Welcoming

[edit]

Hello, I dream of horses! Thanks for all your work patrolling & welcoming new users; I’ve recognized your handle on my watchlist for a long time. I just happened to notice an unsigned welcome message you recently left for EarlMcAlpine. Considering the message includes an invitation to post here, and that a new user may not be savvy enough to find a link, you might want to go back and sign it. If it was some kind of Huggle glitch, maybe check that the sig didn’t get omitted elsewhere as well …—Odysseus1479 03:34, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Odysseus: As you guessed, that was unintended. Probably a momentary glitch with huggle. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 17:43, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, prob. you missed the fact that Castle of Fear was a copy-vio and reviewed it. I have tagged it for G12. Cheers:)Winged Blades Godric 07:38, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Winged Blades of Godric: Really no excuse for me to miss that. Good thing that you did. Thanks. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 07:39, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I recognized it since I arrived from Copy-patrol! I always feel, that integrating NPP with some automatic copy-vio detector would be quite good!Winged Blades Godric 07:42, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Winged Blades of Godric: I do have a copyvio check installed in my sidebar via my js page. I should really get into the habit of using it. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 07:43, 3 August 2017 (UTC) (fixed ping at 07:44, 3 August 2017 (UTC)0[reply]

Hello, I explicitly explained that I removed all the broken links and replaced them by fresh good ones. Loudumo (talk) 07:56, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

@Loudumo: Can you link to where you explained this?
By the way, using edit summaries would perhaps prevent miscommunications like this in the future. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 08:01, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote it in "edit summaries". I later did a second edit to remove a leftover, without explains. You probably saw that last one.Loudumo (talk) 08:24, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies. Next time, use edit summaries with each and every edit you make. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 08:25, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm not used to use edit summaries, as I write lots of articles in french, and see no reason to explain to myself what I do in my own sandbox.... I'll try to be smarter in the future. Now, I leave it up to you for that page, which I translated this morning (with lots of research) to french. The links I added are nice and look strong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loudumo (talkcontribs) 08:29, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
btw, french page is here Thunderbolt (voiture de records) if you wanna check the actual links. For some reason, it doesn't yet appear in the "languages" tab.Loudumo (talk) 08:34, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Loudumo: I re-reverted. No worries.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 08:35, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm trying to edit the solar refrigeration page and you seem to be undoing my edits. The current page is full of incorrect information.

DavidTucson (talk) 06:49, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DavidTucson: The biggest concern I have is that you're removing references and then replacing it with unreferenced information. Your word isn't a reference, particularly in light of the fact that you have a motivation to cast solar refrigerators in a positive light because you make them. Please note, I'd also have the same concern if you had a motivation to cast solar refrigerators in a negative light for some reason or another, and you were doing exactly the same thing. Perhaps it's better that you go to Talk: Solar-powered refrigerator and request an edit under {{request edit}} for here on out. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 06:54, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The fridge picture is my fridge. The NASA engineer is me. I am the named inventor on the NASA patent for solar refrigeration. The danish work was done after we develop a fridge and their design was not a success in the market because it was too complicated.

This article is really filled with error. Their references are irrelevant to the points they are making.

Here are examples of their errors or irrelevance:

From the current article:

"There is environmental concern regarding conventional refrigeration technologies including contribution to ozone layer depletion and global warming." [Solar refrigerators do not address ozone layer depletion or global warming. They used the same refrigerants and blowing agents used in non-solar refrigerators]

"Refrigerators which contain ozone depleting and global warming substances such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), in their insulation foam or their refrigerant cycle, are the most harmful." [Sure, but what does this have to do with solar powered refrigerators? CFCs are not used in solar or non-solar refrigerators]

"After CFCs were banned in the 1980s, they were replaced with substances such as hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which are ozone-depleting substances and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Both are environmentally destructive as potential global warming chemicals." [all that is irrelevant, solar and non-solar refrigerators use the same chemicals]

"If a conventional refrigerator is inefficient or used inefficiently, it will also contribute more to global warming than a highly efficient refrigerator. [I won't argue with that]

"The use of solar energy to power refrigeration strives to minimize the negative impacts refrigerators have on the environment.[1][2] [That is completely wrong. I make solar fridges and I strive to make them inexpensive, reliable, and efficient. The eco benefit is debatable and irrelevant. Solar refrigerators are used to provide refrigeration where grid power is not available or is unreliable. Solar fridges use far more total resources to make, install, operate, and dispose than normal fridges as reflected by the much higher total cost of ownership, but they are used because they are often the best alternative in off-the-grid locations.]

I know your editing rules are generally good, but I don't have time to argue with the eco loons that wrote much of this, so the article will just have to remain inaccurate and misleading, which is so sad because Wiki is often my go to source for information especially technical or scientific. People going to this page will come away less educated and more brainwashed.

DavidTucson (talk) 07:34, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DavidTucson: It's saddening to hear that you won't find the time to make the article correct.  I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 07:36, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make the time to fix it if you'll agree not to undo it. For the first round, I'll just remove the irrelevant/misleading information which I pointed out. No references should be required? Agree? DavidTucson (talk) 16:53, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DavidTucson: I didn't agree to that the first time around, and I don't agree to that now. References are required on Wikipedia. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 17:30, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

[edit]

Hi, I dream of horses!

