Re: Idea

I'm sure I could help. :) Have you "signed up" for the Wikiworldcup? I haven't done it before but I signed up to participate in this one.   jj137 20:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, obviously I haven't heard specifics yet, but I like the idea (with one setback). Usually when things like this (or similar to this) get set up, some random editor will come along and put it in MFD saying it's too bureaucratic, if you get the picture. Would it have some kind of set "guidelines" (like the WikiWorldCup does, for example based on number of edits, edit summaries, GAs, FAs, etc. except with admin stuff)?   jj137 20:59, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
For now you could just create a user subpage.   jj137 21:04, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks good so far. Per what I said above about MFD, it shouldn't be just "your personal opinion of who's the best" (because probably lots of people would complain). For the image, yeah, you could just put it in the public domain, GFDL it, or whatever, your choice.   jj137 21:11, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... not sure. The first concern would be getting enough people, and the second would be random sysops running around going "I will destroy any possible signs of bureaucracy", if you see what I mean. (Yes, it can get annoying)   jj137 21:16, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
I think I see what you're getting at. Almost like elections, except it is a "contest"?   jj137 21:23, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
OK, I saw it. Not sure if you're allowed to use the admin mop (see the licensing); it would be nice to see a visual layout of this whole thing (still a little confused, but take your time).   jj137 21:36, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
That looks good. I'm kind of unsure what you mean by "admins have to explain why they deserve the trophy", though.   jj137 21:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
OK, sounds good. Go ahead and set it all up, if you're ready.   jj137 22:47, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

thx

I have the mop but can you search the RFA meeting shown to find the bucket?
Thanks for your support, my request for adminship passed 60/0/0 yesterday!

I want to thank Mrs.EasterBunny and Royalbroil for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. To paraphrase a president ... I wish my mum and dad could see the comments made. My dad would be so proud to see the comments ... and my mum would have believed them". I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and you may be surprised to find that I have not deleted all of the pages by accident..... yet).

Thanks again, Victuallers (talk) 20:51, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I made some copyediting fixes, but other than that, it looks good so far. When you say nominators are allowed to nominate a maximum of two people, is that per month?   jj137 00:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Not sure how to put vertical text, I guess just go to a new line for each letter/word (maybe).   jj137 (talk) 01:28, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks good. It looks like you got it from the RfA page, so you may want to fix some of the text in the "nominate" section. :)   jj137 (talk) 01:36, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
It was the part about "Wikipedia:Requests for Administrator of the Month" -- in the box.   jj137 (talk) 01:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
If you check my recent contribs you'll see everything I did. This isn't going to be too similar to RfA, is it? (You should probably go back and fix everything, you know more about this than I do)   jj137 (talk) 01:56, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Not that I know of. For the questions, I have no idea, but I think the edit stats should at least play some part (but that's my opinion)   jj137 (talk) 02:01, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Wow, really wasn't expecting that :)   jj137 (talk) 02:07, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Ooh, what is it? Don't forget about usurpations! :)   jj137 (talk) 02:10, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Everything that says Ohmpandya will be gone.   jj137 (talk) 02:11, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I mean, in history, your userspace, etc. but not your "old signature" (your current one), links, etc.   jj137 (talk) 02:11, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

That's good. You might not have seen my note above about usurpations, which means you can get a "simple" username (one that's already taken). Just a suggestion, but I like the one you picked. :)   jj137 (talk) 02:16, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

When they rename you, all of your userspace will automatically be renamed to the new username, so User:Ohmpandya will automatically redirect to your new username.   jj137 (talk) 02:22, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar
For adding much-needed pictures to several articles, including Son of the Shark and Anthony Swofford, and for adding references to Marion Military Institute, I, Sharkface217, hereby award you this barnstar. --Sharkface217 02:33, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

The one for Paprika is of the anime movie, not the book. It's the wrong image, dude. --Sharkface217 02:33, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

The article could use a few more major improvements. For example, there needs to be some info about the anime adaptation of the book on the book page. --Sharkface217 02:40, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Scripts

I'm always working on a script that does a find and replace when you click a tab. Just wondering, do you have any suggestions for what it could do?

