Dear Jordan, Love your courthouse pic and wanted to see if you had a higher res version for a nonprofit website. First time on Wikipedia, apologies if I am using this page wrong. (Jpschroeder (talk) 02:30, 26 September 2014 (UTC)).[reply]

Hey, I'm working on a new userbox for theatre techs. I'll let you know when I finish it. By the way, thanks for getting a picture of barn doors. KeepOnTruckin 01:03, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I think I have it, see my talk page for new code. Picture is cropped a bit better. I hope I didn't force you to put the box on...just if you were interested. And then a whole announcement on your page...I don't get a a lot of recognition as a tech or anything else. KeepOnTruckin 21:31, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to see you joined the wikiproject: staegcraft. And thanks for making the artical on the Source 4 PAR. I was calling it the S4 PARnel, is that correct?KeepOnTruckin 01:10, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your input would be appreciated at the AFDs for the ND-related Grand Cities Mall and Hawktree Golf Club. The Grand Cities Mall article is especially important at this time. --AlexWCovington (talk) 19:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ahhh! feel the smile...

Hey! Um I'm a welcomer (Not officialy. But, there probably is'nt a list of official welcomers...) anyway if you would like me to welcome you I will but that would make your userpage a subbier stub. (You would have to take away the part about not being welcomed.) Unless that is you were to rant about how happy you were that you got welcomed. Sorry about that. That paragragh that could have been a simple little sentence like:

Hi I can welcome if you want.DPM

That would be it and I would be done likety split. Oh... Sorry... I did It again. (that makes me think of a very bad song)Oh well. YOU GET IT. DPM 00:33, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concordia Newsletter

[edit]

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

[edit]
  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

[edit]

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

I just self-nominated myself for administrator's status on Wikipedia. As an active member of WikiProject North Dakota, I feel that having admin status would allow me the ability to be more useful to the project and to curtail vandalism and other problems. An admin is able to protect pages that are being bombarded with vandalism and to more quickly revert pages that have been vandalized. I've always hoped that we could get an admin to join the WikiProject so we would have someone to turn to in times of need. Since we still don't have an active admin within the project's membership, I decided to nominate myself. I really hope you will visit my request for adminship and support me. Thanks! --MatthewUND(talk) 10:48, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Red Pepper

[edit]

Jordan, I really don't think we can call the Red Pepper an "attraction" for the entire state of ND. It may have a cult following in GF, but I just don't think it really qualifies as a ND attraction. Hi there. I noticed that you've removed all the links to Stagelink after an IP user updated them the other day. I'm not going to re-instate them as I know the person who runs the site, but it is a bona-fide stagecraft links site, and pretty useful. What I'm saying is, I don't think it was spam - they've just changed the syntax of their internal links and the IP user was fixing the links so they didn't 404. Bryson430 11:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I'm the webmaster and run the stagelink website. Could you give me an update on why all of the links were removed? Bryson correctly guessed that I was just updating all of the links to a new syntax but now you've gone and removed them all and I'm not quite sure why? Piersshepperd 19:29, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for resolving this. I've now set myself up as a user, to hopefully avoid this happening in the future. Piersshepperd 08:29, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Senior Senator

[edit]

Hey. I do not know you, but i see you are a member of North Dakota Wikiproject. Please, could you answer my question. I would like to point out that in 1992, Kent Conrad retired, and Byron Dorgan won. Dorgan is still in the Senate. And then Conrad ran and won a few years later. Wouldn't this make Dorgan senior senator from North Dakota??

-Assessments-
An intial round of assessments was recently done on all pages within the scope of WPND. These initial assessments...all 1,200+ of them...were done by MatthewUND. Matthew tried to generally follow the assessment guidelines found at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment.

To see the assessment of any North Dakota page, simply go to the page's talk page and check the WPND banner. The assessment is presented in a color-coded field in the WPND banner. To change an assessment, edit the page and change the word after "class=" in the WPND banner. Add one of the following codes:

Stub - for very small articles
Start - for slightly longer, higher quality articles
B - for high quality articles of an appropriate length
List - for lists
Cat - for categories
Template - for templates
NA - for pages that are not articles, templates, or categories

Any WPND member should feel free to change any page's assessment. However, keep in mind that there are assessments (particularly GA for "Good Article" or FA for "Featured Article") which can't be applied without having gone through a nomination process.

Flood image

I agree with you. The Blue Moose should be in the picture and there are rails on the bridge. Like you said, I'm sure there are other things, but I'm not familiar enough with downtown of the 1970s and 1980s to be able to pick them out. It must be from '79. ---North Dakota Portal---
Wikipedia now has a new portal devoted exclusively to the state of North Dakota. Check out Portal:North Dakota.

WPND member NDCompuGeek has constructed the initial framework for the portal and it should now be easy to update the portal on a month-by-month basis. The portal will serve as a kind of "front door" for people using Wikipedia to learn more about North Dakota. It is a great starting point for branching out into the many aspects of the state.

