Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, JHC1965. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page J. H. Chajes, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 10:05, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

- Thank you for your care and concern.
- Please be aware that the edit was minor and could hardly be considered controversial.
- It was of a purely factual nature and included a link to an external source that corroborated the statement. No evaluation, assessment, judgment, etc. was made or implied.
- To be specific -- the book mentioned in the paragraph to which the edit was made received the major book prize in the field. That was stated matter-of-factly and the website dedicated to the book prize was linked (https://www.associationforjewishstudies.org/professional-development/fellowships-and-awards/jordan-schnitzer-book-awards/2023-jordan-schnitzer-book-award-recipients#:~:text=The%20Kabbalistic%20Tree,State%20University%20Press))
- If you would rather that I not make the edit, would you be so kind as to do so yourself?
- Many thanks! JHC1965 (talk) 10:41, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
- You can request edits with the template {{edit COI}} on the article talk page, but you will need an independent source not the book awards own website. Theroadislong (talk) 10:48, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
