Reverts of Carnivàle

[edit]
  • Hey Shane. You recently reverted some editing I did on the Carnivàle article. Mostly I was just trying to make it easier to understand and I don't think I left out any of the article that was there before - it was just rearranged. I didn't see a reasoning on the talk page and was just curious what was wrong with my edits.--Torourkeus 20:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • thanks. I put it back, and i also (in a seperate and still revertable edit) fixed a section that i believe you commented as being hard to understand. I totally revamped this one and wouldn't mind your opinion on the matter.--Torourkeus 00:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, everyone who is an admin, and has email activiated, has received emails about this very deletion, and the user who sent the emails has been blocked. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 20:33, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings

[edit]

I am one of the people Zereshk sent message to regarding the vote. I understand that was against the rules and you did what you had to do. But IMHO i think the reason Zereshk was trying so hard to keep that article from deletion, was that the article proves or tries to prove that Iranians(not the government) are not the monsters many people think they are. On another subject i would appreciate it if you didn't call me(according to your post about the people zereshk sent messages to) a groupie lol, thanks  :). Best regards --Spahbod 05:28, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi...was hoping you noticed Jersey Devil's very excellent reply at the bottom of his nomination page regarding the edit you had a particular question about. I think he did a very good job trying to address your concerns and hope that you might have a minute to read over his comments. Thanks.--MONGO 06:30, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah...WTF?

[edit]

Seriously...somebody here has issues, and I don't know if it's you or me...

I have checked your contribs etc, and I really feel you should reconsider the fact that you decided to donate so much time and efforts to wikipedia. There are certainly better things to do in your life. Do me a favour and try to think how nice it would be if you were out with your friends right now. Azmoc 22:40, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aminz block

[edit]

Hi InShaneee,

First, I'm appreciative of your ongoing efforts to keep Wikipedia free of personal attacks and harassment. As an editor who's been practically driven from Wikipedia by these phenomenon, I can only ask that WP will get more admins like you in this regard.

However, Aminz has been unfairly caught on the business end of this Zereshk business. Perhaps he shouldn't have been sympathizing with or defending him, but Aminz is a lawful and good-faith editor who doesn't make personal attacks, or harass anyone. Cyde has blocked him. This is completely uncalled for and unnecessary.Timothy Usher 06:46, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

per Neuropean, re Robertsteadman

[edit]

(this is being sent to Shane, Dan, and Ann as the three who Neuropean contacted with his request as well as Tony)

Assuming you read what Neuropean wrote, do you have any consideration of giving Robert another last chance? I have my own feelings on the matter, but want more feedback. Please reply here, or on my talk page, or email me. Syrthiss 12:05, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is Spam

[edit]

Hi

Whould you please describe for me what spam is? If you notice my messages there aren't the same. So I think it van't be spam. As I know spam is a one message which copied in too many people talk page and the massage should exactly the same.--Sa.vakilian 03:11, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No hard feelings

[edit]

InShaneee, I don't have any hard feelings towards you. I hope you also don't have any towards me. Thanks --Aminz 22:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bionicle revert

[edit]

Hello Shane,

Why did you revert my edit to Bionicle? It's not a "status update", as you call it, I just think people should know that there's no point in going to that website right now. Is there some policy against this that I am not aware of? --TorriTorri 00:06, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Bharatveer is the latest of several users who’ve made a sport of attacking User:Dbachmann as an anti-Hindu zealot, see this thread. There is basically no way for dab to deal with these editors; they ask for nothing, and offer him no out, but only attack.Timothy Usher 10:22, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Usher is known to harrass other users. [1] . He also makes a point of attacking Hindu users on wiki. I don't know if Bharatveer is till blocked but I saw this on his talk page. Dab uses IP accounts to create a sense of consensus [2] and make personal attacks. I just wanted you to have twwo sides of the discussion. Bakaman Bakatalk 22:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would advise him to look at WP:NPA (Bharatveer).Bakaman Bakatalk 23:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personal attacks

[edit]

Dear Inshaneee,

I would like to draw your attention towards continuous personal attacks by User:Adkagansu, such as these: [3], [4]. He has vandalized my talk page before, and now has resorted to personal attacks. I believe that kind of behaviour is unacceptable on Wikipedia.--TigranTheGreat 21:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for blocking him, he was being a jerk to me too. --Awiseman 17:31, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know it's temporary, and that's what he was. How about "unpleasant and unreasonable"? --Awiseman 19:50, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up, the editor who brought it up thinks you abused your admin powers to delete the article. Not sure if you think it's worth you while to respond but if it is you might want to add a few words of clarification. ~ trialsanderrors 23:55, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmm?

