WikiCup 2022 November newsletter

The 2022 WikiCup has drawn to a close with the final round going down to the wire. The 2022 champion is

  • England Lee Vilenski (1752 points), who won in 2020 and was runner up in both 2019 and last year. In the final round he achieved 3 FAs and 15 GAs, mostly on cue sports. He was closely followed by
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132 (1732), who specialised in "In the news" items and DYKs, and who has reached the final round of the Cup for the past three years. Next was
  • Zulu (International Code of Signals) BennyOnTheLoose (1238), another cue sports enthusiast, also interested in songs, followed by
  • New York City Muboshgu (1082), an "In the news" contributor, a seasoned contestant who first took part in the Cup ten years ago. Other finalists were
  • Sammi Brie (930), who scored with a featured article, good articles and DYKs on TV and radio stations,
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh (370), who created various articles on famous Americans, including an FA on Louis H. Bean, famed for his prediction of election outcomes. Next was
  • Chicago PCN02WPS (292), who scored with good articles and DYKs on sporting and other topics and
  • Toronto Z1720 (25) who had DYKs on various topics including historic Canadians.

During the WikiCup, contestants achieved 37 featured articles, 349 good articles, 360 featured article reviews, 683 good article reviews and 480 In the news items, so Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors. Well done everyone! All those who reached the final round will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or the overall leader in this field.

  • England Lee Vilenski wins the featured article prize, for a total of 6 FAs during the course of the competition and 3 in the final round.
  • United Nations Kavyansh.Singh wins the featured list prize, for 3 FLs in round 2.
  • Adam Cuerden wins the featured picture prize, for 39 FPs during the competition.
  • Toronto Z1720 wins the featured article reviewer prize, for 35 FARs in round 4.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius wins the good article prize, for 32 GAs in round 1.
  • SounderBruce wins the featured topic prize, for 4 FT articles in round 1.
  • England Lee Vilenski wins the good topic prize, for 34 GT articles in round 5.
  • Sammi Brie wins the good article reviewer prize, for 71 GARs overall.
  • Sammi Brie wins the Did you know prize, for 30 DYKs in round 3 and 106 overall.
  • Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132 wins the In the news prize, for 106 ITNs in round 5 and 289 overall.

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January and possible changes to the rules and scoring are being discussed on the discussion page. You are invited to sign up to take part in the contest; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to have a good turnout for the 2023 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners and finalists, and thank all participants for their involvement! TFA

November songs

Thank you today for Shepseskaf, about the "last pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty, who ruled Ancient Egypt for 4 to 8 years in the late 26th to mid 25th century BC. Shepseskaf's relations to his predecessor and successor are uncertain and very few activities are known from his reign. Strikingly, he broke with the tradition of his forebears who had built the great pyramids of Giza, and chose instead to have a (relatively) small mastaba tomb built for himself in a remote corner of the Saqqara necropolis. The reasons for and significance of this decision continue to be debated in Egyptology."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:44, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

Gerda Arendt Thank you Gerda for your kind words and tireless work ! Iry-Hor (talk) 14:39, 29 November 2022 (UTC)

A thought

Hey, nice to see you editing lately :)

I thought I'd bring it to your attention that there have been some concerns about the article on Ahmose I. It became FA back in WP's early days and is rather messy—will probably end up at FAR at some point. I know it's not the period you specialize it, but in case you're interested, it could use an experienced hand. Aza24 (talk) 06:00, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

Aza24 Sure I would be glad to help if I can, my editing time is pretty irregular though so forgive me if I am sometimes slow. I have plenty of resources on my computer I can check to begin with, starting e.g. with the chronology. What are the problems you spotted with the article ?Iry-Hor (talk) 08:57, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Well there are more general issues like messy citation formatting and overall layout, but in general the sources seem very underused in the article. I think much of the content can remain, just needs to be presented better. There's also a discussion on the talk page from a few months ago concerning these things Talk:Ahmose I#Citations neededAza24 (talk) 22:50, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

WikiCup 2023 March newsletter

So ends the first round of the 2023 WikiCup. Everyone with a positive score moved on to Round 2, with 54 contestants qualifying. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

  • Unlimitedlead with 1205 points, a WikiCup newcomer, led the field with two featured articles on historical figures and several featured article candidate reviews.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius was in second place with 789 points; a seasoned WikiCup competitor he specialises in buildings and locations in New York.
  • Germany FrB.TG was in third place with 625 points, garnered from a featured article on a filmmaker which qualified for an impressive number of bonus points.
  • United States TheJoebro64, another WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points gained from two featured articles on video games.
  • Byzantine Empire Iazyges was in fifth place with 532 points, from two featured articles on classical history.