Also, I'm planning on writing a script for non-admins at WP:RFPP to very easily request pages (and possibly others for WP:UAA, WP:AIV, etc.) (at least for those who don't feel like using Twinkle, actually, it may be faster).

Not really sure why I told you the above, but heck, thought you'd be interested to know. :)   jj137 (talk) 02:56, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

OK, I will. When you mean the <ref here> thing, are you talking about {{fact}}?   jj137 (talk) 03:03, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Aah, as in, they are simply a link, instead of not a ref? I could probably fix that.   jj137 (talk) 03:09, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Ugh, that doesn't look good...   jj137 (talk) 03:15, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Kennedy space center jets.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Signature

How about this:

- Milk's Favorite Cookie

  jj137 (talk) 21:01, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I have an idea, how about placing the sig in a subpage, and placing {{subst:User:Ohmpandya/whatever the subpage name is}} in the signature box.   jj137 (talk) 21:05, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Really, it worked? :) I've always thought of trying that if I had a very long signature, but never actually tried it.   jj137 (talk) 21:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
That's good. I try to keep my signatures simple yet "nice-looking" at the same time.   jj137 (talk) 21:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Hiya. I might be able to help, but I'm relatively busy as-is. You might check out requests for work to be done by a bot. Cheers =) --slakrtalk / 01:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

List

I just moved the link to the bottom of the page. You're #2286!   jj137 (talk) 01:47, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Yep, I don't know where someone finds time for 175,000 or however many edits... it's crazy.   jj137 (talk) 02:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Picture

Hmm... I probably think Edit 1 is better, because I think the extra flower is slightly distracting. But, of course, that's just my opinion.   jj137 (talk) 03:39, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Yes— 160 edits every day?! That's crazy! (and probably about a little more than I'm at sometimes :))   jj137 (talk) 03:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
:) My highest was 600-- I was going crazy that day.   jj137 (talk) 03:46, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

AOTM

Right now I'm unsure what to do. Some admins don't like to get messages from random users (I know from personal experience).   jj137 (talk) 03:49, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Still not sure. You could create a shortcut at WP:AOTM if you wanted.   jj137 (talk) 22:19, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
If you create a subpage of the AOTM page with a specifically designed template (for the nominations), I can set it up (the preload).   jj137 (talk) 22:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
OK, go check out what happens when you click on the nominate button.   jj137 (talk) 22:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... as of right now, I can't figure out how the WikiWorldCup got so many people, actually.   jj137 (talk) 23:05, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Remdoggg.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Remdoggg.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:27, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

The heard on the news (I think it was the Boston Globe that reported it) that he would still be able to play in the Super Bowl.   jj137 (talk) 22:04, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

It is. About the edit count: 3000! I forgot about that. :) My high without using AWB at all is I think around 400-450.   jj137 (talk) 22:07, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
I've done that before; usually when I'm editing (regular or AWB) I'm watching ESPN, ESPN2 or whatever sports game is on.   jj137 (talk) 22:16, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Added message above --  jj137 (talk) 22:19, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that's annoying. I'll usually just check/glance at least every other edit or every few edits to make sure nothing wrong happened.   jj137 (talk) 22:20, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I invited about 100 Red Sox fans one day. :)   jj137 (talk) 23:08, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

AOTM

The template looks good. Just curious, who are you planning on inviting?   jj137 (talk) 02:14, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure, I think just about every admin is good.   jj137 (talk) 02:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Well, that's the tough part– just about every admin is fairly–very active, and a lot of which may be difficult to differentiate.   jj137 (talk) 02:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, he's good. Again, the thing is, what if we find out there's another admin we didn't "invite" that has better edit stats, or something like that? This is a challenging situation.   jj137 (talk) 02:31, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Sure. Still unsure about the whole "go out and invite the best admins" part though...   jj137 (talk) 02:44, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't know... that's the tough part. Do you think we should just take a rest from this whole thing for a few days? (don't worry, I'll still be thinking/searching)   jj137 (talk) 03:04, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
What's Quickedit?   jj137 (talk) 03:07, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Quick edit

What does it do? (sorry for being so inquisitive, but my monobook is insanely crowded as is, and bugs up if I try to change it)   jj137 (talk) 03:11, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Aah, yes, I remember now! I tried it a few months ago, I remember, but couldn't get it to work. I can always give it another try.   jj137 (talk) 03:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

DYK Boxes

Can you please explain to me how you make these work? I have tried but so far I have been unsuccesful.