[edit]

You reverted me here, and I was just wondering why. Mind you, I'm not a grammar freak, so I dunno if a semicolon really belonged there. I just thought the sentance seemed a bit long and wordy. ;) --172.196.165.7 19:37, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

DID YOU IGNORE MY GODDAMN CONTRIBUTIONS??? I made that comment, you want to know why? Jewfros is extremely deragatory, why do you call them jewfros, because a jewish person has the fro..it was originally called afro, there was NO PROOF for something called a jewfro meaning that is original thinking, I will report you to an admin for harassment, no proof=not wiki worthy.--Jerluvsthecubs 20:10, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Main" article link

[edit]

Hi Shane, just wanted to get your opinion on something. An editor copied and pasted a section word-for-word from one article into another. Is that the right way to do it, or should the editor write something new that applies to the specific article? Here is the section of copied text in question: Wizard_(fantasy)#Wise_Old_Man - the text is copied directly from the referenced article. I wrote a shorter blurb that referenced the same article,[5] but it was reverted by the other editor. Thanks! Dreadlocke 00:19, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WillC Block

[edit]

Just wondering if WillC's block has run. 4 days have elapsed, but the template is still on his page. I had never heard of him before that absurd spat on WP:ANI over two sentences of Job (professional wrestling) but since then was trying to steer him back toward reasonableness and hope your action here will turn out to have been helpful. I will add that from what I've seen, your having elicited any sort of an admission of fault on his part was an accomplishment :) Newyorkbrad 00:48, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ARGH! Please unblock

[edit]

Ok...This is absolutely insane. I've been blocked 3 times today because of my IP address, and when I get one cleared, I just get blocked again because some trojans use my IP. I was just uncleared by Antandrus literally about 3 seconds ago, only to be blocked again. Please can you fix this, or talk to antandrus, as I would greatly appreciate it.

List of Bionicle Toys - Winter 2007

[edit]

Hi, InShaneee. I know you keep an eye on at least the main Bionicle article; something has come up in a related article and I was wondering what the appropriate course of action is.

The article in question is a List of Bionicle toys, and names of upcoming sets for 2007 have been leaked. As I understand it, these names have been found on Amazon.de but that's it. While this information might be accurate, I believe these names should stay off the list until some more solid information is released; for example, an official press release (in English). However, a user named PurpleDORK was offended when I deleted the leaked names from the article; on my Talk page he accused me of censoring information for Lego or BZPower and declared his intention to continue re-posting the list if I should take it down again.

I would personally like to see the toy list locked from editing (as even if PurpleDORK doesn't post the information, someone else will try) and PurpleDORK disciplined somehow, but I'm not sure what is appropriate and I don't have the power to do so anyway. Could you help? Drakhan 18:02, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Data constantly being deleted.

[edit]

Hi, on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bionicle_toys you asked me to talk to the other editors. I'm pretty sure I've already done that, however they have not replied. This is the issue. An Amazon site in Denmark always gets Lego set names added to their database (as Lego is based in Denmark), a few times a year. These set names inevitably end up as the actual set names when the release becomes official. The problem I'm having is that the Lego company as well as a site called BZPower are sworn to not letting this data out before Lego wants it to. But it is out there, and it is, as always, accurate.

Even more, my edit is added at the very end, not even marring anyone's work before it. I believe this data is being removed by a company, or someone close to it, and I doubt you would consider that kind of censorship to be a healthy thing for a site such as Wiki, correct? --PurpleDORK 02:48, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Issue seems to have worked itself out. Main editor has responded and given his explanation, while not deleting my input. --PurpleDORK 12:32, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I take it back. It's gone again because he doesn't want to make a Lego rep angry. So much for wiki being the source people go to for information unbiased by corporate influence. --PurpleDORK 14:54, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Impostors

[edit]

My god, you've got a lot of impersonators. (I thought this account was one!) Just thought I'd throw that out there.

