Discussion about Negan.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of The X-Files characters, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Neville. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Information icon Hello, I'm TylerBurden. I noticed that you recently removed content from Vikings (2013 TV series) without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Read WP:FANCRUFT, entire plot summaries for multiple characters isn't necessary. Having a brief description about a character's role is necessary, but keyword: brief. If it goes over a paragraph per season, it's too long. Explaining the entire seasons multiple times isn't necessary, especially when the episode pages do it just fine. There is also the fact that some of what I removed were arbitary unimportant quotes (like Max's zoomer remarks), or claiming Will is confirmed gay when it's not confirmed yet and his actor stated that he wasn't (I saw how people saw Will as gay in that scene, but given that we have an interview stating the contrary it shouldn't be stated as fact until 100% confirmed). Summaries and images

[edit]

Hi,

I don’t understand why you removed the summaries and images. There's no rules on what can and cannot be included in the lead on season pages. I've seen many that contain summaries and images of players. 185.213.212.242 (talk) 14:50, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Characters in a song of Ice and Fire

[edit]

I see you recently added a character that isn't in a song of ice and fire back into the list of characters. If you would like to readd them, could you provide a source that they are a character in the series? Ser Duncan wasn't in the books, and died before its events in a second set of novels not named a song of ice and fire. Thanks for not mixing franchises further. A song of ice and fire should have been a trilogy (talk) 14:25, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The character still originated from the ASOIAF novels, though only by mentions instead of appearances, but that still makes him an ASOIAF character. And I don't understand why you're saying that we're "mixing" franchises. The Hedge Knight is still the same franchise. There's also a couple of other characters from The Tales of Dunk and Egg, so Duncan isn't the only one. I don't see any reason to remove him. IronMaximus (talk) 06:11, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ted Lasso

[edit]

"If someone only appears in one or two episodes of a season, then it's wrong to list them as recurring for that season", what? We aren't marking them down per season. The cast section is reflecting the series as a whole. You make one or two appearances throughout the series, that's a guest appearance. You make multiple appearances as the same character throughout the show's run, you are recurring. Ellie Taylor has appeared four times as Sassy. That is a recurring role, why are you forcing her back into the guest section? Rusted AutoParts 21:28, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we are marking them down per season. Look at the cast sections of other TV shows. Ellie Taylor may be recurring throughout the show but she has never been a recurring character within one season. If someone was a recurring actor in season one and then got promoted to the main cast in season two, then we also wouldn't write "main role seasons 1-2", we would list them as a recurring character for season one and then as a main character in season two. Imagine if we did a cast table for the show (similiar to List of Game of Thrones characters and many other character lists), there is one cast table for the main cast and one for the recurring cast. Would we add Ellie Taylor into the recurring cast table? No, we wouldn't because she's never been a recurring character within one season. Now instead of cast tables we have the cast section on the main page of the table, split into main, recurring and guest characters. If we put Ellie Taylor into the recurring cast section, then that would make it seem as if she's been a recurring character in both seasons, but that's not the case, she's a guest character in both seasons, so she belongs in the guest cast section. IronMaximus (talk) 07:43, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're missing my point. Look at Breaking Bad's cast section, in particular it's Recurring. Let's isolate Tina Parker as an example. Her involvement in a given season may only span 1 episode or two, but overall as she made so many cumulative appearances (9 in total), she was inherently a recurring character. The caveats for additions to the main cast are appropriately noted as such too. Jonathan Banks was merely a guest in the second season but became main in the third. That's when it's appropriate to note their status when they haven't been around since the start, or left before end of the series/didnt appear in seasons before the end. Objectively speaking, Sassy is a recurring character. She has made multiple appearances in the show and keeping her in Guest is just patently incorrect. Rusted AutoParts 07:57, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On the Breaking Bad page two episodes within one season are already counted as recurring, that's why Tina Parker is also included in the recurring cast table on List of characters in the Breaking Bad franchise. It varies from article to article, some count 2 as recurring, some 3 or even 4. With Ted Lasso we went with 3 episodes. And I don't think that I miss your point. Yes, Sassy recurs throughout the show, but if we put her into the recurring cast section, then that would make it seem as if she has been a recurring character in every season, but that's not the case. She has never been a recurring character in a season, so she belongs in the guest section. IronMaximus (talk) 09:10, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I really think you are considering you’re still saying she doesn’t count as recurring. The cast section on the main show page NEEDS to reflect what goes on throughout the show, and tally cast appearances in an accurate way. You present a Main, Recurring and Guest section. Like I have said when someone is only appearing once or twice throughout the show, that’s a guest role. When a character makes frequent appearances throughout the show’s run, that’s recurring. 2 appearances in season one, 2 in season 2. In what universe does that not constitute someone being a recurring cast member? Rusted AutoParts 23:51, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Because the cast section is marked down per season. That's how it's done per WP:TVCAST. I don't know how else to explain it than with the cast table example. If we did a recurring cast table and a guest cast table (e.g. X-Files, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy), then Ellie Taylor would be included in the guest cast table. For All Mankind

[edit]

I can understand your removal about Dev, but I fail to see how insights about what is plausible or not about the technology in For All Mankind is just “trivia and theory”. These are very interesting things for space enthusiasts watching the show (we have intense discussions about this at work and with friends), to know what is real or not, plausible or not. Furthermore I added links that helps the reader know more about stuff like the Sea Dragon. The creators of the show give interviews about this, so the topic is legit. How is it "just trivia and theories"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Comacque (talkcontribs) 13:09, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A one season show doesn't need a cast table

Forgive me, but does a one season show like The Book of Boba Fett even need its own unique “list of characters” page? Since List of Star Wars Rebels characters and other list pages like it got redirected to List of Star Wars characters, I was wondering, if an incorporation/merger should not be proposed. It's striking me that it's weird even by Star Wars Wikipedia page standards that it even has one, since it is a miniseries, most of the information fleshed out is on characters introduced in The Mandalorian, and if one was to cut that (info summarised better in the other lists on Wikipedia), one is left with a whole load of WP:FANCRUFT on minor original characters. 113.30.191.65 (talk) 03:06, 29 October 2023 (UTC) 113.30.191.65 (talk) 03:06, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
