Roman numerals
[edit]Hi there. Before I do anything dumb - is there a rule against using Roman numerals? Until I saw your updates on The Ghost Club I've always ASSumed that Roman numerals are the way to go when mentioning centuries (the XX century rather than the 20th century, and so on). - I have no idea if there is or isnt a rule, sorry. But I've never seem them used, and indeed for several seconds whilst reading the article I was at first confused, then I decided someone was using a place holder, then later I realised there were roman numerals. But rule or no rule, roman numerals are lot less accesible to the average Joe than normal numbers and I can't see why people would want to use them in that context Jasonfward (talk) 11:34, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

- A bit tenious, but they both have longer and richer histories, Gio Compario will be forgotten very soon after the adds are withdrawn, also Gio Compario as a character does not exist, i.e. in the ads he's just a operatic singing fat man, Monkey and Alexander have recognisable personalities, and Alexander in particular has appeared many times outside of his central advertising role. On ACS:Law
[edit]In ACS:Law you're trying to combine information from two separate sources: first, TorrentFreak article about Davenport, and second - information that ACS has acquired business from Davenport (which information is BTW itself contested at least by Davenport). This combining of information from different sources to advance a new point is the very definition of WP:SYN (close cousin of WP:OR) and is therefore prohibited. Honestly, I don't see how this claim can stay in the article (while it might be true, criteria for inclusion is not truth, but verifiability, which implies WP:NOR and WP:SYN). Hello. I have noticed this edit which you made to the article above. Firstly, the material that you removed was referenced to a book by O Hood Phillips, so I cannot understand why you are claiming that it needs to be referenced. Secondly, it is clearly not pointless at the moment. Thirdly, if it does require further explanation (which I doubt and which is in any event included in the article Defendant to which there was a link), that is not a valid reason to delete anything. There was nothing random about that passage. The fact that a person prosecuted for misdemeanour was called a "defendant" (and not a "prisoner", "defender", "respondent" or other like expression) is not obvious.
As for referencing, an Act of Parliament can be cited by its short title. The expressions "the Criminal Law Act 1967" and "the Criminal Law Act (Northern Ireland) 1967" are not, as far as I am aware, ambiguous. Even if, for the sake of argument, there was another Act called "the Criminal Law Act 1967" in another country, the heading "England and Wales" and the link to the article on that Act would still provide sufficient context to identify the Act to which reference is being made. - Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?

In response to your statement "Me"
[edit]However, having been involved in the Landmark page, off and on, I have noticed that there have been some editors with what seems to be a clear and apparent POV, if not conflict of interest as per WP:COI, regarding this topic. The links indicate what seems to me to be evidence of some such problems with your own editing of this topic. And, yes, I do think that your own recent edits have been, well, dubious?, shall we say. I will remove the FB links, but believe that should what I perceive to be potentially problematic editing persist, I may well have to raise these issues on one of the administrator noticeboards for additional comments and any action which others might find to be appropriate. - What you think is just your own opinion, of course, although your pages, which honestly any admins on the noticeboards could find just as easily as I might, would indicate possibly a very serious POV problem as per WP:POV. Editors with serious POV problems are among our most disruptive editors around here, unfortunately, and they tend to be among those who tend to most often appear before ArbCom or at ANI. In all honesty, I find many of your own comments to date more than a bit ridiculous, and as I and others have indicated WP:CONSENSUS determines what happens here, not the opinions of individuals with clear POV biases. Please read the pages I have linked to, and perhaps the archives of the article itself, where I believe this discussion may well already have taken place repeatedly. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve.
