User:I5k initiative
The i5k initiative plans to sequence the genomes of 5,000 insect and related arthropod species over the next 5 years. We hope to engage with the arthropod research communities and contribute more coverage of arthropod-related articles (both at the species level but also higher taxonomic levels) as well as improving existing articles. These articles are primarily to be descriptive and not about genomics or the work of the i5k group. The motivation is to have a Wikipedia article for each species with contributions from as many of members of the scientific community as possible.
We'll add more details of wikipedians helping with these tasks and our medium term goals soon. If any wikipedians are interested in getting involved then please contact me or visit the WikiProject_Arthropods page.
