User talk:Ihp GmbH
- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

[edit]Your account was blocked because Wikipedia accounts must be for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them. Accounts whose names are names of companies or groups are not permitted.
One reason for that is that company accounts are invariably here to promote themselves, but Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion of any kind. One of our fundamental principles is Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and we have a much more austere view of what is promotional than do most people writing about themselves or their organization.
What you wrote included: "excellent research infrastructure... very good research conditions... sets a high value on an intensive co-operation with regional companies... has a close co-operation with universities and colleges... " That is the Institute telling the world about itself and how it would like to be seen. That is not what Wikipedia is for: it is an encyclopedia, not a notice-board for people or organizations to write about themselves. To do that, you have your own website, or plenty of sites like Myspace or Facebook; but Wikipedia is different.
Because people close to a subject find it hard to maintain a neutral point of view, we have strong rules against editing with a Conflict of interest - please read WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. If you want to be unblocked, you will need to make an unblock request, as described in the pink notice above, which will convince an administrator that you understand that, and in regard to your employer you will suggest changes for neutral users to consider, rather than making them directly.

:Sorry, but that name is already registered. It was active from 2003 -2004, but has too much editing history to be usurped. Choose again (just change the name in the template), and click on preview. You can then click the 'check availability' thing, and if it's OK, you can then save. Peridon (talk) 12:41, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- This still sounds as though you expect to be writing your organization's article. Please read Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. Do you agree, if unblocked, to follow those rules? JohnCD (talk) 14:40, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, Ihp_GmbH, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please remember to disclose these connections. Judging by actions, it APPEARS that User:87.145.96.233, User:194.95.141.200 are WP:SOCKs of COI banned user WP:Ihp GmbH. — raekyt 22:50, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

There is already a German page of our institute and I just want to translate that page into English, therefore the account has to be unblocked.
Decline reason:
(1) Have you actually read the messages you have received concerning your block? This unblock request does not address the reasons for the block at all. (2) Admitting that your intention is to post a translation of the unambiguously promotional German Wikipedia article to English Wikipedia is an excellent reason for not unblocking you. Wikipedia is not a free advertising service. (I see that you have been warned about advertising on German Wikipedia too.) Non-Admin comment: There is no obligation within the Wikipedia community to unblock anyone. Also, as the administrators have stated over and over again, the issues of WP: COI and WP: SOCK need to be addressed before you stand any chance of being unblocked, and repeatedly using words such as "we" and "the company" isn't helping your case. Have you ever read the text I wrote in German? It is not at all a unambiguously promotional German Wikipedia article! It is an information about a German reasearch institute and its history. All these information I want to translate into English because its an international known institute. Maybe you should google that?
Decline reason:
Yes, I did read it. It was reverted for being promotional and it sounds like a product brochure with fluff like "renommierte" and "weltweit führend" (in English: "reputable" and "worldwide leading") which is something we try to avoid on enWikipedia. So no we will not allow you to translate it, and more generally as an user associated with the company you should not be editing the company's page directly per WP:COI. There is also still the question of the username. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:41, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