Each month a different article, picture, city, and biography will be showcased along with current news and happenings from around the state. The July version of the portal showcases the Mandan tribe, Governor John Hoeven, and the capital city of Bismarck.

Visit the portal's talk page to share your opinions and ideas regarding the portal.

News
---Grand Forks now a Featured Article---
Grand Forks, North Dakota was recently designated as a Featured Article. This means that the article has gone through a nomination process in which it was reviewed and its quality was assessed. The fact that this article made it through the process shows that it is a high quality, well-written, well-sourced article. Currently, there are only a little over 1,500 Featured Articles in the almost two million articles on the English language Wikipedia. That means that only about one in 1,270 articles has been given this designation.

The Grand Forks article is a great example to follow when working on other city articles, particularly those about North Dakota cities. We would be very well off if our other major city articles were similar to the Grand Forks article. Keep the Grand Forks article bookmarked and refer to its structure and style when you work on similar articles.

---New assessment parameter---
You're likely aware that all WPND articles now include a quality rating located on the article's talk page. Now, a new assessment parameter is being implemented. The importance rating aims to gauge the "importance" of the article's subject as it relates to North Dakota. As an example, Bismarck, North Dakota would not be considered as being very important in relation to the country or the world, but it is of top importance when considering just the state of North Dakota.

The importance of each article is gauged as either Top, High, Mid, or Low. Since "importance" is a rather subjective term, some WPND members are trying to come up with a general set of guidelines. Check out this thread on the WPND talk page to see proposals and to share your own opinions of what is and isn't "important" in the state.

Please help to improve and expand these articles which were recently added to the WPND project:
Cities Area Transit | Dakota Territory Air Museum | Fight On Sioux | Fort Totten State Historic Site | Grand Forks Chiefs | It's For You, North Dakota U | List of people from Grand Forks, North Dakota | Log Cabin Museum, Sheyenne, ND | McKenzie Electric Cooperative | North Dakota Democratic-Independent Party | North Dakota Railroad Commission | North Dakota State Cabinet | Old Main (Minot State University-Bottineau) | Pembina State Museum | Politics of North Dakota | Ruth Meiers Hospitality House | Spirit Lake Casino | Stand Up and Cheer (song) | Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation | UND Alma Mater

---North Dakota articles on Main Page---
This past month, two new North Dakota-related articles appeared in the Main Page's "Did you know?" section. The articles were Zip to Zap and Climate of North Dakota. Congratulations to the creators of these articles — it's always exciting to see North Dakota articles on Wikipedia's Main Page. A request has also recently been made to make Grand Forks, North Dakota a Featured Article of the day.

---Active members and inactive members---
In an effort to more accurately gauge just how large WPND is, the WPND members list has been split into an active and inactive list. If you have not made an edit to a North Dakota-related page within the last three months, you are moved to the inactive list and do not receive the WPND newsletter. If you disagree with moving members to an inactive list, please share your thoughts at the WPND talk page.

---New administrator---
WPND member MatthewUND (talk · contribs) was recently promoted to Administrator status. That means that he has been granted the use of special tools so he can take care of housekeeping tasks such as blocking disruptive users, protecting pages, deleting pages, and quickly reverting edits to pages. It has been mentioned in the past that WPND was in need of an administrator. With MatthewUND's promotion, that is now a reality. Please contact MatthewUND if you are ever in need of an administrator's help.

News
---Article deletions---
A series of deletions of North Dakota articles this past month is a good reminder that we need to be careful when creating new articles. Before creating any article, it is a good idea to 1) check out Wikipedia:Notability to see if the subject deserves an article and 2) make sure that worthwhile sources can be found pertaining to the subject and are effectively used to cite the article. Often, instead of simply creating a brand new stub article for a subject, it is a good idea to expand an existing article that in some way can address the subject.

---Peer reviews---
The University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University articles are currently up for peer review. Please take a moment to visit UND's peer review and NDSU's peer review. Read through the articles and then share your opinions of where the articles currently stand and how they might be improved. Peer review is often a step in the process of getting articles to Good Article or Featured Article status. As a WikiProject, we are very much in need of more GA or FA class articles.

Housekeeping
---Mandan demoted---
After a review, the Mandan tribe article is no longer considered Featured Article class. This is a reminder that even after articles have made it all the way to FA class, it is always possible for them to lose that designation. This also means that WPND is down to one FA class article.

---UND article upgraded---
The University of North Dakota article was recently upgraded to "good article" status. This brings WPND up to two good articles and one featured article. We should work on bringing other North Dakota articles up to a higher status. Look in Category:Top-importance North Dakota articles for articles to work on improving. It would be great to get the main North Dakota article to GA or FA class in the near future. There are also a number of other articles which are close to GA status already...a little work will make them ready for that designation.

---Assessing article importance---
Work continues on assessing the "importance" of all articles that fall under the banner of WPND. Currently, around a third of all articles have been rated for importance.