I just wanted to say thank you for reviewing and accepting the article I submitted (Madison Ferris) so quickly! This is the first article that I've created on Wikipedia, and I'm very excited that it has been published. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to improve the article, since now I'd like to help bring it above Stub-class. I noticed you removed a lot of material when you reviewed it - sorry, I'm not quite familiar with every Wiki rule so I don't know what is too trivial to include in articles. Any tips you have would be super appreciated! Paracosmstalk 17:45, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Paracosms: Adding a free cultured licensed (read: not fully copyrighted) picture might be helpful.
Also, just continuing to add reliable, independent-of-Farris sources, and putting the information contained within those sources in your own words, would be helpful as well. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 02:41, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Regunta Yesurathnam was a Systematic Theologian and I have recreated the article which like B. V. Subbamma was deleted. A couple of years' back, you had recreated B. V. Subbamma. Request your help in keeping Regunta Yesurathnam. Today happens to be his anniversary. Meher Mansion (talk) 20:47, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Meher Mansion: Regunta Yesurathnam was deleted as a broken redirect to R. Yesurathnam, which was deleted due to a deletion discussion. This makes it so the article can be deleted at any time to speedy deletion if it's the same person and the problems described in the discussion haven't been addressed.
I haven't (intentionally) created any article, never mind B. V. Subbamma, which was deleted for the same reason. Perhaps Jayjg, the administrator who deleted both articles, can check to see if the articles actually qualify to be kept, and tell you whoever wrote the original ones. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 00:47, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to work with us occasionally? We are crearing essays, guiedlines and similar stuff. And wiki policies too. Currently i am working on WP:MAFIA, and WP:SPY. We are improving articles regarding the groups. Would you like to participate? There is no work limits. Do what you have to, and then push forward the remaining work. Its easy. Lets talk once in a silent, professional mode, then let me know what you think about it. I also reactivated a defunct project. Your guideline would be appreciated a lot. And you dont have put a lot of time with us either. It is totally uptp you. I am 100% sure you are going to like it. :)

Waiting for your reply,
Kiran.
usernamekiran(talk) 23:39, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Usernamekiran: In case you haven't noticed, I have yet to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to a subject area on Wikipedia. My edits are a bit too "behind the scenes" (spelling/style correction, vandal/random/new page patrolling, etc.) to do that. Thanks for thinking of me, anyways. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:05, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Following your edit to the page Bruce Anstey in which you removed the flag icon, and kindly pointed out that quote: only F1 car drivers are exempt from this blanket, it looks like you about to become very busy indeed, removing the flag icons from the pages of such as: Cal Crutchlow, Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Takuma Aoki, Alex de Angelis, Shuhei Aoyama, Gregorio Lavilla, Alex Barros, Franco Battaini, Max Biaggi, Marco Lucchinelli, Ayrton Badovini, Matthieu Lussiana, Sylvain Barrier, Leandro Mercado, Simon Buckmaster, Luca Cadalora, Bernat Martínez, Carlos Checa, Kirk McCarthy, Simon Crafar, Avalon Biddle, Barry Briggs, Joan Garriga, Wayne Gardner, Nobuatsu Aoki and Marco Greco to name a few, in order to point out the reference made and to avoid any inconsistencies.

@Harvey Milligan: I didn't do this. Semperito did. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 13:17, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dear friend, I am German wikipeadian and I am working on the de:Colombiana (Getränk). What is missing, and thats why I contact you because you were working on the company Postobon that produces this drink, is a good source that shows the popularity of this drink in English or Spanisch language. Would you be so kind and help me with a link? I cannot finde one. Then I would insert this source into the above article. Many thanks. Tokota (talk) 11:26, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Tokota: According to the page history, I haven't edited the page, but I'll still help.
On the English Wikipedia, it would be totally okay to have a reference that isn't in Spanish or English if you were to talk about how popular the drink is. However, I am only familiar with English Wikipedia edit policies, and the policies on the German Wikipedia might be completely different. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 13:22, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
We can use English and Spanish references. Tokota (talk) 13:34, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Tokota: Perhaps you can ask someone on the German Wikipedia. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 13:43, 17 August 2017 (UTC) (fixed ping at 05:02, 18 August 2017 (UTC))[reply]

You have undone my work on "List of Presidents of Pakistan" link of the page is https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Presidents_of_Pakistan&action=history

You didn't gave any explanation why you have reversed it. Was it due to the pictures of the ex-Presidents? I had other changes as well on the page, like I added Tenure column to calculate the number of years as President..

Please explain your reason of undoing my work....

PakSniper (talk) 17:51, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@PakSniper: I wasn't the user who reverted you. Might want to talk to TheRichic. -- I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 05:04, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@PakSniper: I undid the edition because you put an image that was little recognized by the President. The image that was previously is of better quality and looks better. You can do again the other changes.

COI - of a different kind

Hi I dream of horses/2017. Because it involves New Page and AfC reviewers along with other maintenance workers (SPI, COIN), an informal chat has begun on some aspects of paid editing. See Conflict of Interest - of a different kind. Please add your thoughts there. It is not a debate or RfC.

[edit]
Hello I dream of horses/2017, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 16,991 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.

Technology update:

  • Rentier has created a NPP browser in WMF Labs that allows you to search new unreviewed pages using keywords and categories.

General project update:

  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech team is working with the community to implement the autoconfirmed article creation trial. The trial is currently set to start on 7 September 2017, pending final approval of the technical features.
