POTUS
I was always taught, and likewise teach my students, that the word president, when used to refer to POTUS, is always capitalized. It differentiates that high office from other presidents (corporations, home owners' associations, fan clubs, etc.). Using the lower case when referring to the President is a recent, inelegant, and troubling affectation. Newspapers, for whatever reason (an attempt to use less ink?), are the chief promoters of this practice. Unfortunately, it seems to have caught on. If Wikipedia chooses to follow this path, shame on it. Paddymc68 16:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- "Shame"? That's rather strong language. We are talking about an elected (mostly) official of a free republic, not a monarch, heirophant or dictator. --Orange Mike 14:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Mike, in an entirely more articulate way than I could have managed, explained this well both here and on your talk page. Personally, I don't really care. I just read the manual of style and that's the consensus here on Wikipedia, so that's why I reverted the edits. I didn't write the MoS. Into The Fray T/C 06:11, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Me, articulate? I'm an uppity bogtrotter peasant (redneck variant) by origin and attitude; never much of one for deference to the self-designated "better" classes in general. --Orange Mike 13:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Please don't report this user until we have given him a chance to reply to my message on his talk page. If he continues to edit and not reply, then I think we should go ahead and block him. (By the way, as it is not blatant advertising, you may well be breaking the WP:3RR if you revert again. Thanks. Tiddly-Tom 23:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- He has had every opportunity to respond to messages on talk pages and his link is borderline at best. I doubt highly that I'm in violation of 3RR by reverting him, but I'll let you handle it if you feel inclined. Cheers. Into The Fray T/C 23:12, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- I strongly suspect User talk:Hidden2m of being the same person ;) Tiddly-Tom 23:28, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm. Fairly unsubtle both in edits and user name choices. Into The Fray T/C 23:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
THE ELECTRICITY COUNCIL CONTRACT - ENFIELD 8000 - A VALID SOURCE FOR THE WIKIPEDIA STANDARDS?
I have the Electricity Council contract in PDF format and, I believe, you will find it useful and revealing. How do I sent it to you? Please answer on my user page or both, yours and mine. Constantine Adraktas 12:59, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
No probs, You've beat me to it heaps tonight :-) --Bencomplain 02:25, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
vandalism
You're welcome! and next time someone reverts vandalism in your user space, consider using {{substvangel}} to thank them! :) — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 03:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- heh. FYI, I decided to remove the header part, so that you can just + a new topic, fill in the subject and put in the template. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 03:49, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Equalrightscrusader
I should have known *grrrr*. Sorry about that. Got too nice. --Amaraiel 03:50, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- I guess so. Looks like the guy caused alot of trouble in his prime though. Can't help but feel a little naive. Anyway, happy hunting :) --Amaraiel 03:53, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Aaron Waters
Thanks for letting me know -- I was horrified at the thought that I might have accidentally speedied a userpage and thinking, "Geez, am I doing this too fast? Maybe time to take a break..." -- You may want to keep an eye on this young man since he's currently redirecting his userpage to a red-lined article that apparently will be about himself again <sigh>. Thanks for your help. Accounting4Taste 04:59, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Twinkle
Do you know if Twinkle works in vista I.E. 7? --Amaraiel 05:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Firefox is giving me alot of trouble. All color and sparkle is gone and wikipedia looks like it was done by a 3rd Grader with minimal HTML skills. God it's too early in the morning to deal with this --Amaraiel 05:18, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Green County Daily News
I have addressed this with the admin (the person who is originally responsible for the post and he says he will continue to do so. I say it's time for someone hire up to step in before legal action is taken. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Greenecountydailyworld (talk • contribs) 14:27, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Say what? ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:34, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ahh... ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:35, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Edit conflict, probably. I went to mark the page with {{advert}} and in the meantime someone deleted it, so NPWatcher created a new page. I was confused too. Into The Fray T/C 14:36, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Or . . . no. NPWatcher created the page. I meant to tag Cancer Therapy & Research Center with advert. I'll just do it the old fashioned way. Into The Fray T/C 14:37, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Curiouser and curiouser! I didn't know that NPWatcher could create new articles, seems... hypocritical of it do so :) ˉˉanetode╦╩ 14:42, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Confused the hell out of me, that's for sure. All is well now, though. Into The Fray T/C 14:43, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Cheers buddy
Just wanted to say thanks for reverting vandalism my user page, I'm quite impressed 69.113.27.13 did it 3 times in a row, lol how futile. I take it ur to thank for reporting him to the admins yea? Well I thought I'd use this happy occasion to get one of those "vandalised counters" u have, know how I get one? Ryan4314 21:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
WTF?, indeed
I'm not sure what to think; but I'll probably monitor his(?) contributions for a while, just to be safe. --Orange Mike 23:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
The Day
Active day so far? I've been in class all day. Sorry I missed all the action :( --Amaraiel 21:53, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've been meaning to ask Nawlin or Persian this question, but has there been any activity on the September 11th attack page? Seeing as today is Sep 11th I was expecting it to be massacred. --Amaraiel 21:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Need an Admin at AIV
AIV Heavily backlogged, i'm letting Nawlin and Persian know as well. --Amaraiel 15:50, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Flattering, but I'm not an admin. Good luck to you with the vandal fighting! :) Into The Fray T/C 19:01, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
username controversy
Thanks for the notification. It was just an angry mob of McCain supporters. --knivesout8 19:10, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
- It was one individual, hardly a mob. I doubt that it was politically motivated. Please remember to remain civil and assume good faith. Into The Fray T/C 19:26, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
