Ye of many redirects
[edit]Hi It's More Fun to Compute, welcome to Wikipedia - I bet you didn't think you'd attract this much attention so quickly! As I said on the AN/I thread, there's been some recent drama involving odd redirects, and I think a lot of people are twitchy. If I were you, I'd take Elmidae's advice and stop for the time being, just to prevent further dramaification of the subject :-P Is there anything else you're interested in? If you ever need any help, feel free to drop me a message on my talk page -- samtar whisper 09:04, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
Category:People associated with the Beatles, etc
[edit]Hi! I've just noticed that you've been creating "People associated with...." categories, and have been populating them. I like the idea, but the reason we don't already have such categories is because they've been tried before, and consensus is that they are too problematic and unhelpful. I found that out, like you, by creating such a category for the Beatles, which was then deleted. I don't want you to waste time and effort on something that is highly likely to be deleted. I suggest you try and get some consensus for the "People associated with...." categories before continuing. Who knows, consensus may have changed, and people may be more willing to accept the notion these days. Regards SilkTork ✔Tea time 09:53, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- I did not know that, thanks for letting me know. - It's More Fun to Compute (talk) 09:56, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
- You could try starting a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Categories, or Wikipedia talk:Categorization, or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rock music, or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject The Beatles. You could start a discussion in one place, and then leave a message at the others saying a discussion is taking place. If you do that, let me know as I'm likely to support the idea. Not sure if Tangie Town --> Morrison Hotel -style redirects are going to be considered any less disruptive by AN/I... -- samtar whisper 12:03, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
Blocked
[edit]You know there's a problem with your dumb redirects, and yet you're continuing to create them. So I've blocked you until you agree to stop. Now this may be moot - the SPI implies, fairly reasonably, that you're a sock of a banned/blocked editor - but assuming for the moment you aren't a sock, you're going to need to agree to stop doing things you know people think are dumb. --Floquenbeam (talk) 15:55, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
