File copyright problem with File:Spiral Jetty USU.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Spiral Jetty USU.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 23:26, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry to keep bugging you about this, but Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Who is Dr. Christine Fox? Where did you get the image from? Why do you believe it is released under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0? J Milburn (talk) 18:54, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- No, that's fine, I appreciate that our image policies are a little byzantine. The trouble is, if the image does not belong to you, you do not have the right to release it under that license. We would be able to accept a release by Dr. Fox- could you possibly have her email permissions-en@wikimedia.org, providing a link to the image page, stating that she is the copyright holder and saying she releases the image under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0? Once that's done, let me know, and I can deal with it from there. J Milburn (talk) 20:10, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- I noticed, thanks for sticking with it :) If you need any help with this kind of thing or anything else in the future, you know where I am. J Milburn (talk) 15:22, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 14:19, 23 January 2014 (UTC)Esperanto Book of Mormon
[edit]Thanks to Wikipedia censorship I can't actually edit any pages... All my networks are blocked through no fault of my own...
You were wrong to remove the Esperanto translation of the Book of Mormon. It exists in its entiriety. I downloaded a copy some years ago, and it has all the books in it. I have also seen photographs of a print edition with board covers online, so it has been published more formally at some point.
It doesn't matter if any of the churches did the translation, it exists and as far as I know, the Esperanto looks to be pretty sound. We don't apply this criteria to translations of the Bible, but we do to the Book of Mormon... Why?
Some Mormon splinter sect with twenty members could commission a bad translation and you would accept it, while a perfectly good one will go unnoticed by you because it doesn't fit your criteria. To my knowledge, Esperanto and Hebrew are two languages which have had full translations but the mainline LDS won't endorse either just now.-109.249.184.209 (talk) 12:10, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Utah State University Honors Program
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Utah State University Honors Program, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
