Replaceable fair use Image:Milo Đukanović.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Milo Đukanović.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:43, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Hafizullah Amin.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hafizullah Amin.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:00, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Kobol.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kobol.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jack Merridew 20:39, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

[edit]

Just to let you know, I added you on WikiProject_Montenegro - Participants. Cheers! Rave92(talk) 16:37, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Rick Worthy, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rick Worthy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Ridernyc (talk) 15:39, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stats

[edit]

"A developed country with a very high Human Development Index," Greece

"Croatia is classified as an emerging and developing economy by the International Monetary Fund and a high income economy by the World Bank." Croatia

"Serbia has a high Human Development Index[8] and Freedom House in 2008 listed Serbia as one of few free Balkan states.[9] " Serbia

"Per capita, it is the richest Slavic nation-state, and is 88.3% of the EU27 average GDP (PPP) per capita." Slovenia

"The UK is a developed country, with the world's sixth largest economy by nominal GDP[17] and the sixth largest by purchasing power parity." United Kingdom

" and very high living standards (15th highest Human Development Index), including the seventeenth-highest quality of life index rating in the world[5]." Spain

So no, that part isn't just for international organizations. Rave92(talk) 19:27, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Fair enough. I have moved the relevant text to the top of the paragraph, as it currently breaks the flow of the paragraph (Int. org. -> Stats -> Int. org.). I have also revised the language of the sentence to correct for improper English syntax. Thanks! Helmandsare(talk) 21:23, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

United States vs. American

[edit]

United States is clearer language, especially when talking to readers from other than the United States, because American could mean:

  • Latin American (from the persective of Spanish cultures
  • From the American Continents
  • From North America
  • American, as in individuals from the United States vs. the United States Government (i.e. Mercenaries or business interests)
  • etc, etc.

United States clearly means the Political body of the United States. I reverted your edit in that regard, thanks. Way to WP:Be Bold, however. Sadads (talk) 13:00, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Packard logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Packard logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:06, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for Campus Ambassadors in Houston

[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian connected with Rice University. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at another Houston school, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live in Houston and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:38, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Armed Forces of Liberia

[edit]

Hi Helmandsare. I'd like to thank you for your edits on the AFL but ask you to be a bit more careful. The Liberian National Coast Guard is not a division of the 23rd Infantry Brigade but rather reports to the COIC equally in status to the 23rd Bde. Also, Suraj Abdurrahman is NOT the Chief of Staff. They have specifically avoided naming anyone a 'Chief of Staff' because there's no Liberian they can agree on for the job. Thus Abdurrahman is the Command Officer in Charge (COIC). Please when adding material be more careful; Abdurrahman's correct title was in the infobox at the top of the article. Buckshot06 (talk) 01:34, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Liberian elections

[edit]

Regarding your page move summary "General election implies a parliamentary system. Per other pages, presidential and legislative elections should be divided into two pages", a general election does not imply a parliamentary system - the phrase is also used to describe elections in other systems where all elections are held on the same day (see Philippine general election, 1965 as an example). I've moved the article back and corrected the links. Cheers, Number 57 20:57, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
