Your submission at Articles for creation: Human Rights Center (February 14)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! The submission has not been accepted because it included copyrighted information, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work.

The existing submission may be deleted at any time. Copyrighted work cannot be allowed to remain on Wikipedia.

StarryGrandma (talk) 22:23, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The article is composed of pieces copied directly from the projects website at http://www.law.berkeley.edu/hrc.htm and subpages. Wikipedia takes copyright violation very seriously. (A law school should know that!) If you rewrite the article you also need to provide references to show that the program is well-known. We need to see newspaper and magazine articles, independent of Berkeley and its press releases, that report on the project. StarryGrandma (talk) 22:29, 14 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Human Rights Center requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.law.berkeley.edu/11913.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

KaleToTheChief (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

This block is not necessary because I am a single person, not an organization, writing this article. I am a student at Berkeley, but am not directly affiliated with Eric Stover. I have taken measures to make the language sound more appropriate, however, I am unable to make any further edits with a block. This Wikipedia is only used by one person and therefore, I believe the block is unnecessary.

Decline reason:

Procedural close. Please use the following code to make your unblock request: {{unblock-un|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} Coffee // have a cup // beans // 21:08, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@DragonflySixtyseven:- do you think a change of username is required? PhilKnight (talk) 18:40, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. If you promise to file a request to have your username changed you can be unblocked. DS (talk) 19:44, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

I would like to make my username sound less affiliated with an organization as I am an individual person. I hope to be unblocked once my username is changed.

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 21:15, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I see that both the pages you have created have contained substantial amounts of text copied verbatim or almost verbatim from other web sites, which is unacceptable under Wikipedia's copyright policy. Please be careful to avoid making the same mistake again, as such pages are likely to be speedily deleted, as both the ones you created have been. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 21:16, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@JamesBWatson: These are my first Wikipedia entries, and I thought I could use the law school's website as a good starting off point and get constructive criticism from there. I realize now that this can lead to blocks and hardly constructive criticism at all. I have been waiting to change the language of the article and refer to more outside sources, but have been blocked for quite some time so I have been unable to do so. Please don't delete this article as I have simply been trying to get back to it to continue editing.

Your contributed article, Eric Stover

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Eric Stover. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Draft:Eric Stover. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Draft:Eric Stover – you might like to discuss new information at [[Talk:Draft:Eric Stover|the article's talk page]].

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. The Snowager-is awake 00:03, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:Snowager Both articles are mine! Haha. I wasn't sure if the other one submitted for review or not. I will go ahead and delete this one and wait for the other. Thank you!

Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Eric Stover  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~ (talk) (contribs) 19:38, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
