "puffery" (unsupported adjectives of praise); only neutrally-stated facts, cited to reliable published sources. Wikipedia:Verifiability is a fundamental policy: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source."
- A requirement for any Wikipedia article is to establish notability of its subject, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing references to significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources.
- If you want to proceed, in view of your COI, what you should do is, make a draft in your user space - see Help:Userspace draft for how to do that. Read WP:Your first article for general advice. When it is ready, propose it at WP:Articles for creation, where either it will be accepted or you will be given more feedback.