Cheers,

2 things

I know, I've created probably a thousand of them, and so has a few other people. About your monobook, that's just a bug; when you get a ton of stuff, sometimes you have to bypass your cache several times to make it work properly.   jj137 (talk) 22:28, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem. :)   jj137 (talk) 22:33, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Akai Rice, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Wikiproject Boston Celtics

I just joined yesterday and think that the project should have a sidebar and header like the one of WP:BOSOX. Should I create a template? STORMTRACKER 94 02:08, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Done. Also had to create a few pages in the process... the template is on all of the project pages. STORMTRACKER 94 02:41, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Sure, the article looks like FA-quality to me. STORMTRACKER 94 02:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Prod

Just expand the article and remove the tag, and it will be fine.   jj137 (talk) 02:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, it says on the tag if you object to its deletion you can remove the tag, so if that's necessary, then you should. You should probably talk to the guy about it, maybe.   jj137 (talk) 02:14, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Possibly... the guy was wrong when he says there were no refs to establish notability; there clearly is one, unless I can't see properly.   jj137 (talk) 02:17, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I left him a message...   jj137 (talk) 02:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Still mostly just a review by someone though... about the 12,000 edits: now I'm concerned whether or not running March 15 (or so) is the best idea. Lately, I've seen some RfAs get several opposes because they are basically in almost the same situation (a couple people waited three months and people still said it was too short of a time). :(   jj137 (talk) 02:37, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA

That is pretty good. We will just have to wait and see, and I think all of that really helps.   jj137 (talk) 02:42, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Signature

Could you please make your signature smaller and use more simpler wikicode? At the moment, Milk's Favorite Cookie accounts for 335 characters. This is a bit too much, in my opinion. Thanks, Nishkid64 (talk) 03:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

It is also substantially larger than its surrounding text, which is advised against. I strongly suggest you modify it. Spebi 05:59, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that's better. Thanks. Spebi 22:22, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Mick Cooke

Hi,

I know the more you delete others work the more likely you will climb the latter to adminship here, but maybe you should have used some common sense when deleting Mick Cooke. He is the manager of Monaghan United FC and there are several sources to verify the claim. As I argued on Finbar Prunty, if you delete him there will be thousands of small league managers and players to delete. At least be consistent. Here are the sources that 'verify' his existence.

http://www.monaghanunited.ie/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=111&Itemid=93 http://www.northernsound.ie/sNews14/sport/mick_cooke_stays_on_as_mons_manager/ http://www.eircomloi.ie:82/the-people/the-managers/first-division/mick-cooke/ http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2007/1130/monaghan.html

Just reinsert what you deleted, OK? Iloveamerica2much (talk) 13:08, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Well yeah....I can't delete articles so you got the wrong guy! Besides the article has not been deleted. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 14:49, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I notice you recently created this article. Assuming that it's a proper name, shouldn't the last name be capitalized as well?--172.168.50.11 (talk) 23:26, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Is this a joke? I've seen that you write great articles, but this is quite weird. Basketballoneten 23:27, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Nothing is (or wasn't when I was patrolling) cited, there are no internal links, and "peacocks" isn't "Peacocks". Basketballoneten 23:30, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Looks okay now, but it needs citations. Basketballoneten 23:33, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Re:Celtics

Just checked their website. They lost.   jj137 (talk) 01:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Do you happen to be watching the Dallas-Denver game right now?   jj137 (talk) 01:25, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, just wondering. Allen Iverson (a few minutes ago) just made this crazy shot (it will probably be on Top 10 tomorrow...)   jj137 (talk) 01:30, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
He just made a fade-away shot around the three point line when he was fouled. On FPC, my best guess would be only admins/very experienced and neutral non-admins can make the final decision.   jj137 (talk) 01:35, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't know, you could probably ask someone who regularly closes them (MER-C, I think)   jj137 (talk) 01:39, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Re: Your Question on FP

I was kidding!! I really don't care (though I would like another green box to garnish my talk page.. ;-) Let's say DMCer 04:11, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I wonder what would happen if I ask for one too...DMCer 04:22, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
