Welcome!
[edit]Hi Hodgey323, and welcome to Wikipedia! I've written some advice on editing here for students in Prof. Jackson's similar classes at Longy School of Music which you might find helpful. You'll find it here. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page (User talk:Voceditenore), or place {{helpme}} here on your talk page, ask your question, and another editor will come along to help. When you leave a message here or on any other talk page, be sure to sign it by typing ~~~~ (4 tildes with no spaces between them) at the end. When you click save, the Wikipedia software will automatically convert that show your user name and your talk page (with links to them) as well as the date and time when you signed. WP:SIGN has more about all the ins and outs of that.
You might also be interested in WikiProject Classical music and WikiProject Composers. They have various guidelines for articles in this area and talk pages where you can ask advice from editors experienced in writing articles on classical music and related subjects. You'll find these guides particularly useful: WikiProject Composers: Guide to online research and WikiProject Composers: Copyright guidelines. The Teahouse

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Hodgey323
[edit]A tag has been placed on User:Hodgey323 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - Hi Hodgey323. Don't worry. I've removed the speedy deletion tag and explained to the patroller that you were part of a class getting ready to do your assignments. I'll also have word with Professor Jackson about the general issue of editor profiles. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 07:59, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Your user page
[edit]Hi Hodgey. It looks like the page got a second speedy deletion tag and was deleted. I asked the deleting administrator if they could could restore the page so you can edit it to bring it in line with Wikipedia's policies. Your and your fellow students' profiles need to be much more concise and more closely related to what your future work here will be. I recommend you also include a section explicitly about what you plan to work on here. A user page consisting solely of an extensive essay-like autobiography where the user has made no other contributions to Wikipedia is technically contrary to Wikipedia's guidelines on user pages and tends to ring alarm bells, leading to deletions. If the administrator doesn't think it would be a good idea to restore it, you can simply create a new page along the lines I suggested. If you need any help, just give me a shout. Best wishes, Voceditenore (talk) 06:35, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
