Welcome

[edit]

Dear JFBridge,

Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for the contributions you've already made. We hope you like the place and decide to stay. You can sign your name on talk pages by using " ~~~ " for your username and " ~~~~ " for your username and a timestamp.

You should also feel free to ask me a question on my talk page. I'll try to answer as soon as I can.

By the way, are you the user responsible for the contributions from the IP address 213.106.147.145? I've noticed some similarilites in the style. If you are, please read the messages left here. Let me know either way.

Best regards, RFBailey 16:26, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I accidentally created this page in the wrong place (as the User page rather than the User talk page: an inexcusable error) the first time round. Please accept my apologies for that. --RFBailey 21:48, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Stylistic Note

[edit]

Hi. I've been looking over some of your recent contributions, and before I say anything else, I want to make sure I point out that they're good contributions. However, its accepted convention to put spaces after punctuation marks like periods, commas, parentheses, etc... when writing something that will be viewed by others. I just thought I'd give you a heads up on that, since I know of at least one other editor who got in a fair amount of trouble for not spacing after punctuation marks.

Hope that helps. Gershwinrb 04:22, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Punctuation

[edit]

I see you've already been asked politely to use spaces after punctuation. I will ask once more. I appreciate your taking the time to add content on Laurel and Hardy, but if you don't use spaces properly, it falls on someone else (me, in this case) to go in and do it for you. It is not fun. Thanks. Denni talk 02:54, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marginal constituencies in the United Kingdom

[edit]

JF, Thanks for creating the article "Marginal Constituencies in the United Kingdom". I have fixed the stylistic errors that you made in the article in order to help you in making a good article. I am disappointed that you undid all of my work in re-creating the same article.

Here are the changes that I have made again, and why I have made them to help you understand Wikipedia style better:

  1. For article titles, "Unless the term you wish to create a page for is a proper noun, do not capitalize second and subsequent words." See Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(capitalization). This is why I have moved the article from "Marginal Constituencies in the United Kingdom" to "Marginal constituencies in the United Kingdom". the article
  2. For sub-headings within articles, "Capitalize the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns in headings, but leave the rest lower case. Thus 'Rules and regulations', not 'Rules and Regulations'." See WP:MOSHEAD.
  3. "Avoid links within headings. Depending on settings, some users may not see them clearly. It is much better to put the appropriate link in the first sentence under the heading." See WP:MOSHEAD.
  4. I have fixed the following links to direct the reader to the most relevant article:

Please checks these links to see why the links that I have made provide better information to the reader. Conservative is a disambiguation page that provides little information. Labour and General Election are articles about the concepts of "labour" and "general elections", and are not specific to the United Kingdom.

I have also provided an explanation and the beginning of each section to help the reader understand what he or she is reading. Please remember that Wikipedia is an international encyclopaedia, and not all readers will understand British political terminology.

Finally, I am concerned that your undoing of my changes suggest that you may be making the mistake that many new editors make, that of thinking that an article that you create in Wikipedia "belongs" to you, so you alone get to decide how it is formatted and what the content is. This is not the case. Please review WP:OWN.

If you have any questions, you can post on my talk page. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 12:02, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Punctuation again

[edit]

I see that other editors have politely asked you to be more careful about inserting spaces after punctuation marks, but that you have not responded to these messages and have continued to ignore their requests. By doing so, you are creating unnecessary work for other editors who have to go back over the articles you have revised, and fix the punctuation/spacing. If you continue in doing this, you run the risk that your otherwise valuable contributions may be reverted by impatient editors. --Russ (talk) 13:53, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Jack Rice

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Jack Rice requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. —BradV 18:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Adam Tomei

[edit]

I have nominated Adam Tomei, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adam Tomei. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Bongomatic 15:23, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Alan Haven requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Michael Johnson (talk) 22:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Alan Haven

[edit]

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you created, as you did with Alan Haven. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please do the following:

  1. Place {{hangon}} on the page. Please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag(s).
  2. Make your case on the article's talk page.

Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 22:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy at Alan Haven

Did not remove speedy deletion deliberately;I edited this out as I was creating page, and thought it was superfluous before I witnessed page creation.Alan Haven is mentioned on the page of former Miss World Lesley Langley, and has been a prolific and active musician since the 1960's.Will leave decision with relevant administrators.Thank You,JF Bridge,23.05 hrs,28/5/09.

Hi there JFridge, don't forget to add {{holdon}} to the article page when contesting speedy deletion, I've done it for you in this case. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 22:16, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello JFBridge! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 139 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Anthony Wager - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Suzy Kendall - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File:DSCF0218.JPG missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:DSCF0218.JPG is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Haruth (talk) 15:08, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Would be useful, e.g. to know where the museum was? I have requested a rename to Laurel and Hardy Museum (assuming that is the main item?) but you can change that when you go to edit the description if not the case. (Don't worry - if the rename happens before you get there, will be redirected automatically - but there is such a massive backlog, it is unlikely ;) ) Best wishes --Haruth (talk) 15:08, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:DSCF0218.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — ξxplicit 22:40, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Samantha Power (actress) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

BLP with no sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jokaz1892 (talk) 15:25, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey i added a reference tag to Henry G. Sanders, not sure if you have any sources or not. But if you follow the links on his filmography, you could probably pull some references from their page to cite. good luckMillertime246 (talk) 05:49, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Frank Gatliff has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 20:54, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of most-disliked YouTube videos

[edit]

Did you search the millions of videos on YouTube today to determine the 50 most disliked? Or did you find an independent reliable source that identifies the 50 most disliked videos today? The video linked in the article provides number of dislikes for that video only, but it has nothing about the number of dislikes on the remaining millions of videos on YouTube. I started a discussion on the talk page previously. I'll pose the same question to you there for a response. If you can't provide a response, consider this a warning for violating WP:V. I can only suggest you stop doing this tinkering as others may report you for such actions. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 03:32, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kim & Co. moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Kim & Co., is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
