- @Bonadea - I see what you mean. I removed the quote and reworded it to put the most important information at the top, based on the Wikipedia article you suggested that I read. I'm open to any further suggestions, thank you. JD (talk) 14:26, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- @BonadeaI also added more information about him to the draft, as you made a great point! Other reviewers in the past coached me to say less, so I might be a little gun-shy about saying too much. Once it's published, hopefully it can grow organically. JD (talk) 22:27, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Links to draft articles
[edit]Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Jason Wilson. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 12:22, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Arjayay - That makes sense, thank you for catching that and letting me know what to avoid in the future. Much appreciated. JD (talk) 14:22, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
AfC notification: Draft:Jason O. Wilson (author) has a new comment
[edit]- Thank you @Johannes Maximilian! I removed the duplicate citation 👍🏽 JD (talk) 19:36, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
Other stuff exists
[edit]Yes, it is true that a majority of the article creators are white males in the US (me included), and tend to write about white males. Probably also true that to this day, majority of Reviewers are white and male. This should not mean that a draft about a person of color needs to be of higher quality to be accepted.
Separately, "other stuff exists" is an arguement that often arises when a draft is Declined at AfC or an article has bee nominated at Articles for Deletion (AfD). In reality there are tens of thousands of crap articles. Some were created years ago, when standards were lower. Others exist because the creator bypassed AfC, and then the New Pages Patroll (WP:NPP) missed seeing the weaknesses. Pointing at weak articles is never accepted as an arguement that a new draft should be approved.
P.S. If you are puzzled why a reviewer declined a draft, you can ask on their talk page. David notMD (talk) 03:13, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- I took the liberty of identifying him as a life coach in the lede. I suggest that be his identifying characteristic in the title rather than author or trainer. I also created an Awards section, as that is common for biographical articles. You can undo my changes if you think they are of no help. David notMD (talk) 12:35, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, yes. The label of life coach makes it easier since a common denominator is mentoring. THANK YOU so much. I love the new headings, and I will re-read the citations and fill in the article with more significant facts if I can. I'll work on it more later this weekend. JD (talk) 22:13, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you also for giving me the steps on how to change a title! Originally I put "author," then asked a Reviewer if it could be "martial arts," but "life coach" definitely seems to fit best in this scenario. I also noticed the program is for boys but the books are for grown (adult) men, and he's "life coaching" both groups 👍🏽
- This definition definitely fits: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/life%20coach
- Merriam-Webster: "an advisor who helps people make decisions, set and reach goals, or deal with problems." JD (talk) 04:04, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Greetings @David notMD, I truly appreciate this dialogue. I will be back over the weekend to reply & hopefully work on the article. My home is having family night right now, but I wanted to acknowledge your response! It means a lot. Take care. JD (talk) 22:02, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- On my side of "persist" I have been raising all of the vitamin articles to Good Article status, which has taken weeks to months for each one, and for a few, more than 100 edits. Two of my GA nominations were initially rejected, so I had to fix everything the reviewers were dissatisfied with and reapply for a new review, which brought in new reviewers who each had their own dozens of fix-this comments. David notMD (talk) 13:51, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
- Changed title from author to life coach, per our earlier exchange. If you disagree, clicking on More at the top menu brings up a Move option, which is for changing titles. David notMD (talk) 03:21, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oh wow, so even experienced editors experience like yourself experience the phenomenon of having a perpetual Reviewers weighing in with their different two-cents 🙂. I appreciate you sharing your personal success story of persistence! I started the draft in May, so discouragement was definitely creeping in, along with "wondering this or that." I will keep at it! We had unexpected out of town guests this past weekend, so I'm just getting to wikipedia and reviewing the citations. Just hope I make my edits before the next Reviewer renders a decision (I already resubmitted it last week). JD (talk) 03:57, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

- Truthfully, most if not every Reviewer cited a specific reason. I just began to "wonder" if there were other unsaid reasons since there was perpetually some other new thing. And also when I would immediately correct what was pointed out, the Reviewer would go silent and I'd never hear from the person again. But reading your experience with the Vitamin articles was helpful. Can you share a link to one of the vitamin articles? I just looked up Emergen-C and see they were sued! Interesting. I take the "Plus" version and see that is not mentioned anywhere in the article. Oh wow, I had no idea it was owned by Pfizer. Even more interesting. JD (talk) 04:13, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

- Hello, I have invested so much time working on this article and have heeded so many corrections, advice & directions and now I see it's "nominated" for deletion? I've gone from inspired to publishing my first article to deflated. This article is certainly not "unambiguous advertising." All facts have been cited. Is there anyone that can coach me here? Thank you. JD (talk) 07:03, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
