I responded. Sorry for the delay. BTW, I'm at WP:RWP! Shapiros10 contact meMy work 13:05, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
I've never seen RWP before. Had no idea it existed... and I'm not sure wtf it's for. >_> But good times. Enjoy yourself. LaraLove|Talk 18:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
I made a checklist. Shapiros10 contact meMy work 15:00, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Okay, so check it. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not working on this article anymore. I made it a good article last year and that's as far as I'm taking it. I don't have the patience to work in an environment where no progressive discussion is possible. Where policy is thrown around by people ignoring it. I could drop WP:SELFPUB and ask the same questions until my laptop implodes, but it's just not worth it. I took Maynard James Keenan to FA with the help of the Tool Wikiproject and did so with a great deal of inspiration from the band and their music. I'm not a Fall Out Boy fan. I lack the inspiration to fight to get their article featured.

If you want to work on another article together, I'm all about it, but it's not going to be on a band with mislabeled genres. I don't have the patience for it. I focus too much on the tiny things, which is great for FA, but makes it impossible for articles like FOB, because there's no way in hell I'm going to write a paragraph about what emo has become in the 00s and how pop-punk FOB has been labeled emo, while leaving emo in the infobox. It's pointless. And it doesn't matter. These are the tiny things that bother me, and the reasons I'm not working on that article. It has potential, so if you want to go for it, by all means, good luck. LaraLove|Talk 19:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to disturb you Lara, I was redirected to you by Iridescent. Could you please take a look at a report I filed at ANI 21 hours ago that has gone unanswered by any admin, see here. This is getting a little urgent now, the IP involved has changed to a slighlty different IP (despite using the same one for weeks) and is trying to get editors to agree with him in a dispute. This IP is alledging that I have a pro MJ / anti Lisa bias as an excuse. Far from it infact. I have a large amount of respect for Lisa Marie Presley, she saved Jackson's life, literally. I'm not biased at all, I've nearly got the MJ article to FA so I can write impartially on the issue. Please can you help on this. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 23:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for responding to that, I'm glad someone could help me - 22 hours later but still.... :-). Lol I really think we need more admins. I will keep you posted if there are any further developments. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 02:44, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Not a problem. I'm more an admin by request at this point. So just let me know if you need something. LaraLove|Talk 02:59, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
R2, we don't need more admins, we need less users. It would make everyone's life much easier. I like to think that I've played my part in this noble endeavour.
Seeing as I'm here... Lara, where on earth did you get a Wikipedia t-shirt? And why? – iridescent 15:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Hahaha. For the first part, much would be solved by locking down Wikipedia to read only for those who aren't registered, and use of non-free email only for all registration, including current accounts, with the option to use free email for actual use, i.e register with your domain or ISP, but communicate with Gmail. That said, I got my shirt on the official WP store on CafePress.com. Why? Either that 16-year-old fashion sense of mine, or because I love message tees and, as my #1 hobby, WP was an appropriate message for me to spread. :) LaraLove|Talk 18:06, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
I think everyone knows my opinions on the problems with WP, but just in case you missed them, here they are, from a talkpage with which R2 may be somewhat familiar. (Re-reading it, I'm quite proud of that foul-tempered rant; maybe I ought to give it a WP:ALLCAPS title...) And congratulations to Lara for possibly being the only person on the planet who could actually look good in a WP t-shirt. – iridescent 18:23, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
That was almost tldr, but I trusted you enough to assume it was good reading... and I was pleased to find it was. Very nice, and very true. I agree with you on pretty much every point. To expand on my desire to see WP locked down to read only for non-registered, I realize that this may affect donations, as it would no longer be the most edited site (considering that one vandal edit typically ends up being three; vandalize, revert, warn), but I just don't give a shit if that means someone won't be able to take that first class flight to wherever, buy that $50 bottle of wine with the $130 meal before hitting the street for a couple of high priced hookers. I'm not crying alligator tears over a drop in donations. If they don't fix the problems with Wikipedia soon, it's going to start deteriorating to an obvious degree to the public. Then what will donators be thinking? LaraLove|Talk 19:04, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
You're being much too kind to the Cabal; it was a $1200 dinner with two $250 bottles of wine. Realist, welcome to Wikipedia. – iridescent 19:18, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

