I'm back

To any of my talk page stalkers, I'm finally back. Sorry if any project had been held up because of my absence. I had been through shit these past few months, losing a very dear one in family and job change. But here's to a better horizon ahead. I will slowly take stock of all things around here and would love to hear from you guys what's been going on. —IB [ Poke ] 12:00, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Yeahhh! Great job guys I saw the notification above :D —IB [ Poke ] 12:29, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

I do stalk your talk page, and my condolences on your loss and I'm very sorry you've had such a hard time of it recently. Does the job change mean you are no longer based in Brighton? Richard3120 (talk) 19:46, 25 February 2018 (UTC)

Hey Krimuk, of course I remember you! Hope there are more FA articles from you sorry to hear about the passing of Sridevi. And Richard3120, no I am still based in Brighton but have to go to work in a place called Burgess Hill. You know the place? —IB [ Poke ] 04:00, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
A little – I'm from the London/Essex suburbs, but I have several friends in Brighton who I used to visit, and my uncle and aunt used to live in Copthorne, just outside Crawley. So I know the area a bit. Richard3120 (talk) 15:29, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

I am sorry to hear about your loss, but welcome back to Wikipedia. ---Another Believer (Talk) 04:20, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

Welcome back to Wikipedia, IB. Was curious to see what held up The Fame Monster, was looking forward to seeing a DGA relisted, and am happy it is now. Saw you pop up in my watchlist for that article, and I was surprised as I had remembered you hadn't edited since Christmas. Now it makes sense. Deepest condolences. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 16:36, 26 February 2018 (UTC)

AllMusic

Hello, you recently reverted my edit on the page Like a Prayer (album) because I cited AllMusic as a source; I knew that only the sidebar couldn't be considered a reliable source, in the review Stephen Thomas Erlewine says: "the kaleidoscopic variety of pop styles on Like a Prayer is quite dazzling" Ikcir (talk) 20:55, 17 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Ikcir, that line does not specifically call Like a Prayer a pop album though. It talks about the different styles incorporated in the music. Since its open to interpretation we cannot use it as a concrete verifiable line to source as Pop. 05:12, 18 March 2018 (UTC)

Covers of Madonna

How is unreliable when you open the page and you see the VIDEO OF HIM performing BOTH of the songs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnny Gnecco (talkcontribs) 16:31, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

A video does not make a cover version notable. It has to pass WP:SONGCOVER wherein third party reliable sources verify it. —IB [ Poke ] 16:42, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
I just posted an updated Billboard article and you deleted it again. Don't tell me Billboard isn't reliable Johnny Gnecco (talk) 16:45, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi Johnny Gnecco, did you read WP:SONGCOVER? And where in that Billboard link does it critically analyze or talk about the performance? It just embeds a video without even giving it a second thought. Exact reasons why it fails SONGCOVER. —IB [ Poke ] 16:51, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Following Cooper's personal tribute, rising British singer-songwriter Labrinth took the stage for a stirring medley of Madonna's Ray of Light ballad "Frozen" and her immortal "Like A Prayer." Naturally, a choir was brought onstage to recreate the church-meets-pop anthem ecstasy of "Like a Prayer."Johnny Gnecco (talk) 17:06, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
I have self-reverted my addition. Strangely when I had searched the first time it just showed me the embedded video. —IB [ Poke ] 17:23, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Don't Tell Me

Hello IndianBio, when you have time, could you perhaps help me with my first try, as is one of my most favorite songs. I wanted your advice on whether or not the draft is correct, and more importantly your help regarding some sections such as The background, composition and the commercial response/charts, as I still don't know how the source on the chart template work, some of the sources on my page don't even show up on the section. Feel free to edit or change what you feel necessary; any comment/critic will be gladly received :) thank you and nice to have u back--Chrishm21 (talk) 15:13, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling

I truly believed your ASCAP link mistakenly credited the "Don't Wanna Lose This Groove" version, not the original one.

You can check this Allmusic link, one of the pages in the album's booklet and the back of the CD single.

Beyoncetan 2 (talk) 20:46, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

It does not matter. ASCAP decides where the royalties for the music are given and to whom. So if they have listed Madonna and Bray later, that means that they now receive the royalty for this song. The album booklet does not reflect the changed information of course. —IB [ Poke ] 04:05, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Gaga images upload

Hi indianBio how are you? I have a question, regarding the single covers for Gaga and Christina Aguilera tracks; what criteria do they exactly fail? I've noticed some users are saying they have been "touched up", which is not true. They're PNG files, which are sharper and clearer than the JPG ones. I hope you can kindly help me understand this. Thank you!!--Chrishm21 (talk) 10:41, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

They do look a bit too sharp even in the png versions. —IB [ Poke ] 17:00, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

"Causing a Commotion" got stuck behind two songs on Hot 100

IndianBio, plenty of other articles here about songs that could only reach #2 on a particular record chart would give a mention to the single that that #2 song got stuck behind, or the single that prevented the #2 song from reaching the top spot. On the article for "Causing a Commotion", only one of the singles that the Madonna song finished behind on the Hot 100 ("Bad" by Michael Jackson) is mentioned, yet apparently, you do not want the other song that "Causing a Commotion" got stuck behind (the Tiffany Darwish version of "I Think We're Alone Now") to be mentioned in the article. I first inserted the info in November 2017, but you reverted it a short while afterwards. This month, I re-inserted the info (accompanied with a citation this time), but you reverted it again immediately. Why did you remove the info on "I Think We're Alone Now"? The articles for all of Madonna's other number-two pop singles, including "Material Girl" and "Ray of Light", mentioned the songs that kept them from going to #1. I already explained "I Think We're Alone Now" replacing "Bad" at the Hot 100's top spot on the talk page for the "Causing a Commotion" article. In fact, the third and last week that "Causing a Commotion" was at #2, "Bad" slipped to position #5. Jim856796 (talk) 03:13, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

I have explained in my edit summary here, how is giving the extra three songs super relevant? There are plenty of songs which never reach number-one and remain in 1st runner up position for many weeks. Your addition is going on borderline WP:UNDUE wherein those articles would also keep on adding songs for every week a track did not reach number one. WP:CHARTTRAJ strictly discourages such additions like that. —IB [ Poke ] 06:37, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
If that's true, then I think the part about "Causing a Commotion" remaining at #2 for three weeks may have to be completely re-written in order to mention both of the songs that it finished behind. I just don't think we can mention just one of them; either mention both #1 songs in the article, or don't mention either song. To try to answer to your "How is it relevant?" question: "Bad" was not the only song that kept "Causing a Commotion" from #1. The articles on the Laura Branigan song "Gloria" and the Journey song "Open Arms" mentions both of the #1 singles that those song finished behind on the Hot 100. Is that not a good enough answer for you? If not, then we can always ask for a WP:Third Opinion from a different user... Jim856796 (talk) 07:00, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
