Lion King cub
[edit]This is Brittany, Mr. Punnett's student.
I was assigned to write about the newborn cub shown at the end of Disney's "The Lion King." The character is referenced on "The Lion King" Wiki page: "Rafiki presents Simba and Nala's newborn cub to the inhabitants of the Pride Lands." I plan to discuss the backstory of the cub, providing information about the character's active role in the storyline and creation in the filmmaking process.

- That is very well, Brittany Cruz BenU. Do you have independent reliable sources that discuss this cub and the character's backstory in some detail? Such sources would be needed for any new article on the subject. I urge you to read Wikipedia's Golden Rule, Your First Article, and Notability. I will be happy to help with Wikipedia policies, guidelines and techniques. I strongly suggest that you use the Article Wizard for the initial drafting of any new article. Please post a link here to the article draft when you have created it, and I can review it and advise. DES (talk) 11:58, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
I plan to pull my information from official Disney websites, books and DVD releases, where the cub is discussed. As such, many of my sources will be coming directly from Walt Disney Company products. If I have questions, would you prefer me to write them on here or your talk page?
Thank you, @DESiegel:. I look forward to working with you and getting my article started.

- Thank you for your response, Brittany Cruz BenU. You may ask any questions either here, or on my talk page, or on the talk page of the draft, once you create it. (I do urge you to use the Article wizard an initially create the page in the Draft: namespace. Many Wikipedia standards are less strictly enforced on drafts.) If you post on my user talk page I will be automatically notified. If on either of the other pages, please include
{{ping|DESiegel}}
as you did above. However, you should be aware that the {{ping}} (or the alternative version {{U}}) will only work if it is included in the same edit as your signature. Otherwise the software will not recognize it as a reason to notify me. See Wikipedia:Notifications for more detail if you wish.
- Also note that in addition to official sources from Disney, independent sources are required to establish the notability of the topic. These must be reliable sources that are in no way affiliated with the subject, in this case with Disney. They must discuss the topic is some detail, usually a minimum of 3-4 paragraphs in each source. Film reviews by noted reviewers or published by establish newspapers or magazines (not blogs or fan sites) that specifically discuss the cub would do nicely. So would books of film criticism published by major publishers. Such sources need not be online, although it is convenient if they are. Without such independent sources, the article would not be approved, or if created directly, might well be deleted in short order.
- I also look forward to working with you. Note that I may not always respond so quickly, particularly during the work day. DES (talk) 00:05, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
