Welcoming note

[edit]

Hi there kind fellow user,

maybe if you knew the vitriolic abuse I have suffered at the hands of the person you have just welcomed (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:190.25.91.80) you would not be so sympathetic. A simple difference of opinion in the Quique Sánchez Flores article has resulted in this persecution (THREE YEARS and going!), with every name in the book being thrown my way for nothing. And then the WP guidelines expect me to stay cool and not stoop to his level, I cannot unfortunately.

Happy 2016 to yourself, from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 02:14, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And happy 2016 to you as well.
Do your best to remain within civility guidelines. You may also want to consult this part of my user page, which has links to various noticeboards to help resolve disputes.
Also note that a welcome template is usually an indication that the person isn't engaging in simple vandalism. It isn't really an endorsement of behavior beyond that. --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:01, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understood that you were not endorsing troll per se. I was just venting my utter sadness, been here for nine years working my insides out, and attitudes like this make me feel absolutely gutted. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:04, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, unfortunately you do encounter some interesting personalities online. People don't feel as though they need to filter themselves here. Just do your best. --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 03:07, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input, regards. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 03:12, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

I was looking for the Wikipedia page of a very notable deceased Australian cartoonist, Armstrong (1903-1978), who was occasionally known as 'Mick', and got to Mick Armstrong, another Australian whom I hadn't known about. I suspect he got his nickname from the cartoonist.

Being only an infrequent and ignorant Wikipedia editor (as I told you when you welcomed me), I could add a disambiguating note to that Wikipedia page pointing to the NLA page (awkwardly) given above. Would that be alright? Of course it would be great if you knew of or could find an Australian biographer on Wikipedia who would like to add a formal page for Mick#1! Wnholmes (talk)

@Wnholmes: It's actually quite possible that Mick Armstrong the cartoonist doesn't have a Wikipedia article, negating any need to disambiguate. None appeared on the first page of search results when I googled Mick Armstrong cartoonist.
If you so desire, you could, in fact, use articles for creation to try and see if Mick the cartoonist qualifies for an article. Even if he doesn't, well, then you have a little bit of experience with article writing. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 06:04, 5 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I dream of horses!

I recently discovered a message you sent me regarding an article of Geography in Guatemala ([[1]]). I regret to inform you that I didn't make the edit you sent me which apparently added the phrase "it´s a very cold region" which I agree with you that isn't constructive. According to what I've seen in some of the warnings, I guess that someone else sharing this IP address made those changes. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.151.62.88 (talk)

It's quite possible that someone else, who was quite innocently using your IP address, made that edit instead. If you want to edit articles, even sparsely, I'd suggest creating an account. I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 01:04, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2001: A Space Odyssey Music

[edit]

Hey there.

I was wondering, since Alex North did the music for Space Odyssey, and the music isn't credited, can I add it in?

I know that the score was unused, but some people are gonna be wondering about the music and be befuddled about who did the music for the movie, regardless if there is any or not.

Also, I haven't really seen Space Odyssey, but still, I wonder about the music. All that pops up is underneath the actors credits is the credits for Geoffrey Unsworth's cinematography. Not that I've anything against cinematographers, which I don't.

Also, I'd appreciate it if you don't take this as an angry letter, because I don't intend to be if I am.

Hi mate. I felt like looking at the tim cook page after reading this,http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/1946821-widow-of-dying-husband-goes-to-court-to-get-his-apple-password/ All too often diplomacy rules out the admission of some things that should be mentioned. In this case leadership style. I know that most leaders are too important to work on the coal face. This truth always leaves personal entries seemingly sanguibne and ingenuine. Contribs Removed

[edit]

Hi, I've been a member since around 2005, but I see all my contributions have been wiped now, like they don't matter anymore. So was my member page, that was I made to believe was "permanent". While I see the point of not having to be able to revert back to a post several years ago, wiping any trace of whomever made edits to a work is kind of rude. Grumble, grumble, all of a sudden I have to make 10 new contributions to edit locked posts too, like I'm a complete newbie... I'm not saying you did these things, but you were the one unlucky enough to be suggested as a contact for questions when I reinstalled my user page. Now that I'm nearly done complaining, I do have some questions. Why wasn't I given any warning that this might happen? Is there any way to rectify this? Or will I just have to live with it? If so, it will of course severely discourage me from wanting to make new contributions. --Kebman (talk) 08:32, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Kebman: Removing contributions should be impossible due to copyright reasons. Attribution is a must. However, you need to realize that any contributions you made to the Norweigan Wikipedia won't transfer over here.
According to this page, your English Wikipedia account was only created yesterday, which is actually in line with what's called "single user login"--you could log into any Wikimedia project and get a new account under the same name, but it's a new account with each project. --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 23:23, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@I dream of horses: I'm of course talking about contributions made to the English Wikipedia, and not the Norwegian one. I am not a new member. I'm a returning one, and I can't find my own contributions. In fact it said my own user page was removed, though this notification has now vanished. This leads me to conclude that the impossible has actually happened. I'm not angry about it (at first I was indeed frustrated, though), but I am concerned and a bit curious. Hi, I noticed you reviewed List of television program: numbers. I don't know what exactly you did in a "review" since I see nothing, but I'd like for you to help me list it for extremely speedy deletion.

I made a typo in the title. It's supposed to be List of television programs: numbers. I tried looking at listing for deletion myself but I'm having a hard time finding a simple guide. I'd appreciate the help, thank you. --Mr. Magoo and McBarker (talk) 06:34, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr. Magoo and McBarker: I don't get it; the title already is List of television programs: numbers. If you need to change the title, you can simply move it instead of requesting a deletion.
A review just means that aren't any blatant issues that must be worked on immediately. It doesn't actually mean you're done with the article. --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 06:54, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay, that's good to know. ..Say, what do you do when there already exists a duplicate? --Mr. Magoo and McBarker (talk) 06:56, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Mr. Magoo and McBarker: I never said there was a duplicate. I said your article was already named List of television program: numbers. --I dream of horses (My talk page) (My edits) @ 07:02, 29 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