← You know what? I knew it was more, but I couldn't recall the exact numbers and I didn't care to go find the details, so I figured it better to underplay rather than overplay, as the latter may have made it seem as though I was being facetious. And now that I've been reminded of the actual numbers, they seem unrealistic... that's how bad it is. And that why I couldn't give a shit if donations drop in order to make positive changes to the project. But it appears that the project isn't the most important thing to some people >_> anymore. It's all about that money. LaraLove|Talk 19:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Fall Out Boy

You appear to have made several uncontructive edits to this page such as removing content. Please remember to discuss all controversial edits on the talk page. --neon white talk 04:55, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

I'd expect an established editor and a) to be civil when conversing with other editors and b) not to make controversial changes such as removing cited content based on personal views. As you probably now that is not how wikipedia works. --neon white talk 05:03, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Emo is not disputed, it is cited by multiple verifiable sources. MSN, NME, Rolling Stone etc. The band's opinion is not relevant as they are not a reliable source. Your personal view of whether it 'fits' is not important. Wikipedia is based on what verifiable sources say, what individual editor's believe is not important. If emo has developed a broader definition then that's just what it is now. It's not for us to argue. Removing content because of a personal objection is not good editing and may be seen as disruptive. --neon white talk 05:22, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
The band is not a reliable source and should be disregarded completely as has been done with every other article. Wikipedia is based only on second and third party sources with a reputation, in this case rolling stone and msn etc are the best sources to use. Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability carefully. There is no evidence of any dispute that i can find. Bands dont own the rights to their music, their record label does. If you have sources for genres then as far as wikipedia is concerned they are 'right' and the infobox can contain multiple genres as most bands cross genre boundaries and genres and largely subjective anyway, that's is why we rely on sources that have a reputation. --neon white talk 05:34, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
It's necessary at this stage to warn you about edit warring and the three revert rule. If you want to discuss it then do but dont get blocked by continually reverting the page. --neon white talk 05:38, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Removal of genre

Hi Lara. Do you think we can re-apply the music genre to the Fall Out Boy infobox? Reply on my talk page please. Caden S (talk) 14:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi Lara. I'm interested in getting Carmelo Anthony promoted to GA status. Besides the trivia section, what else can I do to improve the article? Thanks. Chengwes (talk) 16:13, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

I'll look over this tonight. LaraLove|Talk 19:17, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay, cursory review. The references need to be consistently formatted. See WP:CIT. You don't have to use template, but they need to have the same end result. Full dates should have the years wikilinked. There are some inconsistencies in the Charity section with formatting. Personal life section needs to be condensed into larger paragraphs and the prose improved to create a good flow. I think there could be an increase in wikilinked. Things like US$, for example.
I'll look over it again later, and do a bit of work myself, most likely. But this was from a quick glance over it. LaraLove|Talk 18:40, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Great, thanks. Any help is greatly appreciated. Chengwes (talk) 03:56, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Barnstar for helping with Carmelo Anthony.
Thanks. :) LaraLove|Talk 13:19, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
OK - we've added even more references in. What else can I do to improve this to GA level? Chengwes (talk) 19:54, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism

Is this Grawp behavior? Shapiros10 contact meMy work 22:41, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Grawp is a pagemove vandal. That's just vandalism. —Giggy 02:35, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Hahaha. That's 4chan stuff. LaraLove|Talk 04:41, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
No, I've seen Grawp do that. The pumpkin, the "lolwut". Grawp does that when the page is move-protected. Could you block the IP? Shapiros10 contact meMy work 13:00, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Jumping in - Grawp does this to his own IP pages (the only pages he can edit) to try to get editors to block him for 24hrs (which then lifts the hardblock when it expires). Lara's definitely right, that's undoubtedly /b/ not Grawp. – ırıdescent 13:29, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
(I ECed and didn't realize it for like an hour and 15 or something... hahaah) The page isn't move protected and Grawp isn't in Canada. It's not Grawp. I could block the IP, but it seems sort of pointless. We only block them for a couple days or so... and it's been like a day or so since his only edit. LaraLove|Talk 14:49, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Grawp manipulates his IP. And what if it happens again? Shapiros10 contact meMy work 15:18, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Dude. It's not Grawp. Get off it. It doesn't matter. If it happens again, we'll revert. And trust, it will happen again. Just not by that IP, most likely. I mean, srsly. If it were Grawp, which it's not, he'd just change his IP. He works off a proxy. Anyway, it's a /b/tard. Stop arguing about it. LaraLove|Talk 15:25, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi again, there is a new edit war (not as serious) regarding the article. You can view this in the article history, my talk page and the IP'S talk page. I have already threatened to report the IP for 3RR if he continues this. I said I wouldn't get you involved but apparently he's going to message you anyway. I respect your view on this. As for as I'm concerned the material should stay in the article, it was a major event within their marriage. I have sourced it and added some context to how it is relevant. Common tactics for this IP are: Revert edit war to "get my attention" and remove material because "it shouldn't go in this section", then when you put it elsewhere "oh it shouldn't go there either". Hmm. Cheers. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 16:23, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi can you take a look at LMP Realist2 added a section about LMP appearing nude in a video under marriage and divorce. It was under her music career early (which it had nothing do do with) now it is explained as important because it was a rare time they shared public affection - Hello can anyone say the MTV music award kiss- I have seen your edits before and you seem fair minded. Maybe you can explain the relevants of it being added here. I have seen this article in the past become more of a trivia section for the Michael Jackson story. I know he needs to be included. But a rare show of affection?72.225.239.152 (talk) 20:36, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
I know your probably busy, but since you haven't replied to this message things have only got worse. The photo guy has come back adding more pictures that clearly aren't his and deleting text that you viewed as ok on the talk page. He seems to thing as well that books aren't good sources. Would you please take another look at this, consider semi protecting the page or something. Some are ust being disruptive now and I'm getting quite tired of being accused of all sorts. If you don't have time or don't want to get involved that's fine but could you please let be know and I can take it to ANI again. Sorry that this has already taken up your time. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 07:31, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
I'll look into it. LaraLove|Talk 12:13, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanx for going into it again, the editors commons account has been blocked. It still won't stop him removing sourced material that you yourself said was fine to include. Its quite funny really, these editors are complaining that there is too much details on Mr. Jackson. No, thats incorrect. There is the correct about of info about MJ, one large paragraph. Its the other sections of the article that need expanding. The article is too small. If they expanded the other sections the MJ stuff wouldn't seem so overbearing. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 13:33, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Talk page of User:Rubbersoul20

Hi, Lara. The talk page of User:Rubbersoul20 seems to be protected, but I can't find any explanation of why. This prevented me from giving him a notice about an AfD on an article to which he contributed. He hasn't edited for 4 months, and he seems to use the talk page as a sandbox; but no matter, the page should be unprotected anyway, right? Can you unprotect it? Thanks, --Anna Lincoln (talk) 11:22, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

The reason it was protected is because he was removing the reviewed section from the unblock request whilst still being blocked. Which if you check the log its says: abuse of unblock template. Also, you mean the talk page, not the userpage. ^_^ — MaggotSyn 11:37, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Neil probably didn't realize the page was protected when he unblocked. I've unprotected it. LaraLove|Talk 13:17, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Re: Hi

heh when I saw your post, I thought it really was someone complaining about that... then I saw your sig. Yeah, no prob. I do really like your design and your idea with the date thing is pretty cool. Good luck with it! Thingg 05:04, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I saw that too, but as far as I know, the only way to fix it would be to modify {{Did you know}} to make it the correct height. (and I obviously can't do that because it would mess up the current Main Page and I'm not an admin so I can't edit it anyway...) However, if your design is selected (and imo, it's definitely in the top three), there would be no issues with modifying the template to correct this problem. btw, if you really "don't really know code that well," then I have to say I'm very impressed with your design. Very impressed. I know a little about programming (see my userpage), but that's a waaay better Main Page then I'd ever be able to design... I'll look at your design tomorrow and see if I can come up with a way to correct the problem without having to edit the other templates, but right now, I really have to get to bed. It's 1:20am where I live... Thingg 05:22, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
