Use HTML markup for the list and give the <li> elements appropriate style attributes. Or (get someone to) edit MediaWiki:Common.css. But I have to ask, why? The box looks just fine to me. Hi Ilmari, I have added some alternate wording to the template for usage in non-TIME articles. I think there is a valid fair use argument in many cases, and the template needs to be tightened up. You had a deleted template (Template:User cannabis) in your Babel box. I (my script, actually) replaced it with code that produces an equivalent result without using the template. To do this, it had to expand your Babel box as well, since there's no other way to replace an entry within a Babel-n box with a non-template version. Hey there, nice job on the UserBox script, i was about to clean up the deleted userbox manually then i noticed it was fixed already. How often does it run? I have another userbox that was deleted and I was wondering when it will be fixed by the script. thanks!Spazm 16:30, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

The script runs whenever someone gets around to it; it's not a bot, just a way to fix (some) deleted userboxes on a page with a single click. You can add it to your monobook.js and run it yourself if you like. Why were userboxes deleted in the first place?

I must say I am sort of confused as to what is going on with the userboxes? Why are some of them being deleted and others remaining? Why is Wikipedia participating in this hideous form of censorship? Can you give me a link to the discussion on all of this? I don't understand why placing a userbox in *MY* PERSONAL userpage about being a "Democrat" would be considered worthy of deletion. I appreciate you changing it to Java, but I am really shocked and confused about why this had to occur in the first place. Danflave 18:57, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm not really the person to answer that question, since to do so I would have to speak for the actions of others. I don't delete userboxes, nor did I start the project to substitute the ones that have been deleted; I have merely helped with what I see as a useful task.

Anyway, personally I don't see any reason a template that says "This user is a democrat" shouldn't exist. Not that see any particular reason it should exist, either, since one can just as well write the same thing on one's user page without a template. In fact, that's more or less what substituting the boxes accomplishes, in the end. I'd like to hope that doing so can be an acceptable compromise to both those who want to get rid of userbox templates and those who still want to keep the boxes on their user pages. And even if not, at least it's nice to know I'm doing something useful by fixing pages that got broken during all this pushing and pulling. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:10, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Yes I am trying to understand this too. But like the others, I can't find the deleted userboxes to know why they were deleted. Is there any place this is discussed in a non-computer specialist or non-jargon language? I gather now you are basically writing code for individual user pages rather than going through a template, but are you individually going to every page and pasting in the code by hand (so to speak) on each user's page? Seems like a lot of work. Why has this become such an issue, and where can I go to find why people object to political userboxes? I know there is a whole debate about POV on userpages which may be sparking this action, is that what this is about? I'm of the belief that if you know an author's POV you can filter for that when you read something he or she writes, and even with a strong POV someone is still capable of writing in a relatively NPOV way. He believes (like I do) that userboxes should be restored (even the deleted and 'censored' ones). Yes, he goes through people's userpages and replaces the code of deleted userboxes, and no, not by hand (he's aided by Javascript). Take a little sidetrip over to here, which is a template showing you where the whole debate is regarding deleted userboxes.
