Questions about a new article flagged for cleanup

[edit]

Hi Hetar. My article about Alarm Will Sound was flagged by you for cleanup. I've since made a lot of changes and so I'm wondering if there's anything else you think is still clean-up-worthy or if the cleanup tags can be removed. This is my first article so I'm not entirely clear about the protocol... Thanks. Dennisdesantis 23:45, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

National Chief Petty Officers Association {{importance}} tagging

[edit]

Hetar, the {{importance}} tag has as its only link a link to Wikipedia:Importance. Within that page it states:

"An article is "important" enough to be included in Wikipedia if any one of the following is true:
  1. There is evidence that a reasonable number of people are, were or might be concurrently interested in the subject (eg. it is at least well-known in a community)."

As noted in the article, the organization has 2400 members and 4 sub entities around the United States. This certainly qualifies as being a reasonable number of people interested in the subject. I have adhered to the importance tag. I will not revert you again as I have no desire to get into an edit war, but I would sincerely appreciate it if you would now remove the tag since Wikipedia:Importance has clearly been met. Thank you. All the best, --Durin 19:51, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did not add the tag because I think the organization is not important. Rather, the tag was added because the article could better explain this importance, and the role the organization plays in contributing to the Navy, Coast Guard, and the lives of its members. If this importance was better exlained User:Rory096 would never have tagged the article for a speedy in the first place. --Hetar 20:01, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously we hae two different definitions or uses for the tag. I would still like to see the improvements I mentioned above, but you can remove the tag if you insist. --Hetar 18:07, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spa

[edit]

You've incorrectly disambiguated Spa in the Development of Darwin's theory article to Thermal bath, but in fact the spa at Malvern, Worcestershire offered cold water treatments, as do many other spas: see Hydrotherapy and Balneotherapy. Please review any other pages you've altered to make sure that the change is not similarly incorrect. Ta, ..dave souza, talk 07:15, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure Spa town is the correct link either. The problem stems from the fact that there is no article for a cold water spa (at least that I can find). For the time being, I have removed the link. --Hetar 07:17, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As in this case the reference is to the resort, spa town works pretty well. I've added some clarification to the various pages that the term spa is often used for Mineral water rather than warm waters, and please note that on occasion the spa link can be more useful than its derivatives. Even though it's technically a disambiguation page, it gives a brief overview as well as links to the other articles. ..dave souza, talk 09:24, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Logos

[edit]

Hey, I see that you are uploading some logos. Could you help us at Category:Logos by adding subcategories to the logo tag? An example would be {{logos|Professional wrestling logos}} or similar. Thanks! SeventyThree(Talk) 02:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I'm not, I am just doing some image tagging. Is there a list of the logo sub categories somewhere? --Hetar 03:05, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Best you're going to get is browsing through the subcats of Category:Logos. SeventyThree(Talk) 10:12, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Infringing Image

[edit]

You left me a message concerning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:6mmxc.jpg and I contacted the person who took the picture and he said he did not want it on wikipedia. I don't see anything in the wiki help on removing an image and would assume you just blank the article or something, but wanted to make sure it's handled properly and deleted from the server. -Crimson30 11:24, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you just leave the red box speedy deletion tag on there, it should be deleted within 8 days regardless. If you want to make sure the image is removed properly, you can nominate it at WP:IFD. Thanks for being on top of this! --Hetar 18:04, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Waggonner

[edit]

Hi. I'm curious why you listed Joe Waggonner as a copyvio? The article seemed to bear little resemblance to the URL shown and it seems to have evolved as an original article based on the edit history. —Wknight94 (talk) 01:42, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember, but I know the content looks simillar. --Hetar 02:02, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

re:Closing AfDs

[edit]

Please be careful when closing AfDs. You closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hendrix Nosepipe was incomplete as it failed to provide who deleted the article and why it was deleted. --Hetar 02:11, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. I have added text explaining why I speedy deleted it (G1:patent nonsense) --rogerd 02:21, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ChoogsHouseCheese

[edit]

You correctly marked ChoogsHouseCheese for speedy delete. But since it was already created, deleted, and re-created today, I changed your speedy delete to a speedy delete for re-creating a deleted page, and left a note on the creator's talk page. Hopefully they'll stop doing this. Or not. --John Nagle 04:19, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I didn't notice that it was a db-repost candidate. --Hetar 04:21, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for welcomeing me to this site! Interstellar Burst

Your welcome ;) --Hetar 07:54, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for the note.

