USRD Inactivity check and news report

[edit]

Hello, Jeff02. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:

  1. Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
  2. There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 23:22, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bot check

[edit]

Have we done something to upset our bot? It hasn't done an update since October 14, 2007. Marylandstater 13:02, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, in your opinion, how many of the people on the participants lists are currently editing, or what percentage of those on the list are inactive as related to the Maryland Project? Marylandstater 13:05, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Still no bot update. I would love to see what impact my assessments and additions have had on the overall numbers. 67knight 19:57, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Notice to all members of WikiProject Maryland

[edit]

I'd recommend keeping people on the list and creating two sections named "Active" and "Inactive" rather than just removing people. My 2c. --Tom (talk - email) 13:47, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MDSH WP template

[edit]

These templates are being deprecated to simplify the coding. Please do not revert my changes to carry this out. --Rschen7754 (T C) 02:28, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When a parameter needs to be added to the main template, it makes it easier for us to add it to all of them. Furthermore, it helps us when we are assessing articles to not have to remember what the special template name for each SH WP is. --Rschen7754 (T C) 02:42, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your essay

[edit]

While you are perfectly within your rights to post that, I wish you wouldn't, as it is a distortion of the truth.

  • You leave out the point that all SH WP participants are more than welcome to participate in all USRD discussions. However, you yourself have not bothered to do so, which would indicate why you are surprised at consensus discussions from USRD.
  • USRD has not been used to bully NE2.
  • You fail to examine the reasons for a combined participants list - it makes it easier for USRD to tell who is active and who is not and to add people to the newsletter list; also, it reinforces the idea that all SH WP members are part of USRD and can contribute to discussions.
  • You say that things will be better if the subprojects can run themselves. The problem is, then we get the original WP:LASH.

You are omitting evidence that could be used to undermine your argument. --Rschen7754 (T C) 07:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manifesto

[edit]

After some thought over my wikibreak, I came up with some ideas and was wondering what you thought of them: User:Rschen7754/Manifesto. --Rschen7754 (T C) 01:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the St. Barnabas Church, Upper Marlboro, Maryland and give us an honest peer review. The page has evolved quite a bit in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor on subjects in the area like yourself, could head over and give us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Maryland some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. Several of us have worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. If you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! MD state shields

[edit]

I thought MD no longer uses specific shields on interstates per sign drawing. There may still have alot of recent shields post later than December 2004 thats because the DOT uses the prior version. Minnesota also uses neutral shields in state doc, but current desktop to me quite displays normal state shields after July 2005. Anyways, why we need to use MD state shelds in article body?--Freewayguy (Meet) 20:54, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please answer? Why it is okay to use MD specific state shield in article body but not routebox or 25x20px icons?--Freewayguy (Meet) 01:23, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Making shields myself

[edit]

I still don't know how to make sheidls myself on common, I try few times to upload Image:I-215 (NV).svg, becasue just for my own personal interest, I still couldnt do it. I wonder how is everybody able to do it. I think if you just upload this image and walk me step-by-step; I might learn how to do it.--Freewayguy (talk) 22:57, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where is inkspace website, do you mean I actually have to draw it, then what website I draw it on?--Freewayguy (talk) 01:41, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Tag for WP:Maryland

[edit]

I have recently started the article for Annie Armstrong, a life-long resident of Baltimore. I don't know if the article falls under the scope of the Maryland Wikiproject, but I'm drawing your attention to it.

I'm still having troubles with making shields

[edit]

I still don't know which link to go from that website. On that site; there is many selections, I don't know where to navigate when I want to make shields. This is the toughest thing I ever have to do, and i don't think I can ever do it. You think is that tough, or honestly isn't.--Freewayguy (talk) 01:56, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help me

[edit]

After I go to drawing pad on inkscape I don't knwo what file, to find the highway marker files. You say to make shields, we just have to change white numbers to make new ones. When I go to drawing pad, its all just making artworks, nothing like interstate signs.--Freewayguy Msg USC 23:05, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To what button on this site, I click on to find the shield making tempalte. The templates is not found on Wiki.--Freewayguy Msg USC 02:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, as you know I have a block on Commons lasting for another 6 weeks by moving Deadstar's userpage to another name of some bad name but I forgot. I still should've listen to you when you told me earlier to be civil all the time. I will like for now, write down the steps on my namespace to how do it, after my block is gone from Commons.--Freewayguy Msg USC 03:01, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If I don't have Rgeek font yet, how would i have to set it? On Wiki, or off Wiki?--Freewayguy Msg USC 03:26, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After when I click Series B-F I click which gray button-they have 3. Don't I click I agree?--Freewayguy Msg USC 03:56, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And what place is ZIP file?--Freewayguy Msg USC 03:57, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i meant after WinZip, they have option of quuit, agree, or ask for forms. Which one at that?--Freewayguy Msg USC 04:04, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If I ask you to make shield, will you make it for me. ltljltlj is only on once a while, and will take him a little long to get back to me. When I go to extract all which folder, on my house's folder or on selections. Because I try the coding from what you post on talkpage they don't work.--Freewayguy Msg USC 04:53, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for changing "Junction list" to "Major intersections". I figured while I was cleaning up some other stuff to bring it up to standards, I'd take care of that too, not realizing that MDRD had slightly different standards. I certainly don't have a strong preference for what the header should be. -- Kéiryn (talk) 18:02, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

big text-neutral shields

[edit]

