- An RfC is open to add a delay of one week from nomination to deletion for G13 speedy deletions.
- Last week all wikis were very slow or not accessible for 30 minutes. This was due to server lag caused by regenerating dynamic lists on the Russian Wikinews after a large bulk import. (T287380)
- Following an amendment request, the committee has clarified that the Talk page exception to the 500/30 rule in remedy 5 of the Palestine-Israel articles 4 case does not apply to requested move discussions.
- You can vote for candidates in the 2021 Board of Trustees elections from 4 August to 17 August. Four community elected seats are up for election.

Some advice
Hey! Since you're also interested in lists of vital people, and since you've been kind enough to provide me with some advice on maintaining mine, I thought I would reach out to you and ask what you thought about a change to the layout of the list that I've been turning over in my head.
The current configuration of the lists is Level 1 with 50 people, Level 2 with 500, and Level 3 with 5000. There are unofficial Levels 1.5 and 2.5. I was thinking of remaking this into:
- Level 1: 5 people (Gautama Buddha, Aristotle, Jesus, Muhammad, Isaac Newton)
- Level 2: 50 people
- Level 3: 500 people
- Level 4: 5000 people
- Delete current Levels 1.5 and 2.5
Thoughts? Does having a level with only five people on it seem weird. I just think that people like Jesus and Muhammad are on another level than William Shakespeare or Leonardo da Vinci. Zelkia1101 (talk) 01:16, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Zelkia1101: I recommend that you do whatever you think is best. I have no opinion on whether your proposed changes are better or worse. Interstellarity (talk) 12:02, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

Vital People conversion
Hi. I'm not sure what the exact process is regarding the split of Vital People off from Vital Articles, but its seems that the Cewbot configuration page hasn't been properly updated, thus breaking the bot. Also, I think WP:CWW applies even in Wikipedia space, so the original pages should have been linked to for attribution in the edit summaries of the cut-and-paste page creations. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:50, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Paul 012: and @Interstellarity: out of interest, why was "Vital people" hived off from Vital articles in the first place? That seems a fairly pointless and confusing change, given that biographies are all articles anyway, and it's usually useful to keep things in the same place. Was there a discussion leading to this? Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:59, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- The original discussion appears to be at WT:Vital articles#Splitting the biographies from the main vital articles. It doesn't appear that WP:WikiProject Vital articles had been notified, though. I notice there's a new BRFA for Cewbot, but have all the technical aspects of this (updating templates, etc.) been adequately addressed? --Paul_012 (talk) 11:04, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Paul 012: I found that discussion after posting here. The discussion doesn't seem to have attracted much attention though, for such a major change to the structure of VA, and I'm still not really clear what the rationale was. I think this should be rolled back pending further discussion, and the bot can carry on working as it was before. — Amakuru (talk) 11:08, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Paul 012 and Amakuru:, Interstellarity. I have added WP:Essay to every subsection in Wikipedia:Vital people, let see what will be later (though I would not oppose move it to Wikipedia:talk space or sandbox space). I do not know who decided that Homer (non-historical biograpy) is 300 times more important than Moses, however these lists are just inconsequential drafts by few the same users, this should not have influence anywhere or even on discussion in Vital articles as long as list is purely subjective and is pretty nothing than added trash bytes. I think users will have no problem to continue discussion in normal space Wikipedia:Vital articles which is at least bit less subjective, why not? Cheers. Dawid2009 (talk) 10:17, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- I have reverted the edits. Please see my edit summary for more info. Interstellarity (talk) 23:18, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- Morning Interstellarity and @Dawid2009:, not wishing to get into an edit war or battle, but have restored Dawid's essay tags to the vital people pages - as you're aware, the split of vital articles into vital people and other vital articles has been undone for the time being, and the vital people pages have been left behind without a firm decision on their future. Since they don't enjoy the weight of established process and consensus, as the WP:VA pages do, it seems correct to tag them with "essay", just as information for those reading the pages. My preference would be for them to be moved to either the WikiProject biography space, or to Interstellarity's user space, unless there's a consensus that they are needed in addition to sorting people as part of the VA process. Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 10:29, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
