Norfolk City Police Department (Virginia)
[edit]I suggest moving this page to Norfolk Police Department, as that name is sufficient. I thought I'd see your thoughts before I did it. CTJF83 chat 22:26, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- I went ahead and moved it, any concerns feel free to talk to me. CTJF83 chat 23:14, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I agree that Norfolk versus Norfolk City is a better name. Could I ask how you changed the title name? User:Jar789
- There should be a down arrow next to history at the top. If you hoover over/click it, there should be a move option. CTJF83 chat 02:56, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office (Virginia)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office (Virginia) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - A great deal of this article appears to be copied directly from the web site of the department. This is not an acceptable way to create a Wikipedia articel. I am trying to rewrite it, but in future please do not copy test directly from web sites except for direct quotes that are maked as such and are attributed to the person or entity being quoted. List of American Actors
[edit]Your contributed article, List of American film actors
[edit]Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, List of American film actors. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Category:American film actors. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Category:American film actors - you might like to discuss new information at [[Talk:Category:American film actors|the article's talk page]].
If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Pstanton (talk) 23:10, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
The article J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Police Department has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Possibly fails WP:N. Is apparently a private security service for a college..
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kudpung (talk) 05:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Film article edits
[edit]Unfortunately I have had to revert a couple of your edits to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (film) since you added unsourced financial data. Please refrain from adding financial data without also including a reference as per Wikipedia's policy of verifiability. If you don't wnat to me to revert further unsourced additions please go back through your edits and add sources.
I have also reverted your edits to The Miracle Man (1919 film) and Mickey (1918 film), since you made alterations to data that made it contradict the accompany sources. Please don not change content so it no longer matches the source. All further contradictory claims will have to be reverted. If you have reliable sources for alternative claims, then by all means add them, but please don't alter the sourced information that is already there. Betty Logan (talk) 01:48, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
Ambassador articles
[edit]I see that you do a lot of work on the U.S. Ambassador pages as I do. I am thinking that perhaps we should combine all of the articles for the seven countries under United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. It seems awfully redundant to have several articles that contain essentially the same information. We could create redirects for the seven countries. We would need some discussion in the lead because the ambassadorial posts started at different times. Any thoughts about that? •••Life of Riley (T–C) 23:47, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- I think that is a good idea, but I think we should still have the individual pages since their history differs. But the main page will work fine. The way it is here: United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean is perfect in my opinion. Jar789 (T-C) 23:58, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- How about this: We keep each individual page for its history, but then instead of having a list of ambassadors on each page, have a statement: For list of ambassadors, see United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean? •••Life of Riley (T–C) 00:08, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- But there's a problem, not each country matches ambassador wise, since they weren't combined at the same time. So I don't know how we could work this out any other way than to leave it like that. Unless you have another suggestion? Jar789 (T-C) 00:15, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- I have not attempted to correlate all of the countries, so I didn't realize that they did not all match. If it is only a matter of the first chargé, that could be easily noted. But I will take another look at all of the countries and see where there are differences and how we could get around it. I will get back to you on this. •••Life of Riley (T–C) 00:23, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Research Advice re General People's Committee Article
[edit]Dear Jar789,
I am writing a research paper on the history of Libyan political personnel and came across a wiki article you contributed to, which I translated from Arabic to English using google. The Article is entitled “General People’s Committee”, which you can access as follows: http://ar.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/اللجنة_الشعبية_العامة
This article is exactly what I’m looking for, but there is a historical hole from 1990 – 2006. Do you have any idea why these dates are missing from the article? Do you have any information on this topic pertaining to 1990 – 2006 or know of any other sources I can consult to find the missing information? I have to submit my paper to my professor by Monday morning, so if you could prove any help at all, I would truly appreciate it! Please feel free to contact me directly via e-mail at agreen789@yahoo.com. Thank you in advance for your time and hope to hear from you soon!

Coordinator sought for the US National Archives WikiProject
[edit]Greetings, WikiProject US National Archives member!
We are seeking a coordinator to help reboot the project and work on new initiatives! The role is modeled after other Wikiproject coordinators, like the WikiProject Military History coordinators. The coordinator will work with the Wikipedian in Residence to organize and increase participation in the WikiProject, with the goal that the WikiProject is an active space for collaboration maintained by and for the Wikipedia editors, rather than the National Archives.
Please see the full information at Wikipedia:GLAM/NARA/Coordinator and contact me is you have any questions. Feel free to pass this note along to any interested parties. Thanks! Dominic·t 21:04, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