The top sixteen contestants at the end of Round 1 had all scored over 300 points; these included Berkelland LunaEatsTuna, Thebiguglyalien, Sammi Brie, New England Trainsandotherthings, England Lee Vilenski, Indonesia Juxlos, Unexpectedlydian, Washington (state) SounderBruce, Wales Kosack, BennyOnTheLoose and Chicago PCN02WPS. It was a high-scoring start to the competition.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. The first round finished on February 26. Remember that any content promoted after that date but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Some contestants made claims before the new submissions pages were set up, and they will need to resubmit them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Sturmvogel 66 and Cwmhiraeth. For clarity.

Neutrality is erasing opinion.

That is exactly what neutrality is. Fact without opinion. 2A00:23C8:AB80:8001:C557:46F2:8E7C:2375 (talk) 14:59, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Neutrality is the absence of bias. This is not a synonym for opinion. An opinion formed on the basis of available fact and free of the distortion of bias is neutral. Wikipedia articles are expected to contain opinion: [u]sually, articles will contain information about the significant opinions that have been expressed about their subjects. That is verbatim from the WP:NPOV policy. This comes with the expectation that opinions be attributed to their sources, or where they represent a widely held view to be described as such. I suggest you find a different hobby, as your temperament is absolutely unsuited for editing the encyclopedia. Mr rnddude (talk) 06:49, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
I agree with Mr rnddude and Wikipedia's WP:NPOV policy, neutrality is not erasing opinion, it is stating all expert opinions with equal weight.Iry-Hor (talk) 08:20, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Request for comment

Hello, Iry-Hor! I am not sure if we have formally met, but I am Unlimitedlead. I am currently working on Early life of Cleopatra alongside PericlesofAthens, with the end goal of getting it to FA status. As you are one of the leading experts on Ancient Egypt on this site, may I request some quick feedback about the current state of the article and what I can do to improve it? Thank you kindly, Unlimitedlead (talk) 12:50, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

Dear Unlimitedlead I think you are overestimating my expertise! From what I can see the article is very well cited, reads very well (I am quite fond of your footnotes) and seems quite complete. On this latter point I cannot be completely sure for I guess it must be very difficult to cover all sources on such a subject and I don't even know which authors are authoritative on this late period. That would be my only question if I were to comment it at FAC: how do you know the subject is covered in full and how were the sources chosen? Now for some minor technical aspects:
  • At FAC it is advised to order references in ascending fashion, for example in the sentence "[...]wrote Greek medical works which may have been inspired by the physicians at her father's royal court.[35][34]" the references should be inverted and put as"[34][35]", unordered refs appears in many other places. Personally I find this requirement on the order a bit annoying because you might have good reasons for putting [35] before [34] (for example one source is more precise on the point you a referring to, may be a primary source while the other is secondary etc.) but this will probably come up in the comments if you don't order them.
  • All images have alt text, I found no duplinks, you used US English throughout consistently and the format of the refs is perfect.
  • On "[...] such as Sobekneferu, Hatshepsut, and Nefertiti.[36]" is the source only listing these ? If so keep the list as it is. If not, why not include Twosret in addition ? I guess Merneith and Neithhotep are too ancient to have been known to Cleopatra.
  • I think Manetho is primarily referred to as a priest or as a "priest-historian" rather than just "historian". Perhaps you could add priest to his epithets ?
  • In the "See also" what is the logic behind the the order of the links? Perhaps a chronological ordering would make sense for example: Reign of Cleopatra VII, Death of Cleopatra, Amanirenas, List of cultural depictions of Cleopatra, Cleopatra race controversy. I propose this because a reader would probably want to go to her reign after her early life since the article stops at the reign's beginning. Then the Death of Cleopatra makes sense in this logic to provide here entire rest of life in two links, while Amanirenas would seem good just after, being a contemporary. To me however List of cultural depictions of Cleopatra and Cleopatra race controversy should come after all of these for they are articles on "modern" subjects and of modern concern.Iry-Hor (talk) 08:15, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback; it was most helpful to gain an outside perspective on the article before taking it to FAC. And do not feel the need to humble yourself: undeniably the articles about Ancient Egypt on this site would be in a horrific state without you! Take care, Unlimitedlead (talk) 12:58, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

