Hi there -- I made a few edits to the new Acarinae article you just created. That new article is unreferenced and does not add any information beyond what is already in Acaridae. If you are planning to create more new articles, please be sure you are adding information that is not already available in a more expanded form in elsewhere in Wikipedia. Otherwise your new article may be merged back into the better article. Sharktopus talk 02:25, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Sharktopus, thanks for the comments. Yes it was a poor start. The plan is really to deal with species level pages not necessarily the higher taxonomic levels in the first instance. There is a fundamental difference between a family (Acaridae) and subfamily (Acarinae) taxonomic page. I'll look to getting a better handle on the when and how of splitting taxonomic levels. i5k initiative (talk) 02:50, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I did not mean to suggest that the two pages were about the same topic, just that every single piece of information on Acarinae is already on the higher-level page Acaridae, which also has more information on it as well. For example, the article Paranoid schizophrenia was recently deleted/merged into the higher level article Schizophrenia because the latter had more and better information, including more and better information about paranoid schizophrenia. I suggest you look closely at WikiProject Arthropods for good articles that you could model your articles on, or get help there from somebody experienced. Sharktopus talk 04:12, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