If you can think of any more creative variations of your user name, some preemptive action might be good (although you probably already know about that page.) Grandmasterka 21:20, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I guess you only have two that we know about so far; see Category:Imposters of InShaneee. Try different capitalizations, number of "e"s, etc., and make doppelganger accounts if you can. I made several of them long ago, so I'm not likely to be impersonated. You are an easier target, but at least you don't have "I" or "l" in the middle of your username. ;-) Grandmasterka 08:35, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Channel 101

[edit]

Why did you revert my edits on Channel 101? --Schmendrick 21:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We cannot list every show that has aired on Channel 101, and there is nothing noteworthy about Chad Vader. --InShaneee 21:33, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
You call making it on the front page of the Wall Street Journal "nothing noteworthy"??[6] --Schmendrick 21:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unless you have something more than their say-so to back up that claim, yes. --InShaneee 22:03, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
How's this?[7]--Schmendrick 22:07, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, based on your non-response, I assume you don't have an objection to me restoring my edit, so I will do so. --Schmendrick 13:14, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OKAY, you reverted AGAIN without giving a reason. I provided you with the direct link to the Wall Street Journal online with Chad Vader on the front page. You didn't respond, so I restored the revert. Rather than tell me WHY that's not good enough for you, you simply reverted AGAIN. This is entirely disrespectful, and it makes people not want to contribute to Wikipedia anymore because of inconsiderate administrators. Please TELL me why you reverted again. --Schmendrick 14:27, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Juro

[edit]

After 10 minutes of your warning he wrote on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Slovakization:

"And I am leaving out "personal attacks", although you are an obvious fascist (which is a fact)."

Personally I think the Slovakization article shows signs of disruptive behaviour. Zello 15:37, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He refered to the fact that your friend or/your sock alias Arpad used proven socks. And also Khoikhoi used 2 socks, see talk page.--202.54.242.186 15:46, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody proved that I have any sockpuppets. I don't know anything about Arpad but until he is not banned from editing wikipedia I think the civility rule is applied to him also. Zello 15:58, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What do you wait to Inshanee? Why don't you do it untill the end. Request a ChechUser on User:Àrpàd and User:Alphysikist

I'm not interested in checkuser, Bonaparte, but civility. Zello 17:14, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear InShaneee, I am afraid you are overreacting in this case. Juro's uncivil behavior should be understood in the broader context of the uncivil discussions over many articles concerning Hungary an its neighbors. Árpád (accused by Juro to be a fascist) used a dynamic IP before creating his user account. He used to blank [8] entire relevant paragraphs if they were not in line with his nationalist POV and he liked changing official geographic names in the articles into their Hungarian versions [9]. I have reverted many of his edits. I would not call him a fascist, but it is true that he often presents arguments of the Hungarian fascist movement. Several of his comments have been very offensive to non-Hungarian nationalities living in Central Europe and the Balkans. Of course, this does not excuse Juro's behavior. However, I hope you will understand better how difficult it is to remain civil if you have to deal with all sorts of nationalist vandals pushing their POV in dozens of articles. Since I am particularly active in editing articles about Slovakia and I observe these petty fights, I can understand why Juro, one of the most prolific editors in the region, behaved in this way. Although I am sure you have blocked Juro in good faith, I hope you will reconsider your campaign against Juro. Tankred 23:06, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The two cases you mentioned were normal content disputes where most Hungarian users agreed with Árpád. Of course this is not the place to present arguments and probably not the right moment because Hu-Sl relations touched the bottom in wikipedia. Accidentally last time Juro was blocked because of personal attacks against me, not Árpád. I got my share of his labels also. Zello 11:59, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not support any uncivil behavior and I certainly do not agree with the personal attacks against Zello. Perhaps I am wrong, but I really do believe that Árpád has used sockpuppets (User:HunTomy and various IPs) and pushed extreme nationalist POV (including explicit denials that Slovakia or Slovaks have any history before 1993 and rude offenses of other non-Hungarian nationalities) on several occasions. That is why Juro's accusations were not completely unfounded in my opinion. Anyway, it is a pity that Wikipedia became a battlefield. Articles are becoming quite biased because they tend to underscore differences and conflicts and disregard commonalities between the nations of Central Europe. I think it is ridiculous to launch an edit war over whether the list of alternative names of a lake would start with the Hungarian or German name. I hope we will return to our normal work on improving quality of Wikipedia soon. Tankred 13:39, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think Árpád is a nationalist user, and other Hungarians kept a distance from him many times. But sometimes he can also have good arguments, and the "fascist" label only makes things worse. I don't know the truth behind the sockpuppet accustations. In the present edit war I noticed "strange" new users on the Hungarian side but probably some of them are real newcomers and others are not. I think a real newcomer will be quite surprised seeing that he is immediately called "sockpuppet of a fascist vandal" after two or three good-faith contributions. There is a high possibility that after that he leaves wikipedia noticing how harsh is this environment. Zello 14:23, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IRC?

[edit]

Hi, Shane, would you be agreeable to having a chat on #wikipedia some time? Sometimes it's easier to talk in real time. I'm there most of the time--no guarantee at any particular time of course--but if you'd page me a few times, or maybe let me know a good timeslot for you, that would be great, I'd appreciate it.