On Ahmose I

Dear Aza24 how is Ahmose I coming ? I will have time to edit wikipedia starting next week so I was thinking about editing Ahmose I and Merenre I Nemtyemsaf. Was Ahmose I set up at FAR at some point or not yet ?Iry-Hor (talk) 07:40, 7 April 2023 (UTC) [EDIT]: I have started to add some facts about Ahmose.Iry-Hor (talk) 07:14, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

Ahmose I isn't formally at FAR, but will likely be at some point. I had planned to reformat some of the existing citations but have found myself busy lately. Your additions look great, definitely working in the right direction. Aza24 (talk) 05:57, 13 April 2023 (UTC)

WikiCup 2023 May newsletter

The second round of the 2023 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to have scored 60 points to advance into round 3. Our top five scorers in round 2 all included a featured article among their submissions and each scored over 500 points. They were:

Other notable performances were put in by Sammi Brie, Thebiguglyalien, MyCatIsAChonk, Chicago PCN02WPS, and London AirshipJungleman29.

So far contestants have achieved thirteen featured articles between them, one being a joint effort, and forty-nine good articles. The judges are pleased with the thorough reviews that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Hi Iry-Hor, I don't believe we've ever interacted before; I'm reaching out because you are one of the few editors listed at WP:FAM with an interest in mathematics articles. Some time ago, I wrote the article Affine symmetric group (a topic typically not encountered outside of the context of post-graduate study in combinatorics), and managed to get it promoted to GA. If you have the time, I would be interested in your assessment of whether it is a plausible candidate for FA. (I am also asking Ceranthor.) Thanks, JBL (talk) 21:03, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Dear JayBeeEll yes I am happy to help, I will read over it and let you know for my comments. Also I will help once the article is at FAC, I always worry this type of article may not get enough reviews there.Iry-Hor (talk) 06:25, 31 May 2023 (UTC)
Thanks so much! Yes, I realize that if it goes for FAC there will be an issue with getting enough reviews (it's one reason I haven't felt any urgent need to move forward with it), so I appreciate your offer of help there, too. --JBL (talk) 17:19, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Aza24 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate Iry-Hor to be Editor of the Week for their profound and immense improvements to Ancient Egypt related topics. They've authored 14 featured articles and seven good articles, which includes an FA for all nine rulers of Egypt's Fifth Dynasty. Their contributions extend to a host of other Egyptian rulers, including edits to articles for nearly every ruler of the region's ancient history. It is not simply quantity that Iry-hor brings to Wikipedia, it is academic and scholarly rigor that has few matches on the site. Their featured articles frequently surpass 100 references, carefully balancing the diverse opinions of Egyptologists and spanning English, French and German sources. As a Wikipedian, they are most generous with their time and offer genuine camaraderie when called upon for assistance. This nomination was seconded by Unlimitedlead, Gog the Mild and AirshipJungleman29. – Aza24 (talk) 22:15, 21 March 2023 (UTC)

Dear Iry-Hor,

It seems that time is running out for Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Affine symmetric group/archive1, unfortunately -- if you have the opportunity to comment (or know any other editors who participate in the FA article process and might not be intimidated by a mathematics article), it would be much appreciated.

All the best, JBL (talk) 23:02, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

JayBeeEll Thanks for letting me know, I had not seen it at FAC as I was very busy outside Wikipedia. I am going away on vacations so I took the opportunity of your message to write something at FAC. Is there some Maths project on wikipedia ? If there is it might be a good idea to contact its members to obtain reviews and support. At the moment the real issue is not the article itself but rather the lack of reviewers due to the subject.Iry-Hor (talk) 16:22, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

Thanks very much! I did leave a notification at WT:WPM, but it didn't drum up any comments, unfortunately. --JBL (talk) 18:10, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your feedback, encouragement, and support getting Affine symmetric group through the FA process -- I couldn't have done it without you! JBL (talk) 19:16, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
JayBeeEll Thank you very much that is nice of you but you are overestimating my contribution. Congratulations to you for this achievement, a FA on Wikipedia is already quite a success but I think a maths one is especially worthy of note. Look I will propose it as Today's featured article so it appears on the main page at some point.Iry-Hor (talk) 13:34, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
Thanks and thanks! I spent a few minutes the other day trying to figure out how TFA worked and gave up, so I'm again glad to have the help of someone who knows what they're doing :). --JBL (talk) 21:21, 26 August 2023 (UTC)

I need help.

