Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. An article you recently created, "Training Needs Analysis", has been tagged for speedy deletion because its content is clearly written to promote a company, product, or service. This article may have been deleted by the time you see this message. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertising service. Thank you. MER-C 09:06, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
http://www.enquirewithin.co.nz external links
[edit]Hi Jason, It's come to my attention that all your edits appear to be to promote the enquirewithin.co.nz site. Please take a look at our conflict of interest and external links guidelines. The promotion of a particular website can be considered spamming and is against our guidelines and policies. I hope this doesn't put you off editing. We always need good editors! Please take a look at our welcome page to see how you can contribute effectively to Wikipedia. Thanks -- Siobhan Hansa 18:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I am sorry that you appear to consider my links to be promotion of the Enquire Within web site.
The site is primarily about Repertory Grid and its many applications (including Training Needs Analysis) I have developed the site at considerable expense to promote Repertory Grid (not the web site as such) which I believe to be an important process as yet under utilised in business and which can make a difference in the world. There are many experienced practitioners out there but the technique is still, in my opinion, seriously underutilised.
Although the site also promotes Enquire Within, which is software to implement grid, this has never been and never will be a profitable commercial operation and is not the primary purpose. Sales of Enquire Within support the web site but at a loss.
What I am attempting to do is increase the knowledge of what grid can do. Most applications can be carried out without use of software. A close perusal of the Enquire Within site will show that the great majority of pages are about the technique (ie Goerge kelly's Theory of Personal Constructs and the several Business Applications pages) rather than the software.
In future I am prepared to contribute actual material rather than just links in order to increase the knowledge of the technique in various applications. I guess what I have been doing by referring to the web site is to attempt to use existing written material. Preparation of material to edit Wikipedia pages will be much more time consuming but I am prepared to attempt that even if it means that my contribution rate will be much diminished.
I would be interested in comment.
John
- Hi John. Thanks for responding. It would be great if you would contribute your expertise to add content to the articles. That's what we really want from editors and your expertise will be a great boon to Wikipedia. If your intent is to educate people about Repertroy Grid, you may be encouraged to know that many more people will read your words if they are in an actual Wikipedia article than if they have to click on a link to get to your site. Making Wikipedia's content better will touch a lot of people's lives, in part because so many other websites use Wikipedia content verbatim on their sites, but rarely take the external links.
- I'm sorry if the "spam" accusation seemed harsh. Our definition of spamming doesn't make a distinction between people trying to make a profit or not - and many of those who fall foul of the guideline are altruistic in their intent and not simply trying to make money. The guideline is there in part to help us build the encyclopedia rather than becoming a portal. I'll add a standard welcome template after this - there are several links and bits of advice in that you might find useful. Thanks - and happy editing! -- Siobhan Hansa 15:26, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

inquirewithin.biz spam (woodworking tools)
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.Andy Dingley (talk) 08:34, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
At first I was inclined to see this as an WP:EL that didn't meet our strict policy (all content in that link should already be in a reasonable quality wiki article), but was acceptable as our existing in-house articles were so incomplete. However a brief look at your recent contribs, the number of articles to which you spammed it, the careless way in which you happily added this link right next to an existing copy of the same link, and your past history of adding this same link, all made me consider that this was just too much like spam and not enough like a serious effort. License tagging for File:Jakku Temple Simla.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Jakku Temple Simla.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image.
