Recent edit to Matt Maher
[edit]Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Matt Maher), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! JAaron95 | Talk | Contribs 16:47, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Please be careful
[edit]There was so much wrong with this edit to the Rhett Walker Band article.
- September 16, 2014 brought the sophomore album to the masses. "Here's to the One's" is the second release from their Essential Worship label and is a node to their southern upbringing. : <ref>http://www.breathecast.com/articles/the-rhett-wallker-band-explain-album-here-s-to-the-ones-perform-inspiring-single-on-bc-news-video-25041/</ref>
- The release date was not September 16, 2014, it was October 14, 2014. That's below in the discography section of the article and the album article itself. If you had a proper reference, it too would have had the date. You didn't, so you shouldn't have added it.
- We don't call second releases "sophomore". See MOS:SOPHOMORE.
- We use professional terms and "brought ... to the masses" isn't that. While creative writing is appreciated in magazines and other publications, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and we try to keep a professional and factual tone.
- Record albums are italicized not placed in quotes. Songs are placed in quotes. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Album article style guide.
- Another factual problem, the title of the album is Here's to the Ones, not Here's to the One's. A proper source would have helped you with that as well.
- If you just stated that the band's second album, you called it 'sophomore album", was release in the first sentence, why would you start the second sentence with stating that it was their second release? Being redundant is another another sign of poor writing style.
- The label was not Essential Worship, but Essential Records. Again, another factual error that a good source would have provided.
- Writing "is a node to their southern upbringing" is both unsupported and grammatically incorrect.
- The reference you supplied makes no claims to support that it had to with their heritage.
- A "node" is a lump or place where things come together (see this dictionary definition). I suspect you meant to write "nod". Please proof-read your content.
- In this context, "Southern" would be capitalized.
- Do not leave spaces between punctuation and references. You left a new line or "carriage return".
Please take more care when editing. As you do, your edits will be appreciated and will prevent other editors from reverting them wholesale. Walter Görlitz (talk) 19:56, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Ivettealexandra. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. At the wikicommons, on three different file talk pages you indicated that you "work for Provident Label Group/Sony Music Group." All of your edits have been to artists that are on that label. It's a problem when you're doing so to promote the bands at that label. It's not a problem, to me at least (I cannot speak for other editors), when you add correctly referenced material and improve the articles. Familiarize yourself with how the various Wikipedia projects work and work along with the project and you should stay out of trouble. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:20, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Ivettealexandra, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The plain and simple conflict of interest guide
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Contributing to Wikipedia

- How to create your first article (using the Article Wizard if you wish)

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome! Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:20, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Newport Worship Band
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Newport Worship Band requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —Largo Plazo (talk) 22:05, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