Hey iry Hor! Since your an expert in Egypt, I was wondering if there was a pharaoh called Aba and an unnamed king after him. Sensagent.com lists in its pharaoh lists a king aba before merenre II. There’s another website that list basically the same thing. Are there any sources for this? I’m not an expert in Egypt (unless you count my memorization of all the dynasties until 13th) so I wondered if you could help. Thank you! Emmanuelbruh (talk) 22:11, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Dear Emmanuelbruh, I am no expert, I only own a few books. And indeed it is impressive to remember all kings up to the 13th Dynasty !. So regarding this king, I believe you might be referring to Ibi (also called Aba in the sources owing to older transliteration of the reed sign). Ibi reigned in the Eighth Dynasty of Egypt during the Early First Intermediate Period, shortly after Merenre Nemtyemsaf II (of the Sixth Dynasty of Egypt, knowing that the 7th is fictitious and all kings of the period are short-reigned). Ibi's predecessor depends on which authority you trust for the 8th Dynasty, which is a very troubled time. For von Beckerath it was Neferkamin Anu, but more recent appraisals (like that by Papazian) leave his predecessor uncertain. The 8th Dynasty is a fascinating time, which deserves more work on wikipedia !Iry-Hor (talk) 08:05, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
Dear Iry-hor, thank you for your kind response, i couldve asked thanatosimii but he mightve quit, here rthe propably unreliable link https://dictionary.sensagent.com/list%20of%20pharaohs/en-en/ Emmanuelbruh (talk) 23:37, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. WikiCup 2024 March newsletter

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! I could use your expertise on a detail

I've been going over the article on Sobekneferu which I expanded significantly several years ago. I've come across a detail I added that I'm unable to properly resolve. I came across – for whatever reason – a memoir from Edouard Naville published in 1887. It's freely available on Google Books. In it, Naville mentions a black granite sphinx statue that he found at Khaatanah, Kantir (Qantir) that appeared to him to carry the name of Sebekneferu (p. 21). However, he identified it as belonging to the Thirteenth Dynasty. There is a pl. ix. c in the appendix and it does carry the name Sobekneferu in cartouche and with nsw bit preceding, but he doesn't mention it in prose at all. I'm wondering, was there a point in Egyptology that Sobekneferu was thought to belong to the Thirteenth Dynasty? I'm also trying to figure out how I'd be able to identify where that statue is now or if it even still exists. Any ideas, yours or a learned tps' input desired. Thanks, Mr rnddude (talk) 16:53, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

