Cutting down the Hugo Chavez article's size

[edit]

OK. I agree. You guys are absolutely correct, and I put back the verylong boilerplate. Feel free to remove any content you need to from the Hugo Chavez article. I just ask that the content that you remove goes somewhere — into a daughter article (a daughter article is , as you said, just a linked article), a new article, etc. Please don't just delete content without first putting a copy of it in some other article. If you do the deletions, I'll back you guys up in case you are accused of vandalism or are reverted. Have fun. Regards, Saravask 15:44, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Saludos.--K4zem 13:14, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I've been saying that was crap from day one. - Jmabel | Talk 22:55, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. You can help a lot too. Read the WP:BLP policy, unsourced negative statements about living persons must always be removed inmediatly and without hesitation JRSP 23:03, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. That policy is rather new (and very welcome). It wasn't yet in effect at the time I was disputing the reference. And even now, matters could be unclear if someone came forward and tried to argue that the trashy reference was valid. - Jmabel | Talk

Venezuelan-Israeli relations

[edit]

If possible, I would like to keep this article from being merged by reaching a compromise. Is there a particular reason you would like to see it merged with the foreign policy pages? If you look at my talkpage, Sandy has posted several links with info to be added to the page, which I will try to add later today. Respectfully, Republitarian 14:56, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think that having an article specially devoted to the Venezuelan-Israeli relations is an exageration. Israel is not an important priority for the Venezuela foreign policy. There is a lot of media attention these days but in the long run it is not an important issue. From the Venezuelan point of view there are more important countries such as Colombia. I guess that from the Israeli point of view Venezuela is not very important either. Unfortunately some enemies of the Venezuelan process love these kind of media scandals and don't seem to realize that Venezuelan voters don't decide what they think or who they will vote by reading the wikipedia. They think they can harm Hugo Chávez with this but in fact they only harm the WP by filling it with unimportant information JRSP 23:25, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
seem to realize that Venezuelan voters don't decide what they think or who they will vote by reading the wikipedia. I'm having a hard time following this seemingly bizarre tangent about Venezuelan voters. I've seen no reliable source or account or even any individuals expressing the belief that there is any chance that Chávez will not win the December elections, and many agree that he will likely be "president for life". Why would anyone be editing Wikipedia with the idea of influencing Venezuelan voters, when the elections are virtually a done deal? Sandy 19:47, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

United States-Venezuela relations

[edit]

You may be interested in United States-Venezuela relations. It's in a very poor and largely neglected state. Thanks for helping with Venezuelan-Israeli relations. I hope we can work together in the future - and I hope you will change your mind on merging the article. Respectfully, Republitarian 14:33, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Venezuelan Economy

[edit]

It is actually booming right now, and some models place continued similar growth for a few more years (we could double GDP by 2010 but granted it would be including the rebound. That said lets hope that imports do not continue to skyrocket as well, at least luxury imports most of it is machinery and other goods.Flanker 17:48, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Informal Sector

[edit]

I know it also includes maids, etc. Basically all employment that is denied social benefits of employment, Just removed the iirrational accusation that it just recently included in employment when it always has been, it is so irrational that if it were removed then unemployment before Chavez was 66% because the informal sector was half. I was disappointed on that hack piece it took all critiscism at face value without doing the slightest research Flanker 23:14, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some of them actually make good money. For instance, a co-operative of 5 car repairpersons JRSP 23:20, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sumate

[edit]

I notuiced your comment on the Sumate talk page:

  • I also think the article may lead readers into thinking that Súmate is an opposition group and not an impartial NGO JRSP 21:32, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm baffled! How can an organisation that organised a recall election and then organised a primary to select an opposition candidate possibly be called an impartial NGO? AndrewRT - Talk 20:52, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

[edit]

[edit]

I loaded it once before, and it really slowed down my English typing. I also could get it through Characters, but forgot to come back to it. I'm not on the laptop that often, so I won't worry about it, but I do appreciate the offer to help! I see you're now an official vandal fighter ... It would be cool if you'd add Tourette syndrome to your watchlist, since it gets hit often with coprolalia jokes, and I need all the eyes watching it I can get :-) Sandy 13:05, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tannim

[edit]

I tried to discuss WP guidelines to Tannim, and (s)he asked about citing television shows. If you can manage the act of WP:FAITH, please leave a brief message at User talk:Tannim. I would much rather discuss the appropriateness of whatever quote (s)he finds than constantly revert and re-revert. Thanks. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them on my talk page. Chavez talk

[edit]

You wrote:

CRGreathouse, you will have trouble finding information about Chávez and North Korea for the most simple of reasons: Venezuela does not even have a diplomatic delegation there [6]. Venezuela has good relations with Cuba and Iran but has very little to do with North Korea JRSP 21:13, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, that's my understanding. I'm just driving home the point that Tannim needs a source for the information—and lacking that, shouldn't add to the article. We're trying to do the same thing, albeit in different ways.

