Mistake
I make a mistake, I swere. I thought that I was editing here. Punetor i Rregullt5 (talk) 05:35, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
- That was a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! ~ Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk to me) 06:11, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
- I agree but it is possible they were editing many pages at once. I do that sometimes, and sometimes I end up deleting content on the wrong page and have to quickly undo it. Thankfully, I caught their mistake in a timely manner and I'm sure they'll will be more careful next time. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:15, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
Updates
Hi There I was just trying to add photos and minor information update on the bio page about me. Not changing the nature of the content. Can you please assist. thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katierichardson44 (talk • contribs) 05:32, 3 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Katierichardson44: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for admitting your WP:Conflict of interest. Since it is pretty clear you have a conflict of interest I first suggest you read the links I posted on your page. Now, moving on, if you want to create a draft of some updated content with the refs you linked in the article that is fine. Just post it on the WP:talk page using Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request and an experienced editor will review it and accept or reject it with an explanation. Please don't just spam references without context. However, not all the links you posted were okay for Wikipedia. For example, linking to an external image isn't allowed on Wikipedia. All images must be uploaded onto WikiCommons and you must own the copyright to it. Hope this helps! Don't be afraid to ask further questions here or at the WP:helpdesk where more editors can help. Spot on :) —SerialNumber54129 paranoia /cheap sh*t room 20:06, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Serial Number 54129: Thanks! I posted on ANI before I saw your SPI. Smart thinking by the way. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:08, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
COI Brown University
Thanks for the heads up about COI - I understand your concern and the seriousness of these issues on a widely-referenced platform like Wikipedia. Hopefully, you'll see that the edits made were mainly updates to old statistics and program structures. The former can be verified with the citations provided, and the latter is knowledge which by nature is only really known to those of us connected to the program. In interfacing with prospective students, we often find that high school students misunderstand the program requirements due to out of date info they find online, so keeping this information up to date is very important. Brownrisdedit (talk) 04:05, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Brownrisdedit: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for leaving me a message. It is clear you've looked over the links and your edits seem to be neutrally worded and sourced. I get your concern and understand that Wikipedia needs to be factual and up-to-date (as long as there is reliable sourcing to back it up) however this community of non-COI volunteers is of course concerned about a Wikipedia page being treated as a pamphlet for the school.
- I must first say that you must disclose your conflict of interest on your user page. You do so by following the guidelines at WP:DISCLOSE.
- Secondly, if you read the first line in bold it says "avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors." While not required, though it is a general principle people accept here and is strongly recommended, if you wish to make substantial edits, such as completely re-writing a section or dealing with controversial information, it is recommended that you use an edit request format. An experienced editor will review it and if it is neutrally worded (per WP:NPOV) and well source it will likely be accepted. If not, the editor will explain why in detail. Further questions can be answered here or at the WP:helpdesk or WP:teahouse where more editors can answer and help. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:17, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
Justice Daubney
Hello
I am new to Wikipedia and need to edit the page of Justice Daubney.
Can you please explain why these changes cannot be made?

- @Wikiab2018: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! May I ask why you need to edit his article? Is it for an internship or another kind of job? If so, please read the links I sent you on your page and stop your disruptive promotional editing. Further editing like this may result in a block from Wikipedia. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:12, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
I work at South Coast College and am getting edits undone? I need to update our accrediting commission, link to the agencies, and show which programs we currently offer!
- Please read the links I posted on your talk page about COI editing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:49, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
I don't see how it is a conflict of interest to update to our current information? The information is outdated and leads to dead ends. We only offer three programs now and the outlines of each program have significantly changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by South Coast College (talk • contribs) 01:52, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
- You don't see how having a personal stake in a topic you are editing is a conflict of interest? Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is necessary for ensuring a neutral point of view and retaining the public's trust in it. Please read the links myself and another editor have sent you on your talk page. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:56, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
Sorry
Yeah so, about the change I made to the Chicago Bulls page. That was a complete and total accident. You see, I use IOS, and so, all to often, my clumsy fingers can easily press the publish button by mistake. I use other pages to preview experiments because sometimes the page has something on it that I simply want to change, and see how it looks, and also because I cannot access my sand box on the wikipedia app. My apologies Karl Malone the Mailman (talk) 04:18, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Karl Malone the Mailman: I strongly recommend finding a new way to edit as I had to revert you 4 times! You even had edit summaries like this which means you know this is happening. Please try and be more careful in the future. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:20, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Yeah. That is the point. When I realize that I accidentally pressed the publish button, it is too late. So I inform everyone about the mistakes. And the having to revert me four times was because the first edit, which was the accidental one, not only removed content, but added in new content as well. The second edit was me removing the newly added content. And basically one thing led to another. Karl Malone the Mailman (talk) 04:45, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Karl Malone the Mailman: Alright, thank you for informing me. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:48, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Alright so, I found out how to get on my sandbox on the Wikipedia app. I do testing on there from now on. And if a page has something on it that I want to change, I will copy and paste it onto the sandbox, I guess Karl Malone the Mailman (talk) 15:17, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