Basis in policy

[edit]

Hi, I'm wondering if you would demonstrate the basis in Wikipedia policy for your request on the will o' the wisp / ghost light merger talk page. Thanks, Antelan talk 01:00, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why you were there

[edit]

A comment by an anonymous IP who clearly knows Perfectblue apparently triggered Perfectblue to oppose the merger with a rather specious argument. I can produce the diff if you're interested, but it's not a particularly big deal. However, it left me in a suspicious state of mind. Questioning you on why you showed up to comment on the talk page was hasty of me. Please accept my apologies. Antelan talk 21:00, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries

[edit]

You may not be aware of this, but there is quite a long history regarding myself, Perfectblue, and Martinphi. Consensus can be abused, and these two are notorious for doing so. I appreciate your gesture of good faith, but you might want to be careful about how you characterize the actions of others with regards to this sticky thing called "consensus". Re.:Will-o'-the-wisp vs Ghostlight: Merger Damages Wikipedia's Reputation

[edit]

Ghostlight is merged with the former. The intro of the former will cause readers to assume that a ghostlight is seen in swampy areas, when in fact some are seen in the driest of places, such as Marfa, Texas and Iran. This merge will further damage Wikipedia's reputation, since it implies that Wikipedia cannot tell a swampy area from a desert area. I am close to the locations of at least four of these, and NOT ONE is in a SWAMPY area at all. 65.163.115.114 (talk) 17:37, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

---A new "Good Article"---
WPND now has another new good article: 1997 Red River Flood in the United States. This article was recently split off from the 1997 Red River flood article. Much of the credit for this article's promotion should go to Nehrams2020 (talk · contribs).

---Let's improve our main article---
For a WikiProject whose focus is the state of North Dakota, there is likely no article that should be more important to us than the North Dakota article itself. We should work on improving this article to at the very least good article status and ideally featured article status.

---UND on the Main Page?---
The University of North Dakota article is currently listed as a good article. Given UND's 125th anniversary ([1]), perhaps we should think about improving this article to featured status so it could potentially be the article of the day in February when the event is officially observed.

WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter

[edit]
The WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter (October 2010)
The WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter!
Issue 1 - July, 2010

Hello and welcome to this, the first ever edition of the WikiProject Stagecraft Newsletter! If you haven't been over to the WikiProject page lately then you're missing out - the whole thing has undergone a complete makeover - see below for more info!
On top of this, we have brand spanking new templates (such as this one) and a completely revamped Collaboration of the Month - again, see below for more info on all of this.
Finally, a warning - the new-look WikiProject is still having the finishing touches put on it. If you find something that doesn't work, you don't agree with or is just plain missing, please don't hesitate to let us know on the WikiProject's talk page. We'll try our very best to fix ASAP!

New Look

As mentioned above, the WikiProject has recently undergone a spring-clean and we're excited about it! If you don't mind - we'd like to take this opportunity to explain some of the features and generally show off about it a little.

  • Colour scheme All pages on the WikiProject now use two consistent shades of blue as part of the new streamlined interface (Those techies amongst us may wish to know that the precise names of the colours we use are: "lightblue" for headings and "#c0e0e0" for backgrounds).
  • Navigation Menu Every page on the WikiProject now has the official WikiProject navigation menu so you can easily flick between pages and get back to the main project page. Say goodbye to clicking the back button several times!
  • To Do list/Open Tasks If you're stuck on what to do to help us then a list of the most important tasks is now available on the main page. At the moment, the list is looking a little short so if you have found something that you think ought to be added, then feel free to edit the list and let us know. Please refrain from linking to a specific article that generally needs an overall update. Single articles like this should be nominated for a future Collaboration of The Month - see below.
Templates

All of the project's templates are now arranged in one handy page. Whilst we were going through we also noticed one was missing. We have now added the new template in the form of:

  • {{WPStagecraft Newsletter}} - the template containing the latest edition of the WikiProject Newsletter (you're looking at it now!)
Collaboration of the Month

Ok, so this isn't exactly a new feature. It's always been there but has never really been updated on a, ahem, monthly basis. The Collaboration of the Month (COTM) is now in template form to enable it to be streamlined across the Project, without having to be manually updated on each page. Don't worry if we've lost you at this point - the point is, it works! You can now nominate an article for COTM on the COTM page. The more sharp-eyed amongst you may well have noticed that the COTM at the moment is still that old fella, Stage lighting. That's because no-one has nominated a COTM for this month (being a new feature an' all...) so we've decided to leave it as it is for this month until a new one has been democratically voted for.

And finally...

Thanks very much for reading down this far - hopefully future newsletters won't be this long! Please, if you can, invite new members and drop us a line over at the talk page to let us know what you think of the new look/newsletter and any suggestions you may have.

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. If (like most of the old WikiProject) this information is out of date and you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the Participants list and also click here to stop receiving the newsletter.

Old Main - fourth oldest

[edit]

I challenged a part of your recent edit to the Concordia College article. See this entry. I'm not sure it's the fourth oldest building - it very well could be, but I have enough doubts that I've placed a citation needed tag. The burden now is on you to support that with a source, otherwise I'll probably remove it in a few days. Best. NTox · talk 01:16, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:BeamProjector.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:BeamProjector.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mattbr 11:02, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