Chavez's relations with Cuba are understandable and don't really isolate Venesuela in any way. (The US doesn't like Cuba. That of itself is hardly noteworthy in this article, being so many steps removed from Chavez himself.) North Korea is a different story entirely: nations doing much of anything with the DPRK are almost surely out of step with the rest of the world. But I would like to think that I would know about any North Korea–Venesuela relations. Certainly I know more about North Korea than Venesuela. CRGreathouse (t | c) 13:48, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm amused to see that my above paragraph is an echo of Zleitzen's post in the Chavez talk. I didn't read it until after I wrote the above. Our points are essentially the same: "rogue nation" is a tricky label, but it doesn't seem appropriate (here at least) for Cuba. I think it is quite appropriate for North Korea, but since we seem to agree that there's no evidence that NKorea and Venesuela have particularly warm ties that's a non-issue. Policia Sucre, Metropolitana Policia, Mercal, photos...

[edit]

It is clear you are exhaustive in defending the Chavez government. My knowledge of Spanish is limited. However, I have re-read and translated the many articles and only a very dense person would ignore the jarring photographs of this shooting, and the numerous reports indicating participation by the government-controlled policia metropolitana, policia sucre, the government food chain mercal--all of whom have identifiable persons, and view this as anything but a government-sponsored shooting. the Chavez prosercutors freed these guys for chrissake's! And they were on TV! Julie411 21:54, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Halvorssen entry

[edit]

JSRP, you speak Spanish. The men caught on camera shooting Maritza Ron are free. This entry is becoming silly in that it has so many references to meet your standards. The many sources contain all of the information that needs to be verified. It may not be immediately following every claim but it is all there. For instance you wrote that Sucre Mayor Jose Vicente Rangel (calling him the Vice President's son is needed inasmuch as they have the same name) info needs to be verified. It's there. see [2] and [3]. It has always been there. Your constant toying with this (which I am happy to respond to given the amount of time I have devoted to this entry) is a form of vandalism. Would that someone applied these standards to you...it would make editing impossible and wikipedia unworkable. Julie411 18:24, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabetical Order

[edit]

Don't use alphabetical order as an excuse to put chavez first everywhere you see it. I have balanced it having them swithc on and off. Every article that has been on the main starting page in the past three days have stuff not in alphbetical order, obviosly your trying to slant it a certain way. When Chavez loses I wonder how well cited all his articles will be after the election???? --The 13th 4postle 04:08, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't often agree with JRSP, but he is right on this one. There are two ways we can choose how to list candidates: alphabetically, or by incumbency first - either way, Chavez ends up first. I don't think it a matter much worth worrying about. SandyG 02:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced removal

[edit]

Hello JRSP, this is Pernambuco. I was the person who added the unsourced human rights stuff which you just removed. I can not remember anymore where it was that I read it, so I agree with your removal. If anyone challenges you on the removal, please have them ask me or tell them that I agree so that they know that I support you on this. I would like to hear from you and maybe we can work together on something. - Pernambuco 03:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is great!! I was meaning: On the same articles. I am from Brazil, in the north east, it is a state close to Venezuela. "Nuestro norte es el sur" and "nosso norte e o sul". - Pernambuco 04:03, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sourced restoration

[edit]

I found the data and placed it in the bio. It is highly damning criticism, especially given the timing and seriousness of the accusation by no less an institution than the OAS. It stays. Verdadseadicha 05:29, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not recall that this was OAS. I remember that it was from a human rights group, but I don't think that it needs to be included, it can be removed. Can I revert myself? Is that OK? - Pernambuco 16:06, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Benjamin Rausseo

Just because he is hardly mentioned in the article doesn't mean he wasn't a main candidate. That is a logical fallacy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by The 13th 4postle (talkcontribs) 21:56, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Condoleeza Rice

[edit]

Please see the Condoleeza Rice page and check the Venezuela section for accuracy and/or misuse of sources. There is a tendency for that page to present issues surrounding foreign nations in the voice of Rice rather than in a universal NPOV manner, and it needs regular checks.--Zleitzen 11:12, 28 December 2006 (UTC) [reply]

ALBA Removal

[edit]

Excuse me, but how is what you just deleted from the page on the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) justified? How is it POV to contrast ALBA with FTAA by stating that it is more of a barter system of state-controlled resources and services when the rest of the article clearly and unambigiously says so in its examples? There was no value judgment in the text as to whether this is good or bad, so how is it POV? This is a classic example of something that should be discussed on a talk page *BEFORE* something is deleted as you've done, and I'm going to watch your next move on this carefully. Please explain your action on the ALBA talk page as appropriate. thanks NYDCSP 23:53, 16 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]