[edit]

Of course, Hetar, the article is completely factual. Please verify it against my firm's biography. The contribution, though about myself, should be included for my clients who seek to learn about me via the web's encyclopedia. Certainly if people such as athletes get pages, then why not attorneys? Or, should we take Shakespeare's jest literally, and "first thing we do, we kill all the lawyers"?

Reversions on WoW Article

[edit]

You recently reverted vandalism on the World of Warcraft article; in the process, you reverted a legitimate edit to the article without mentioning it in the description of the edit. Please be more careful about vandalism reversion in the future, and/or accurately summarize your edits. -Mance 06:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thas was not unintentional. The "gay" incident is well documented in the criticisms article, and if anyone had taken 5 seconds to look you would have found ample citations. Since you can't be bothered, I have provided another one. --Hetar 08:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese tea house

[edit]

The Tea house article should be moved to Japanese tea house. I was in the midst of moving it. Easytoremember 09:20, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a great example of why it is so important to use edit summaries. If you are blanking information with no explanation, other users are going to notice and are going to consider it as vandalism. For more information on what edit summaries are and how to use them, please see Help:Edit summary. Thanks. --Hetar 09:25, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Superboy Image on my talk page.

[edit]

You removed an image of Superboy (Kon-El) from my talk page. For the record, I didn't put it up there. So leaving me the note doesn't really tell the person who did anything.

And leaving this: (→Superboy Picture - please do not use fair use images on talk pages or on user pages)

Doesn't tell them either, it tells me. Again, I didn't put it there. Dstorres

I'm sorry, I assumed since it was your User page, that you had put it there. In any case, its your user page so your knowledge of the problem should be sufficient. --Hetar 19:28, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image uploads

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your comment about my uploaded images. Actually I didn't find an appropriate licence that would fit what the author states on his homepage: "Images may be reproduced provided the source is properly acknowledged." Please tell me what I've to use as licence tag. Thanks! David Andel 20:27, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like {{cc-by-2.0}} is what the author is after, you may want to contact him just to make sure. --Hetar 20:34, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Mitchell bio Page

[edit]

I apologize if you feel that the page is a "vanity page". However, I would ask that you kindly reconsider your position. I am a prolific force in the online media industry and am currently the president of a significant US publicly traded media company known as Think Partnership (AMEX:THK). All of the information I have posted on my page can be verified through independent and credible third party sources such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the American Stock Exchange (AMEX).

Thank you for your time and consideration in this manner. It is greatly appreciated. I have a great deal of respect for this site and think that the useful tool that Wikipedia is building is quickly becoming a considerable online knowledgebase.

About 2 pictures from zh: wikipedia

You said 2 pictures that uploaded by me - Image:GuilinOfGuangXi2.png and Image:MapOfGuilin2.png do not have there copyright status. But I wrote in it, those to pictures are from zh: wikipedia. Please see zh:Image:GuilinOfGuangXi.png and zh:Image:MapOfGuilin.png. Actually I do not know how to show the copyright status of these two pictures, and I don't know if it is different from Zh wiki. I noticed that some links you delete is because of SPAMLINK from Popup.

What does that mean exactly? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Peekgeek (talkcontribs) .

It means that the links do not comply with the policy outlined in WP:EL. --Hetar 19:45, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I read it but still don't understand what the POPUP part means. Peek Geek 19:50, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The popup part is merely a reference to the tool that I used to make the change, you can find out more about it at WP:POPUP. --Hetar 19:52, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PUI

[edit]

Hi - Thanks for your help in going through images and listing some at PUI! Just wanted to remind you that images missing a source or license do not need to be listed at PUI since they can simply be tagged {{nsd}} or {{nld}} and then automatically deleted after 7 days. -SCEhardT 06:02, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm aware of that. Normally I only list the ones at PUI where I think the editor might come back in and make up a source or add a source that would still be problematic. --Hetar 06:04, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World of Warcraft on the G3

[edit]

Hi, Hetar, regarding the information on World of Warcraft's functionality on G3-based Macs, it's a well known fact. But I do understand I need a source.

