The part about по- in front is not necessarily true.  The adverb по-русски does not necessarily mean in [the] Russian [language], although it can mean that; it can also mean in a Russian manner or in a Russian style.  Almost any adjective, related to a nationality or not, can be turned into an adverb in Russian by using по- in front and dropping the final й or by putting the adjective in dative case (i.e., по-моему).
A few more examples may be in order here.  По-чешски can mean in [the] Czech [language] as in the sentence я немножко говорю по-чешски (which can also be said я говорю на чешском [языке]), or it can mean in a Czech style as in the sentence они это сделали по-чешски, which means they did that the Czech way.  The adverb по-людски means as others do or in the acceptable way.
So, with that background, we need to look at what we're trying to translate, and that is the phrase, "I support the Russian-language Wikipedia with my contributions."  As with any translation, there are probably 8,000 different ways to render this in idiomatically correct Russian.  There are, of course, just as many possibilities at an incorrect translation.  The most literal approach would be я поддерживаю рускоязычную Википедию моими вкладами.  The box's current translation, я сотрудничаю в русской Википедии isn't bad and would be reverse-rendered as "I contribute to the Russian Wikipedia," which accurately conveys what we're looking for and is idiomatically correct Russian.  Returning to я сотрудничаю в Википедии по-русском leaves us with "I contribute to Wikipedia the Russian way," which isn't really what we're looking for, and the word по-русском is impossible in the Russian language (it's gramatically incorrect).  Russian in our translation is an adjective (русский) and not an adverb (по-русски).
If that doesn't make sense, post again on my talk page or e-mail, I'm happy to help.

Unspecified source for Image:Ussiowa.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ussiowa.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 14:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Tricityvalleycats.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tricityvalleycats.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Khatru2 04:01, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wendy.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wendy.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 01:20, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Wendy.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for Image:Car Talk.gif

[edit]

Image:Car Talk.gif is being used on this article.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. List of sister cities in New York

[edit]

Hi JB82. You are off to such a great start on the article List of sister cities in New York that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article. -- JayHenry 21:13, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An important letter

[edit]

Dear roads editor,

You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.

This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.

After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.

The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.

In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.

For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.

In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.

All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.

In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Regards,

I reverted your recent additions to this list, but I didn't want to do so without providing an explanation. The general consensus at Wikipedia talk:Reliable sources is that the IMDB does not qualify as a reliable source due to its general lack of editorial oversight, although it has value as an external link. As such, I removed Kunis and Pesci from the list. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 02:09, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ((1 == 2) ? (('Stop') : ('Go')) 03:31, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding flag icons

[edit]

Hi. I noticed you adding flag icons to a couple of biographical infoboxes. This practice has no consensual support, and in my view adds nothing to the articles. On the other hand, it can provoke pointless edit wars. I have therefore reverted your two additions. If you wish to restore them please ensure you have consensus in the article's discussion page to do so. WP:FLAG is a fairly well-developed essay which goes into further detail about good and bad use of flags in Wikipedia. Best wishes, --John 18:31, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New York county templates

[edit]

I see that you're the creator of several New York county templates, and that you still do some template work. Would you be willing to create templates for the last few counties that don't have them? At the moment, the only counties remaining are Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Ontario, Saint Lawrence, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Sullivan, and Yates. You can check on my county templates subpage to see which templates remain to be created at any given time. Nyttend 06:17, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Watervliet, New York

[edit]

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Watervliet, New York, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Glenn davis.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Glenn davis.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While I don't disagree with adding Ice Road Truckers to the template... I had already considered it and realized the show was about Canadian truckers. Although the show did air in the United States, so I guess an argument could be made to include it within the list. You won't hear any objections from me about it (I created the template), however, I can imagine someone will point it out eventually. I only wish I could have created an article and navbox for the worldwide trucking industry, however I realized such an undertaking would be too much for one person to handle... and I seem to be the only person interested in doing so. --ErgoSum88 (talk) 01:10, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia

Hi. I wonder if you would be kind enough to add a source for the membership of the Diocese which you added to the article (as seen in this diff - I am a Catholic within this diocese and would be interested where you got it from. It could prove useful for updating in the future :) Regards. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 02:33, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Television stations in Miami / Fort Lauderdale, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Television stations in Miami / Fort Lauderdale has been superseded by a similar category (typos in name, expanding abbreviations, fixing capitalisation, renaming to comply with the "by country" format and conversions from singular to plural or vice versa). (CSD C2).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Television stations in Miami / Fort Lauderdale, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
