THE VULNERABILITY OF MEN.
[edit]BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.....
Who is a MAN? Society has always had its way of how a man should be sprout up.Into today’s world a man is defined to be Accountable,Gentle,Leader,Protector and Understanding.Normally,to be a man means being faithful in all his life Relationships even if it means putting himself last.
Vulnerability has always been a feminist thing and it has a higher monopoly on the women’s side than that of the men.Emotions are part of who we are as humans and many are times questions are asked if it’s normal for a man to be emotional?Looking at society way back and the modern world there is no difference in how a man is expected to act emotionally and this has caused trouble for most of the men to express how they feel because they will be considered as weak individuals which is quite false.Man are discouraged from doing so,Additionally they often tend to shy away from vulnerable conversations.
“Traditionally, men are seen as being weak or unmanly in someway if they expressed themselves through crying ,”hence if a male child falls down or gets hurt terms such as “man up,’big boys don’t cry and it goes as far by using insults such as “mammy’s boy.Although this view of masculinity is thankfully changing,it is still hard to shake off the culture values that society has set up.In some way it is said that it’s protecting boys from the judgements of others and preparing them for the real world by telling them not to cry from a young age which is more socially acceptable for the girls to cry and it’s so uncalled for.Society is more like to comfort them rather than telling them to stop and with this boys grow into men who are often seen to be less open about there feelings in comparison to women but because they may not talk doesn’t mean they don’t feel. Despite being culturally,Society should accept and hopeful that men will share their feelings, the fear of being perceived as any thing other than masculine affects our understanding of the emotional state and this has increased rates of depression, suicide is leading cause of deaths of young men. There is no fault for a man to express his emotions, crying does not entail that is indeed weak or worthless it only goes to show how human that personality is.Society should change how our men are perceived.Them naturally being the head in light of scripture does not mean they are the only ones who have to provide.Society should look at the fact women have the duty to provide just like men do.yes, the men is perceived and to an extent defined to be the head;but men are but only humans with feelings too;they have emotions and desperately stature because they too go through a lot .Therefore, for mental health issues amongst men to decrease society should understand that manner does not fall upon men from heaven,it requires hard work on the part of men to make ends meet, and this is something society shouldn’t ignore. With this men shouldn’t be seen as weak and end up losing there respect and usurping their roles that’s totally wrong! They have the right to express their emotions even through crying because it’s okay to cry;it’s normal. In conclusion, society should encourage and support every young man out there in dire need not only monetary form. These young men need our support;and society must position to do just that.Thats the change we need.