I've asked for official confirmation of this on the WoW Mac tech support forums and will use the thread url as a source once I get it. Thanks.

Does this rule apply even if I get confirmation from an actual Blizzard employee on said forum? This is what I was planning to do. I'm not sure how else I can source the information, since it's not really written down anywhere.

Forgotten to add the GFDL template

[edit]

Hi Hetar,

The image Image:Parabolic_dish_stationary.png was indeed created by myself. I simply forgot to add a license when I uploaded that images.

The image is currently not in use in an article, my intention is to use it for an article about inertial oscillations (as described in oceanography), and possibly the image will be used in the coriolis effect article.

Generally I haven't got a clue what license tag to add. For a while I just slapped on a PD-self template; lately I have used the template 'Creative Commons ShareAlike'. I don't know whether there is a difference between GFDL and CC-SA; like many others I am unwilling to read the legalese of the full licence texts. --Cleonis | Talk 22:11, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you created it, you can pretty much license it however you want. Interestingly enough, one would think that some of these licenses involve complex rules and applications. However, some of them are extremely simple, such as the creative commons license. Wikipedia prefers that content be licensed under the GFDL or a more free license. At any rate, if you really do care about what people do with your content, I suggest clicking on some of the tags listed at WP:IT, if not, just slap on any free license tag and go on your way. Happy editing! --Hetar 00:11, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

unreferenced tag - lift?

[edit]

Hi,

Pretty new here and recently added references to an article you tagged as unreferenced. Was going to remove the tag since I can't find anything written about any procedure to follow before doing do, but thought I'd ask you since you placed the tag: is there something I should do, or somewhere I should list the article, before removing the tag now that I've added references? Thanks... joeOnSunset 23:23, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Once someone has provided some sources, the tag can be removed :). Thanks for being so nice, and welcome to Wikipedia! --Hetar 05:28, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism  ??!!!

[edit]

Vandal to me? Why you are threatening that I will be blocked? Man, I am trying to restore the previous version of that page, before it was vandalized by other users; also, I'm trying to post content that links the article Modern Gnostic Mysticism to current New Age literature. Your behavoiur is not neutral, I will post a complain to administrators. I see you are interested in Church of LDS movies; if you are affiliated to their Church, you are even violating their policy regarding others' religious beliefs. We are not promoting Satanism, after all, furthermore, it's exactly the opposite. I wonder what is your agenda. skysurfer

I have no agenda. You removed an AfD notice twice from Modern gnostic mysticism. Removing AfD notices is vandalism, and while I will not and can not block you for it, if you continue to do so, another administrator will likely step in. --Hetar 03:34, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should not behave like a bot, I mean that you should read the whole talk history of the article before trying to harrass me. skysurfer

I have read the whole talk history of the article. There is no excuse for vandalism, and warning users that such will not be tolerated is not considered harrasment. Furthermore, the assertion that I behave like a bot is a personal attack, please remember WP:CIVIL. --Hetar 03:47, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At this stage, I have to assume that you and those 2 Wikipedians dislike the content of the article and are FIGHTING against us. I wonder why. This is not NPOV matter. skysurfer

Actually, I don't really care what the content of the article is, the simple fact of the matter is that it has a previous AfD debate which decided that the article should be deleted. My comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Modern gnostic mysticism support this. And please, I'm not fighting anyone. I am just trying to help make Wikipedia a better place by applying its guidelines and policies. --Hetar 04:06, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Modern Gnosticism

[edit]

I replied to you and the others in the "deletion" page. I hope you dont mind if I tell that you should be very careful before deleting articles dealing with philosophies and religions of other people, becouse hurting someone's else beliefs may result as a sort of "witch-hunting".