WA to OR seems to use fat white text neutral shields like . i hope you have no problem with uploading those i ask, and hope you have no problem uplaoding random state-name specific just as long as I don't randomly use it on article while I won't. I've seen anony just randomly insert state-name speciic without some shields existing. So i like you to do those.--Freewayguy Msg USC 00:34, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From this site. Actually; all 50 states can have state-name specific just as long as its not use on infobox, or small icons. History is fine. Some state-name specific i just like to have them just because they look cool.--Freewayguy Msg USC 01:33, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use of New Template

[edit]

I have created a template {{WikiProject Maryland/flag/animated}} using a commons image that could be used on the front page of the Maryland project. As you can see, I have configured it to fly behind the wiki-puzzle-world logo in the upper left portion of the screen. I will leave it there for a couple of days and invite your comments as to whether we should use it on our front page, or not.--«Marylandstater» «reply» 16:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Future or Former Missouri shields

[edit]

Missouri interstate sign drawing found on this state documnet (page 12) shows how Missouri interstate looks like. I will like you to uplaod these shields. --Freewayguy Call? Fish 21:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing Kansas interstates

[edit]
  • I thgouht Kansas don't actually have access to state document. Sometimes the KTA displays neutral shields because KDOT do not have access to state document How you know Kansas interstaets looks like the one you and Engleman make. Just because state do not have access to state document does this mean the state document do not exist? I porbably misunderstood it. Becasue for other states exception of Texas, the state-name looks like those Ltljltlj makes.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 02:53, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hm; Arizona and West Virginia all use larger numbers, and use the way Ltljltlj makes shields. I'm not certain about Kansas because for interstaes we have no access to state document. Alot of the interstates looks like the way you or Engleman makes, some of Kansas interstate shields missing the state name. Most other states besides Texas without state document uses the way Ltljltlj makes shields.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 03:05, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The FHDOT use this At this case the text is larger, and looks like the way Ltljltlj makes it.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 03:13, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, alot of interstates on Kansas' shield some looks like Oklahoma and some looks lot like California. Maybe I actually got it on backward, maybe is clsoer to todays, same as Texas, thats what Scott said eariler. Still with this; the way Ltljltlj makes it seems clsoer to MUTCD today.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 04:20, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New York Interstates

[edit]

Our normal name is I-00 (ST).svg; so I think we should switch all the Image:Interstate 87 (New York).svg to Image:I-87 (NYST).svg, because I-00 (NY).svg have exist as oval neutral shields.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 23:36, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

*Image:I-87 (NYST).svg (upload it from Image:Interstate 87 (New York).svg)

    • I'm also not the person who made those NY interstates and I'm not the person who ask on task force. This was uplaod a long time ago by person who think it looks cool. NY most often use neutral shields, (interstate-guide map shade in black with list on bottom). i cannot ban those shields, since commons is mostly like a artwork. But i like to switch it to i-00 (ST).svg because this is the way I like to type. Also, I'll try to ask less than 20 shields at a time-this is what ltljltlj likes me to do.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 23:45, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copy images

[edit]

If I want to copy images what I do on upload? Because County Lemonade have copy images in the past. Do I have to insert inkscape stuff to just copy images to duplicate the files?--Freewayguy Call? Fish 18:34, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I still don't know how to copy images, and most of the time, moving image don't even get process until at least 2 month. ommon stuff is alot slower then here. I don't honestly want to wait that long so I'll like to learn to duplicate myself, or I will like to have you copy it. honestly I don't know ANYTHING to play or work with image. Mont of time I try to upload image I always fail.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 21:54, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can you just copy those images for me?Everytime I try to upload image, even from another source like highway interchange signs, I always get an upload error, and they won't even let me uplaod anything. i honestly know nothing about license stuff.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 22:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You say in August, you will get new laptop? What part of August? middle, early?--Freewayguy Call? Fish 18:14, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Even CoutyLemonade's computer is a slow load. Ltljltlj might do wrong way if I don't clearly specify. i don't know whoelse to ask. I don't know if USR participants is willing to do it or not.--Freewayguy Call? Fish 01:19, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
