Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "SB Media Editor", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because Username implies this is a shared account for the company SB Media. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. If you are not affiliated with SB Media I suggest still changing your username to something else so that people don't assume you are affiliated with the company.Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:09, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE: We are an organization known as Select Blinds, and we often use SB as an abbreviation. Our contact email is media relations, and our upcoming organizational Wikipedia page falls under the oversight of "media relations" - I submit to you that SB Media Editor is an appropriate username for this account.

You seem to be implying that this is a shared account, which per wikipedia's policies (WP:SHAREDACCOUNT) is not allowed. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:17, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE: I am an individual representative of the company - I am a copyeditor. It is not a shared account.

Alright, that is fine, however you should change your username to reflect that. The relevant policy is WP:ISU. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:21, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE: I can do that ... is SB Copyeditor acceptable?

That might be fine, however to be safe something like "John from Select Blinds" would be more acceptable (obviously you would substitute John for your name or an online name My name is not actually "Blaze Wolf" however that is what I go by online) ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:28, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RESPONSE: OK, I can submit for a name change in that vein.

Alright sounds good! Also, please make sure to sign with your signature on talk pages with ~~~~. Also you said your company was creating an article (Not a page) about themself correct? If so I suggest you have them take a look at WP:PAID and WP:PROMOTION and also see WP:NOTABILITY so they know if they should have an article on themself. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:19, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My organization intends to publish an informational page about the organization (formation, history, etc.) SB Media Editor (talk) 17:31, 13 December 2021 (UTC)BlindsYoullLove at SelectBlinds[reply]

Alright the sounds good. As long as it's backed by reliable sources it should be fine as long as it isn't promotional, however the addition of "Blinds You'll Love at Select Blinds" appears to be advertising so I'd recommend excluding that from your signature. If your company has already started it would you mind providing me with the link to it so I can take a look? ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:50, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I can exclude that from my signature moving forward. I have not started posting the page yet, but can send you a link when I do. Thanks. SB Media Editor (talk) 17:52, 13 December 2021 (UTC)BlindsYoullLove at SelectBlinds[reply]

No problem! Thanks for being so cooperative with me! ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:55, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem - what's the easiest way to get you the Wikipedia page I'm planning on posting for Select Blinds? In the Sandbox? JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 22:12, 13 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

You can start writing it in draft space via WP:AFCBlaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:04, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you read my draft at this URL? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Select_Blinds JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 15:16, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

Yep I can read it there. It appears to be good in terms of being non-promotional. However it's completely unsourced so it definitely wouldn't be accepted in this state. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:34, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, since you are writing about your business you must declare a COI. The instructions are how to do so are here. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:36, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good to know, thanks! Actually it is sourced, and I've added my sources... can you take another quick look at it? And yes, I did submit my COI via my user page, but it was not saved for some reason. Resubmitting now.JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 15:47, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:JCL_at_SelectBlinds JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 15:47, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

You didn't add them correctly, however I can easily fix it since you have the links in text form. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:56, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assistance! Still wrapping my head around this process. JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 16:04, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

You appear to have used the wrong COI template for your userpage. Also, based on the template you attempted to use you're being paid by the company? ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:22, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a permanent, full-time employee of the company. JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 16:24, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

Alright but is the company paying you to create the article, or are you simply just making it because you want to make an article for? If they aren't paying you to make the article specifically then you don't need to declare that you are a paid contributor but that you simply have a COI. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:28, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, I'm not getting paid above and beyond my regular salary to create the article. I chose to create it. JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 16:53, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

Ah alright, then you just have a COI and are not a paid editor. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:50, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added a COI statement to my user page as well as to the top of the article itself. I'm going to submit for review. Thank you for your assistance! JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 17:55, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

No problem! I don't think the article will be accepted in its current state but I can't really give much feedback on it because I"m not experienced enough in creating pages. I'll be able to explain the advice the reviewer gives you if it is declined (not rejected, rejected means it cannot be accepted as an article and you shouldn't resubmit it) ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:57, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thank you, I appreciate it. JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 18:03, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Select Blinds (December 14)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted because it included copyrighted content, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work. Novem Linguae (talk) 19:11, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So the issue here is that you are violating copyright. You cannot just copy what the sources say into your article. You have to summarize what the sources say in your own words. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:17, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I had included some of the copy from the company founder's Wiki page, but I can certainly make sure everything is reworded so as not to include any duplicate materials. Can I resubmit this article in a more standard Wikipedia page format (with the tables on the right and a company logo, etc.) using Wikipedia Article Wizard? JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 21:12, 14 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

Yes you can. You can continue to resubmit the article as you make improvements to it as long as it isn't rejected or accepted (if it's accepted you can't resubmit it anyway since it'll be moved to mainspace). ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:52, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
An example of what a good(ish) Wikipedia article should look like is Splatoon 3. I created the article (after some encouragement from other users on the Discord) after Splatoon 3 was announced in the Nintendo Direct. I found reliable sources that provided useful information (and not simply "The game was announced and that's all we know!" since it had been previously announced with little detail so there were older sources from that) and put what they said into my own words. Yes I may have used a few words or phrases from the source, however it's mostly in my own words. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:55, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thank you for the tips! JCL at SelectBlinds (talk) 15:23, 15 December 2021 (UTC)JCL at SelectBlinds[reply]

No problem! I'm happy to help you with you article since unlike some other users who write articles about their company, you are simply doing it because you want to. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:25, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