Dear Mr rnddude
  • On the 12th/13th Dynasty issue: It seems to me some of the problem is that the source is quite old (also let's beware of the fact that the appendix picture is what Naville read not a photograph from which his reading can be appraised. Indeed, he insists that the reading was difficult which is not the feeling his drawing conveys). In 1887 the understanding of the late Middle Kingdom to early SIP was quite a work in progress. Traditionally some made the 12th Dynasty stop with the death of Amenemhat III so that Sobekneferu (and Amenemhat IV but then largely unknown) was considered 13th Dynasty. The transition 12th/13th Dynasty is still somewhat mysterious to me (i.e. in what sense did the dynasty change?): the identity of Amenemhat IV's successor is debated but the two main candidates likely had some blood connection to the preceding rulers. The capital of Egypt was Itjtawy at the time and did not seem to move until late in the 13th Dynasty. As with the Old Kingdom, Manetho'sd ynasties may not relate well our modern concept of what a dynasty is. According to Africanus the last ruler of the 12th Dynasty was "Skemiophris" (possibly Sobekneferu) and no mention is made of Amenemhat IV, while the 13th Dynasty account is super fuzzy ("60 kings of Thebes for 453 years"). Naville must have known Manetho so his choice seems deliberate. The Turin canon had not been properly published at the time (waiting for Gardiner's first publication) so he could not have used this source.
  • On the sphinx (note Tell ed-Dab‘a = Qantir = Khatana = Avaris): in the Encyclopedia of the Archaeology of Ancient Egypt, p. 950 in the article on Qantir it says that Naville excavated it and: "Contacts at this time with Ebla (Tell Mardikh) in Syria can be demonstrated by a scepter of King Hotepibre (early 13th Dynasty) found in an Ebla royal tomb. A statue of the same king was found by Labib Habachi at Tell ed-Dab‘a, together with statues of the last monarch of the 12th Dynasty, Queen Sobekneferu. It is not improbable that Tell ed-Dab‘a, which was inhabited then mainly by Asiatics, played an important role in this king’s foreign relations." In the Blackwell companion to Ancient Egypt p. 908 we have some precisions: "Sobeknofru, the wife of Amenemhet IV and, according to the historian Manetho, his sister as well, was the last king of Dynasty Twelve. On three headless statues from Khatana (Habachi 1952: 458ff., pls. 8–9) she wears traditional female attire, but, in a torso in the Louvre of unknown provenance (Delange 1987: 30–1), she is depicted with both male and female attributes. Atop the traditional female sheath dress, she wears a nemes, a double lobed, pierced amulet on a beaded chain of the type usually worn by kings beginning with Senwosret II, and a high-waisted kilt with a triangular projection first appearing under Senwosret III. Another attempt to combine genders is shown in her use of both male and female titles (Callender 2000: 170–1)." I think Naville's sphinx is one of the statues (re)published by Habachi who worked in Avaris, see "Habachi, L. 1954. Khatâ‘na-Qantir: Importance, ASAE 52: 443–562." look at p. 458.Iry-Hor (talk) 15:21, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look at this and finding the relevant information so quickly. Habachi did find the same statue. He writes about it on p. 462 in the version available on archive.org. He mentions that Naville read the cartouche as carrying her nomen Sobekneferu, rather than her praenomen Sobekkare as Habachi identifies. Though, he says that no sign is visible there anymore. He also says that it is made of basalt... which is a touch unfortunate because I'd just corrected the article from basalt to granite because Naville said granite and not basalt. Curiously the sphinx was left in its original place. Perhaps not enough of the sphinx remained to be worth retrieving. Given the drawings by both Naville and Habachi, it might just be a block with part of the forepaws that still exists and nothing more. I'll take a further look around for anything more about it. Thanks again, Mr rnddude (talk) 17:00, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
Mr rnddude It is also interesting that the find spot is Avaris. As likely happened for other similar finds (e.g. the colossus of Imyremeshaw) the sphinx might have originated from elsewhere (Itjtawy?) and could have been transported there under the Hyksos. Opposite this view, in his monumental work on Avaris Avaris, THE CAPITAL OF THE HYKSOS Recent Excavations at Tell el-Dab'a, Manfred Bietak wrote : " In 1941 Labib Habachi found a statue of this king together with three statues of the queen Sobeknofru, the last ruler of the 12th Dynasty, in a small sanctuary near our palace. This king had perhaps originally been the queen's chief steward, who after her reign was in a position to seize the Egyptian throne for a time. His name indicates that he was the son of an Asiatic. Most likely he was one of the functionaries of the Asiatic settlement at Tell el-Dabca.". So he seems to think Habachi uncovered the statues (he cites Habachi's 1954 paper), makes no mention of Naville, and postulates an interesting connection between Sobekneferu and of the early 13th Dynasty king. On the end of the 12th Dynasty, Grajeztki states here (http://escholarship.org/uc/item/3gk7274p) an opposite view: "The end of the 12th Dynasty and the succession to the 13th Dynasty are still not fully understood. It is most often assumed that Amenemhat IV did not leave any male heir and that Neferusobek also died without an heir so that a new, unrelated line of rulers ascended the throne". He refers to this as a source on Sobekneferu's reign. Do you want more details on her reign ? I can look deeper in my numerical library.Iry-Hor (talk) 17:40, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
By all means, additional sources and information appreciated if you have the time and interest for it. Mr rnddude (talk) 18:06, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
Mr rnddude I am just back from vacations, yes I will look into my library and shall post here if I find new stuff related to Sobekneferu.Iry-Hor (talk) 09:15, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
